I remember Little Red when I first went on the Animal Kingdom Safari, never knew there was a dessicated Big Red - eww! Probably smelled worse than Lafitte's sandals

Andy's Coming never happens because people found out, and it was painful for the workers. and NO, Bonnie's coming also doesn't work.
I highly doubt the whole "Andy's Coming!" thing ever actually happened. The few photos I've seen all look like the park was deserted, probably not yet opened, and that it was just the Characters having a goof with their fellow CMs. I say this for three reasons. 1. The ground is HARD, not something you want to just fall down onto randomly. The liability if you got hurt isn't something Disney wants to deal with. 2. Are you really going to risk ripping your costume, midway through your shift? Or scuffing up that Woody head by falling on concrete? Not if you like having a paycheck. 3. It's very hard to see in those costumes and kids are unpredictable. You just never know when a little kid is going to run up to you out of your view range. Nobody wants to be the one responsible for falling on a four year old. It's just not safe to intentionally fall down like that.
@@themisfitowl2595 Honestly that's always been my hypothesis: that the photos were staged be it from CMs goofing around with each other or a guest asked the character handlers if they could take a silly picture, and some idiot on Reddit saw this and made up the entire story on the spot - and because apparently no one learned their lesson from Arthur that people do indeed lie on the internet, they just ran with the story. Not to mention what also most likely happened, a bunch of people dogpiled onto the story claiming "'Andy's coming' is a totally real thing! I saw it happen!" or variants of that claim.
"Snow White dies" is actually a reference to WDW's nightmarish Snow White dark ride from 1971, in which riders were made to assume the perspective of Snow White herself. At the very end of the ride, the Witch appeared in the gem vault of the Dwarfs' mine, dislodging a giant emerald onto riders from above in the style of the boulder scene from the film. This was followed by a series of strobe lights and starburst patterns in the dark, implying that the Witch succeeded in killing "you," or Snow White.
I remember when I went to Disney World and saw the words "Snow White" and didn't read the rest of the ride title. So I went on the ride with my family as an 8 yr old and was pretty freaked out.
@@jaeeun5803 I never went on that ride as a child because I saw the word "Scary" in it, and being terrified of The Haunted Mansion and shaken by Pinocchio's Daring Journey, I wanted nothing to do with a scary Snow White ride! I rode it for the first time back when I visited Disneyland in March 2018, and imho as a then 30-year-old, it was still pretty unnerving! Not terrifying as I'm sure I would've found it as a 3-year-old, but I can understand why Disney chooses to point out that it might be too scary for younger guests! Quite a few of the animatronics in there still look pretty old (not like Opening Day of Disneyland old, more like 1983 Fantasyland re-opening old) and have the stiff movements of the pre-1964 Worlds Fair animatronics, and paired with the vacant stares and dead eyes... even that was enough to give me the willies!
Along with Alien Encounter, the scariest attraction in Disney history. When I take over Disney, WDW is definitely getting Snow White's Scary Adventures back in some form and it may just be the original one complete with the witch shrieking "Goodbye Dearie!" as she drops the emerald on you. Disney needs more dark and macabre attractions that terrify kids. That's why Halloween is the best holiday. Also thank god for Claude Coats designing such a great attraction and you Haunted Mansion fans should be glad that Marc Davis' whimsical mansion designs won out over Coats. Snow White was his consolation prize.
Fun story! My friends and I would call the Epcot phone booths for fun sometimes to see who would pick up. And one day some kids who were there for their hs marching band picked up the phone. They were performing in a parade and happened to compete in the same circuit my HS marching band did (southern California). Once we found out what school they went to, we ended up meeting in person the next year at a competition
First time I was at Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios some guy yelled "Andy's Coming" at Woody, and the character attendant without missing a beat replied "Andy's at college." SO funny well done to her 😂
6:40 I used to work at WDW pirates. They told me you ALWAYS say "good night, George", but NEVER good morning. Simply put, you don't want to wake him up, even if it's well-intentioned.
The young man who died while piloting that monorail actually saved the lives of everyone else on board by reversing his car just before the impact killed him. A lot of people in that moment wouldn't be thinking about anyone else, but he was.
@@level3xfactor prob cause it’s not exactly true (edit: as in no one else was on it) iirc the monorail accident was after park closed they were putting the monorails away when they crashed And the crash was because the auto detecter didn’t work and the monorails were not actually visible to the overviewers
Hello, I’m the original poster of the iceberg (figmentfan1982) and I’m going to share the info that was misinterpreted/not known about in the video. Snow White Dies: This refers to the ending of the opening day Snow White’s Scary Adventures at WDW in which the she is crushed by a giant diamond by the wicked witch. Madame Leota Real Seance: A rumor that the spell book used in the Madame Leota scene was a real cursed artifact. Lost Muppet Vision Preshow: A cancelled addition to the 2009 refurbishment. This was directed by David Gumbel during November 2008, but this was not included when the refurbishment debuted. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Leak: Refers to an actual leak that happened in the water. Disney Cemetery: Refers to a rumor of a hidden cemetery inside of the parks (think the frozen walt thing but with the deceased) Everything else was correct. Also it was pretty cool to have my work featured in one of Offhand’s videos, so thanks for that! Also Lafitte Sandals.
People _do_ scatter ashes at Disney parks. They actually have a specific code for it, because you're _not allowed to do that_ and discovering ashes will prompt them to call in someone with a very fine handheld vacuum cleaner to come and dispose of the ashes. Don't scatter your ashes at Disney World kids. You'll just end up in a hoover and then a bin.
@@DeerBonesBaby My current idea is to have a woodburned portrait token of myself taken there and see if they can put it somewhere discreet. I don't think your entire body can go there XD
To add to the Disneyland cats, the parks actually take care of them ☺️ They feed them, they go to the vet, they’re all tagged and have clipped ears so they know which cats are the Disneyland cats
That warms my heart 💙💜 pre-covid, I volunteered at the animal shelter for long-boarding cats, just spending time and giving attention to the fuzzbutts, clean litter trays/their "cages" that weren't cages but clear enclosures with cat trees and places for them to "hide" etc. It's a wonderful shelter/boarding place and the owners really appreciate the kitties getting attention (also volunteers to walk the doggos, play with them, etc, but I'm a little scared of dogs I don't know. Nothing about specific dog breeds, I loved my Pit/lab mix, chihuahuas are evil though 😂)
@@SkylarsTerribleMemes with collars they can get stuck in branches and would make Disney the actual responsible owners . They get a cut in the ears so they know these are neutered ones . With just a chip they would be chasing and catching the same ones over and over to find out after the catch it was a neutered one.
If the EPCOT phone booths still functioned, I can’t imagine how many people would be calling them to make extended car warranty jokes. That would be awesome I hope Disney turns them back on.
club 33 is so crazy to me because i didn’t realize how ~exclusive~ it was until my adult life - my mom worked at a really nice law firm in downtown LA and they had a perk where you (and your children i guess) could get into the park for free so long as you pay for the club 33 meal and me, being like 5-8 years old, did not care about the food at ALL so all i remember having there was tortellini, shirley temples, and goodies from a chocolate fondue fountain… lol what a waste
In college, one of my friends was a server and said the people were often nice, but when guests were rude, they were beyond typical annoying...and she had to be nice to them no matter what. She ended up leaving the position after too many rich guests felt entitled to treat her like trash. (This was decades ago, though, so things may have changed. Hopefully, the guests are better now.)
@@JuniperMB they're the same, or even worse, now. c33 is now used as a place for celebs to eat when in the parks, one of my friends did DCP and she worked there for her program. she loved it, but hated interacting with the entitled celebs
I walked by it and noticed the plaque and felt like I couldn't let anybody know I had seen lol. Like what would they do? "how dare you accidently see our fancy club entrance!"
3:55 mansion maid here - we don’t wait till third shift to vaacum up “code a”s. the second they’re spotted, we have to cycle out the ride, dump the queue, and mansion goes down while we wait for custodial to come and clear the code a. It usually causes mansion to go down for at least an hour, so PLEASE don’t dump your loved ones’ ashes - not only will they just end up in the dumpster, but it causes the ride to go down and impacts everyone else’s parks experience as well.
I got obsessed with the Disney parks around 2008 when I came across a Wikipedia article titled, “list of incidents at Disney park.” It lists every horrible thing that has ever happened (except for the time I threw up in a garbage can at the age of six after being tricked into going on thunder mountain). This article tickled my morbid fascination but also showed me that this place was a real working city where life (and death) happened. There is just different people choosing to exist in this community every day. And if you look at it like that, the fact that you can actually list every major crime or incident that has occurred in multiple locations across the world, around so many heavy, moving, industrial pieces, over 66 years, on Wikipedia page, shows how safe these places really are.
15:00 & 16:20 So just to elaborate, many security camera systems recycle the VHS tapes they used to record footage, eventually these tapes become so worn that they produce ghost images after being re-recorded on top of old footage hundreds upon thousands of times. There's a few different pieces of footage of "ghost" guests walking through the park, the reason the paths they take line up so well is because it's literally just old footage underneath the footage you're looking at.
I worked Haunted Mansion Disney World. So we know when ashes are thrown because they glow in the dark under the Mansion's lighting (due to the bone fragments). A cast member is at unload and hears screaming and wailing. As the buggie comes in, the cast member sees that the guests in the buggie covered in glow in the dark powder. The guest had tried to throw their loved ones ashes into the ballroom... and the ashes bounced off the glass right back onto them.. covering the guests in the ashes of their loved ones. A true sh!tshow. Also disney closes the rides and has maintenance come in with hazmat suits and special vacuums... if you throw your loved one in the Mansion, your loved one ends up in a landfill.
So fun fact about the “Andy’s coming!” Trick: I used to be a character attendant and witnessed one of the last times it happened. The performer in in the woody outfit actually knocked the back of the mascot head against a garden edge and it caused pretty significant damage to the back of it. A park wide memo was sent out by the end of the day outright barring it under the threat of termination. Which was easy to avoid except when the train conductor was telling his whole train to say it.
@@Kayyleeeeee probably an expression of embarrassment. Cast members are trained to be very visual when they take on the roles of characters (especially the characters which wear masks)
@@Kayyleeeeee for non-verbal characters, the signal of raising one hand and covering one eye with the other was a distress signal to the attendants. Basically a “I need to break character for an important reason and I NEED you here now.”
@@wajmgirl interesting. i didnt think it had a literal meaning like that considering characters replicate that gesture in the stage shows as part of the act.
@@BadWebDiver oh my god it’s so hot, they may have changed it since I was last there but there was no AC, just fans. They didn’t do much except blow around the already hot, humid, air.
"why is a roller coaster there": I've always found it odd how often Disney makes reference to traditional coaster-centric amusement parks even though their parks AREN'T traditional coaster-centric amusement parks. Even Paradise/Pixar Pier at California Adventure, and the Boardwalk resort at WDW, and (sort of) Dino-Rama are sort of thematic references to an old-fashioned boardwalk park or carnival without actually *being* one. California Screamin'/Incredicoaster isn't a traditional wooden coaster, but it has the theme of a traditional wooden coaster. It's as if on some level they're pushing against the fact that Walt Disney specifically never wanted to make one of those.
its funny how weve come around to a time where boardwalk amusement parks have the same nostalgia value for us that turn of the century small town America had for walt. where we miss the danger and carnie tricks that walt did his best to prevent.
Back when I visited Disneyland in the summer of 2001 on a family vacation, I remember seeing an Atlantis Meet-and-Greet with Milo and Kida set up in front of the recently closed Submarine Voyage, right next to the escalator leading to the Tomorrowland Monorail, advertising an Atlantis-themed submarine ride! I was so excited for it because I really liked Atlantis: The Lost Empire (I still do!) and I wish I had had my picture taken with them to commemorate the moment and as future proof that the Atlantis sub ride was planned to be a thing at one point, because I was so disappointed when plans fell through because Atlantis wasn't considered a "box office smash"! An Atlantis ride would've been so awesome, and to be honest, I *still* would love an Atlantis ride of some sort added into Tomorrowland! The old Innoventions/Carousel of Progress/America Sings building is standing right there-- completely empty! They should do something Atlantis related with it! I don't know exactly what kind of ride could go there (the original submarine ride where you would've gotten attacked by the leviathans from the movie would've been pretty bomb), and I know it's never going to happen, but I think the Disney Company would be pretty surprised to discovered that the movie has garnered a cult following that would absolutely love to have an Atlantis ride!
i have such a special place in my heart for both Atlantis and Treasure Planet! i'd consider them to be sort of cult classics, despite their commercial failure. the art style and creativitu in both of those movies is astounding
Maybe they did the Snow White Dies as a reference to one of the versions of Scary Adventures that just ends with the witch dropping a stone on you with crash doors of “seeing stars”? Excellent video, btw
This might get buried, but I really wish Offhand would do more live videos both at home (sorry, studio 😉) and fron the parks. It would be cool to get a live look how he approaches the parks, and more importantly, when he streams from home, we get to see Meeko more often! Lafitte Sandals!
I’m sure that the Hell reference is to Mr. Toad. You can feel the heat from that room when you’re on the Alice in Wonderland ride, which is essentially the second floor of the building.
i’m surprised Sora at Disney Parks wasn’t on here. there used to be various KH promotions in the parks back then, but not anymore. hopefully they bring it back, it’d be funny to see a Sora character played by an actor walk around the park
Would love to note that when I used to work at DL Haunted Mansion, ashes didn't happen too often, typically 3-4 times a year (but sometimes 3-4 a week). Almost always we were able to tell it had happened shortly after the ashes were dropped as they don't look like regular dust and are actually kind of crystalized and shiny. So typically grandma was sucked up in a vacuum and into a biohazard bag within an hour or so of being placed in what someone thought was her final resting place.
And ok, George may or may not be real. Working there, we were told it was a 3rd shift technician and he hung out in boat storage. He would mostly close doors behind you and lock them and you couldn't get back. But yes, good morning and good night George.
Don't know if anyone has said this already, but the "Snow White Dies" part I feel like more refers to the original version of Snow White's Scary Adventure at Magic Kingdom. At the end, the witch is seen leveraging a huge gem above your head, then you enter the next room which is filled with starbursts and flashing lights, implying that you've been hit and KILLED by the falling gem. Then the ride is over.
Oh! Once when I was in Epcot I was walking by the payphones when they started ringing. It was a British lady on the phone so I always assumed it was a cast member, so this is really cool to learn! Mystery (?) solved!!
I recall the tunnels on Tom Sawyer’s Island being much more extensive when I was younger. I think that some were closed over time. There was one that was a ‘secret’ entrance to Fort Wilderness, as well as quite a lot mid-island. I couldn’t even count the number of times I banged my head on the rocks in there. With the remodel of the Rivers of America for Galaxy’s Edge, I’m sure the tunnels are a mere shadow of what they once were.
As a San Antonian I’ve always thought their third theoretical location would be made here, my dad and I said this solely because of the sea world locations. California, Orlando Florida, and here in SA Texas. One can only dream
ayyeee i’m a San Antonian too! and honestly man, my family went to florida when i was around 1 or 2 but we couldn’t get into the park for some reason i can’t remember smh. we need one here lol.
If anyone is interested in the movie Escape From Tomorrow, Jenny Nicholson did a great video commentary on it! I would also be really keen to see a video covering it from this channel too though.
I'm actually surprised the movie is hated by so many. Yet, as someone who lives in a country with no Disney-Parks in reach (next opportunity would be Paris), it was a unique insight and the movie itself was enjoyable. Weird, don't took itself to serious (Cat Flu as an example or the Bosch company is secretly ruling the world, for sure!) and with a few very creepy moments. I do think people hate it is partly because they visit the parks more often and do connect various different memories with it. It's a low budget indie movie, but I had a good time with it. Would love to see it covered here, but if this turns out to be a 25 minutes rant or so I don't think I would be on board.
I honestly think it's a psychedelic masterpiece. Having grown up close enough to Disneyland to have passes, seeing this familiar real place that could never be re-created (on that tiny budget at least) presented in such a weird way was super trippy. There's a sort of meta-fascination to it.
Just in case if anyone is wondering, Robert B. Brown was Walt and Lilian Disney's son-in-law (married to their youngest named Sharon; also buried with her parents) is also inurned at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.
The story I’d always heard growing up in So Cal was that Walt’s cryogenically frozen body was under the castle, not Pirates. Is the current story just a false rumor spread to throw people off from discovering his true location? Of course not, but it’s too compelling a story to just go away, no matter how false it is.
I remember hearing it was supposed boarded up inside one of the towers of the castle, supposedly to "explain" why the entrance to it was boarded up. I think the mundane reason was the castle works on perspective tricks to look big and the tower wasnt actually a big room.
Friendly neighborhood Pirate here- There are no ghosts inside the attraction but we do have a frog. Next time your visiting Magic Kingdom and riding POTC ask to meet Leroy :)
If you want to spend forever in The Haunted Mansion the solution is simple: step 1- get cremated, step 2- have someone place your ashes in an urn that looks like a grave marker, step 3- place said urn amongst the grave markers in either the ride entrance cue or in the less crowded exit cue. If everything goes well and your loved one doesn’t get caught by a cast member or security then you’ve done it. Eventually your marker will become a normal fixture of the ride and as time goes on it’ll be less and less likely it gets discovered.
I was thinking why not outside in the pet cemetery dirt? The surrounding greenery will soak up any nutrients from your ashes, and you spend eternity with the good boys of the mansion. Mix it with some water in a souvenir cup and just quick dump it while the lines are really full but moving.
Another way to do it... step 1- Watch Shawshank Redemption, step 2- take inspiration from Andy Dufresne, Step 3- be causal about it and try not think that the ashes of a loved one may not all fall out of your pants and you probably are going to have to wash some of them down the drain later 🤣🤣
Sounding like an old fart- or just don’t do it. It’s a theme park and not a real grave yard. It’s forcing grounds keepers, ride cleaners to rummage around human remains. It’s gross and rude. It’s not that important to be buried at the haunted mansion.
Some Offhand Disney videos have to be watched in parts. In spite of Dalin's perfect diction and eloquence, that for a non English native speaker like me is a blessing, it's sometimes just too much. He can talk non-stop for hours! I enjoyed this video as always, though.
Escape From Tomorrow seems like one of those movies where your enjoyment upon it hinges on how much of a Disney fan you are, or on how much you're able to stomach bizarre imagery. I'd like to see a video on it on your channel. Your stuff is always fun to watch, especially when I'm wearing sandals. ...But is there any mention of LeFitte in the film, I wonder?
Idk, are you thinking if you’re a big fan you’ll like it more, or if you aren’t a big fan you’ll like it more? I watched the movie, it SUCKS. The guy who made it was trying way too hard to be edgy.
i wouldn’t mind a movie that’s a commentary on disney/theme parks at large. i think it would make for a really interesting topic and there are a lot of directions that i think a film like that could take. Escape From Tomorrow is just poorly written and executed and overall doesn’t make much sense. i dislike it for reasons beyond its content at face value.
Would love to see an Escape from Tomorrow video from you!! We already had Tony Goldmark and Jenny Nicholson tear it to pieces; we need Offhand to complete the trifecta.
When I think “Disneyland Graveyard,” the old Pioneer Cemetery that used to be behind Fort Wilderness on Tom Sawyer Island is the first thing that comes to mind. I’m pretty sure the graveyard didn’t survive the Galaxy’s Edge expansion. But my second ever Instagram post was an attempt at a moody and spooky black and white photo of the tombstones in the play area.
Splash mountain feels kinda eerie to me knowing that sone of those animatronics have seen real Death and been around such horrible tragedy in their lifetime.
There used to be a Disney creepypasta video many years ago and I wish I can still find it, it's about Mr. Toads wild ride. I don't remember it all completely but the story goes that one person who was going to the ride was excited about it, while in the ride after passing the library at the beginning, when this person entered the room where there's a bunch of paintings on the sides and a couple chandeliers, instead of taking the usual left turn to enter the next room, the front wall that gives the illusion of a longer room suddenly opens and the person's car enters immediately dropping thr rider down like a rollercoaster and into literal hell, closing the doors behind too before anyone else saw. I remember it saying how terrifying the person was. Seeing many messed up things and way more flames than there was was on the actual ride. I think eventually the person entered a room leading on the side where the bricks open to another room on the room or just when you see the dragon in the rides hell. It's been a long time seeing that video because I watched it ar least twice one day before I went to Disneyland years ago. I've been trying to look for it but I can't find it anymore either.
41:23 it's more of an industry standard. Many years ago I used to work at a six flags park and they were referred to as "loss prevention" it's a department within security
Lafeet yoooo Kingdom Keepers reference 👀 Do you think you’ll ever do a video or series on the book series debunking the really weird stuff that happened in them or obscure Disney references in them? Cause I’ve literally been waiting for years for someone to talk about those books. Sandals
I know these videos take a long time, but I love your longer videos. Sitting for an hour or so listening to you talk Disney is quite enjoyable in my opinion. Keep up the great work Lafitte
Code Word: Lafiet, I might have spelled that wrong… I have experienced George, the last time I went I looked backward when you enter the Barbossa part and I have always loved to see behind the scenes but anyways I saw a technical spot and then a silhouette of a man just poking his head out from behind the technical part and at first my brain thought it was an animatronic because of the way it moved up but then common sense came to me and I thought that would be a waist, so I put two and two together and ya, you know the rest, George. Also it was about not even a week ago Also the mummy in the haunted mansion is alone, his friend that cannot hear was gone!!!
The worst part about the monorail collision is that cast members spent a significant time trying to get people off the platform so they would stop photographing/filming the mangled train that STILL HAD A DEAD GUY INSIDE IT.
Ask a mortician, Caitlin Doughty here on RUclips has a whole series about Disney and death, and covers the no one ever dies at Disney in more depth if you’re interested!
@Brittany R, unfortunately she didn't do her usual level of research on that one, and is apparently not particularly familiar with Disneyland, so some of the details in the video are wrong or just off. I normally enjoy her content, but that video was a disappointment.

Kind of different George story: so we had been to wdw probably 10+ times, and at one point before a trip, I learned about the story of George the ghost. So fast forward to our trip, I tell my family the story and how you have to tell him good morning and goodnight, all that stuff. Well, my dad decided to ask a cast member in the queue about George, and apparently this guy didn’t know the story and calmly replied, “Oh, no sir, there are no ghosts here, you’re thinking of the Haunted Mansion.” Lol. We just left it at that. It was a good lil laugh for us.
The whole urban legend of Walt being cryogenically frozen was probably started by someone wanting to make a joke about him being put in suspended animation.
"Tip of the iceberg" is a saying because icebergs float with 9/10ths of it under the surface of the water. You only see about 1/10th of the actual iceberg. The saying means you're only seeing a tiny part of a massive volume of something. It doesn't mean "this is basic knowledge". It could however mean "this is a small part of a huge volume of information."
@@kosmoboo I'm guessing you haven't heard of the popular iceberg chart trend. It became really popular with the Super Mario 64 iceberg, but now you can find almost any topic in the form of an iceberg explained. The Real Skeleton in Pirates was busted years ago. What happened was Walt borrowed a real skeleton to make the molds to make the skeletons on the ride which is how the rumor came to be but there was never been real skeletons in the ride.

The ghost videos were actually a subconscious way to bring more attention to the parks. All the ghost "sightings" were made during one of the low times of the Disney parks.

My grandfather participated in the YIP riot at disneyland, a interesting consequence of this is that now my entire family is banned from disneyland because of the actions of my grandfather lmao
The Galaxy's Edge thing might be about WDW because I was there around opening date and it was pretty empty. I mean it was because Hurricane Dorian was coming and many people cancelled their vacations to be safe, but people I'm sure would want to twist that.
I worked at Disney (CA) from 2008-2009. During my time there, I was a busser for several different restaurants (Stagedoor Cafe, Riverbelle Terrace, French Market and Golden Horseshoe). During my time there, I learned of a rumor that the Golden Horseshoe was haunted. On the second level of the dining area at the restaurant, there's a door to a room opposite the stairs coming up to that level. Inside that room, there are some supplies, but a small door to another room attached to that. At my time there, I remember that room just playing host to some more supplies but apparently in the past it used to be a breakroom. Rumor is that an older third shift worker took a break there one night and passed away in his sleep and now haunts it. One night after park closing, myself and a few cast members went to investigate. After entering that first room, you had to duck a little bit to get into the second room (the door is pretty small from what I remember). As we were going into the second room, fell down and said that something tripped him. From there, panic started to ensure is everyone rushed out of that room. Everyone scrambled out of the old breakroom, into the supply room and out into the main restaurant. I was the last one out and as I was pulled the door close behind me, I swear I felt something pulling back to keep it open. That was the last time we ever visited that area after the park closed.
Ashes aren't only scattered on the Haunted Mansion, they're scattered literally anywhere and everywhere. It happens so often that we have a code specifically for ashes
Great job! What a neat video - so much info in a rapid fire format! Of course, I love all your videos, especially those about Pirates, Haunted Mansion, or Jean Lafitte... Guess now that you're back from the Arctic you can kick back in some sandals and finish reading your book! :)
Whenever my family and I have gone to Disneyland in recent years and visited California Adventure we always end up seeing Francisco the cat at least once on all of our trips! Cool finally knowing the name of the familiar cat face we see every time we go!
Definitely interested in you doing a video on escape from tomorrow. I watched it while I was staying at a Disney hotel a couple weeks ago and it was definitely An Experience. I looked it up on youtube and was disappointed that no big-name disney youtubers had discussed it, so heck yeah, go for it!
My la sandals are so comfortable on my lafitte. This was a great vid. Thanks so much for putting all the time in. I was at Disney world resort when the person was killed between the floats. The next day as a perk we were supposed do a backstage tour as part of our package. Of course that was canceled and they provided a set of merchandise/gift cards to compensate for excursion’s price.
The "real seance" thing is probably a reference to the fact that instead of a head on that table, it used to be an actual actress sitting there conducting a mock seance.
Look up Jeepers! in MI. Kind of a Chuck E Cheese in a mall. I rode the mall ride that beheaded an employee. We all just kinda quietly let them shut the doors for good. We didn't wanna go back. Now the whole mall is dead. Even the Sears. If you're from MI, IYKYK.
Yes, more on, “Escape from Tomorrow” would be great. Especially interesting to note what scenes were filmed in Florida and what scenes were filmed in California.
I died of embarrassment for the guy who tried to do “Andy’s coming!”. I’d have flown home immediately.
@@cannibalisticrequiem
Yup, I can believe that happening too.
@@jaeeun5803 Still the best Disney dark ride ever made, no joke.
Oh….dear.

The young man who died while piloting that monorail actually saved the lives of everyone else on board by reversing his car just before the impact killed him. A lot of people in that moment wouldn't be thinking about anyone else, but he was.

Disney Cemetery: Refers to a rumor of a hidden cemetery inside of the parks (think the frozen walt thing but with the deceased)
Everything else was correct.

To add to the Disneyland cats, the parks actually take care of them ☺️
They feed them, they go to the vet, they’re all tagged and have clipped ears so they know which cats are the Disneyland cats
so, the mouse loves the cat and the cat eats the mice.
Disneyland is the world's biggest mouse trap.
why the hell would they clip the ears? wouldn't a collar or even a chip be more humane?

Good point.
I go back and read this wiki article when I need a chuckle 🥰
same i was in 5th grade and was obsessed with Disney accidents and i made every project about it (petty sure i concerned some teachers lol)
Wow glad to see I wasn't the only one who was obsessed with that article! 😂
Also disney closes the rides and has maintenance come in with hazmat suits and special vacuums... if you throw your loved one in the Mansion, your loved one ends up in a landfill.
honestly i feel like that's one of the better scenarios when you hear screaming in a slow moving ride

Is that why in that clip woody put his hand over his eye? Was that a signal for something?

"why is a roller coaster there": I've always found it odd how often Disney makes reference to traditional coaster-centric amusement parks even though their parks AREN'T traditional coaster-centric amusement parks. Even Paradise/Pixar Pier at California Adventure, and the Boardwalk resort at WDW, and (sort of) Dino-Rama are sort of thematic references to an old-fashioned boardwalk park or carnival without actually *being* one. California Screamin'/Incredicoaster isn't a traditional wooden coaster, but it has the theme of a traditional wooden coaster. It's as if on some level they're pushing against the fact that Walt Disney specifically never wanted to make one of those.
if I were fancy I'd put a bunch of stuff about Baudrillard in there.
its funny how weve come around to a time where boardwalk amusement parks have the same nostalgia value for us that turn of the century small town America had for walt. where we miss the danger and carnie tricks that walt did his best to prevent.
1. I loved this video.
2. I feel weird for already knowing almost everything mentioned.
Glad I'm not the only one.
And as the Waterworld Stunt Show proved; a failed movie does not necessarily mean a bad attraction.
My sister and I have a pic of us with Milo at that meet and greet.
i have such a special place in my heart for both Atlantis and Treasure Planet! i'd consider them to be sort of cult classics, despite their commercial failure. the art style and creativitu in both of those movies is astounding

"brain eating amoeba" oh boy thats my favourite ride

Well played. Very well played, indeed!
MEGA props to you for that intro! i’ve never seen that much effort put into an iceberg video and it was really neat!!
I enjoyed this video as always, though.

i wouldn’t mind a movie that’s a commentary on disney/theme parks at large. i think it would make for a really interesting topic and there are a lot of directions that i think a film like that could take. Escape From Tomorrow is just poorly written and executed and overall doesn’t make much sense. i dislike it for reasons beyond its content at face value.

Do you think you’ll ever do a video or series on the book series debunking the really weird stuff that happened in them or obscure Disney references in them? Cause I’ve literally been waiting for years for someone to talk about those books.
Sandals
PLEASE THAT WOULD BE SO GOOD
Yesssss!!!!! That would be awesome!!!!!!
I know these videos take a long time, but I love your longer videos. Sitting for an hour or so listening to you talk Disney is quite enjoyable in my opinion. Keep up the great work
Lafitte
Code Word: Lafiet, I might have spelled that wrong…
I have experienced George, the last time I went I looked backward when you enter the Barbossa part and I have always loved to see behind the scenes but anyways I saw a technical spot and then a silhouette of a man just poking his head out from behind the technical part and at first my brain thought it was an animatronic because of the way it moved up but then common sense came to me and I thought that would be a waist, so I put two and two together and ya, you know the rest, George.
Also it was about not even a week ago
Also the mummy in the haunted mansion is alone, his friend that cannot hear was gone!!!
I’m not really a believer in George but, if he is real whenever I ride pirates of the Caribbean I say hello to him to show him respect
I was there 9/26/21 and he was there, but his arm for the horn was gone.
The worst part about the monorail collision is that cast members spent a significant time trying to get people off the platform so they would stop photographing/filming the mangled train that STILL HAD A DEAD GUY INSIDE IT.
Dallin going to the Artic for our entertainment? What a guy! Such dedication!
CAUTION: Photosensitive viewers should be warned of the flashing visual effects at 23:23
edit: I wear sandals on Lafitte
Ask a mortician, Caitlin Doughty here on RUclips has a whole series about Disney and death, and covers the no one ever dies at Disney in more depth if you’re interested!
I love her channel, I don't think I've seen that video yet. Thanks for shouting it out, I'll watch it next!
Again ,Emmanuel, stop with the partisan garbage. This is not the place for that. Kind of sad you can't turn that off long enough to enjoy a fun video.
@Brittany R, unfortunately she didn't do her usual level of research on that one, and is apparently not particularly familiar with Disneyland, so some of the details in the video are wrong or just off. I normally enjoy her content, but that video was a disappointment.
@Emmanuel Goldstein You are a sick person then I guess. I feel bad for you.

Little Red lives on...the last time I saw her she was in front of an administration building near Animal Kingdom. We saw her during the 8 hour behind the scenes Disney tour. They took us to see stuff used in some of the parades at Animal Kingdom and pointed her out. Also you can get access to Central Shops. Backstage Magic $275 a person but on hold right now because of COVID) you get access to Central Shops - it says it right on their tour description. Looks like the tour is only 7 hours and you don't go to Hollywood Studios. We actually got to go into the maintenance garage for Tower of Terror. It was really cool.
one time on my birthday i went to epcot and one of the cast members saw the birthday pin i had and told me to go to the epcot phone booths and pick up the phone. then there was a recorded message from goofy saying happy birthday. i remember thinking it was really cool
Funny! 😊
You are so smart
Put Edwina back in bowl!
I was very confused by this video and kept waiting for the rest of the info... I still don't understand what this has to do with icebergs...
@@kosmoboo I'm guessing you haven't heard of the popular iceberg chart trend.
It became really popular with the Super Mario 64 iceberg, but now you can find almost any topic in the form of an iceberg explained.
Basically it's a chart filled with facts and theories about a specific topic. The "tip of the iceberg" means common knowledge stuff that most people know. The deeper down the iceberg you go, the more obscure and creepy the facts & theories get.
Cool story bro
45:55 - I was starting to worry this wouldn’t be included in an Offhand Disney video… but thank goodness coming in clutch right toward the end
Oh my God! I love iceberg videos and this one has me so hyped I can’t even take it.
34:25 I don't think they were used in the final ride, but there are unused lines that Eleanor Audley recorded for the seance that you can still find lurking on the Internet (even takes of her reciting the opening Ghost Host spiel!)
It's a good day when Offhand Disney posts a Disneyland video
Would you consider making a strobe warning/timestamps? Those of us with neurological triggers appreciate it!

Those ghosts videos you showed like Mr. One Way and the ghost leaving the Haunted Mansion were created by Disney.
Christopher Cantwell made a thread about it last year on his Twitter explaining how they did it and that it was a viral marketing campaign.
29:37 to quote another Disney character, “Like fire! Hellfire!”
I am so excited for this!!! Can’t believe you traveled to the Arctic for us though!
Great video! I've been going to Disneyland more often since I bought a magic key pass and this video informed me of a lot of the more obscure aspects of the park.
Lafette! I love listen/watching your videos as I do things around the house and this one kept me going for a while, I’ll probably watch this at least two more times this week. I’ve been subscribed for a while now but I never seem to watch your videos when their recent so I was super excited when I saw a new release that was so long! Thanks for another great video
The Muppet Vision Pre Show might be refer to how Constantine was added into the Muppet Vision Pre Show from 2014-2016 I believe.
The Real Skeleton in Pirates was busted years ago. What happened was Walt borrowed a real skeleton to make the molds to make the skeletons on the ride which is how the rumor came to be but there was never been real skeletons in the ride.
We love your channel so much!! Guess what Fransisco aka Sisco is FEMALE!!!! 🤯 She’s such a good kitty! She always comes to us and we call her our Vacation Kitty. We will be in Disneyland soon enough and we really hope she’s still hunting at Grizzly River Run! 🙏🏻 Three cheers for Lafite’s Sandals!
Oh damn, I had a mini heart attack for a second, I thought you did a video on my theme park iceberg that was posted on the same subreddit! Although mine is all theme parks, not just Disney, so this one makes more sense for the channel
"The liberation of Minnie Mouse... a fictional character..." It... it was a self aware joke, man.
The ghost videos were actually a subconscious way to bring more attention to the parks. All the ghost "sightings" were made during one of the low times of the Disney parks.
18:36 the sad thing is actually is that if it’s an older skull back around the time grave robbing was popular for medical colleges to resort to for bones, it probably wasn’t voluntary.
12:44 just noticed woody raises a hand and covers an eye, pretty sure that’s the signal that he’s feeling sick or not well
Whenever my family and I have gone to Disneyland in recent years and visited California Adventure we always end up seeing Francisco the cat at least once on all of our trips!
I'm with you, a bunch of those "lower tier" items seem like they should be nearer to the top. But then again, maybe I'm just a well-educated Dizgeek who knows more than most, much like yourself.
Lafeet sandals. No matter how long it takes you to make a video it will always be a banger. After 2+ years of watching the quality has only gone up. Great video
This video is EPIC combining spooky theories and Disney all in one…amazing
Especially interesting to note what scenes were filmed in Florida and what scenes were filmed in California.
i’m just now getting into Disney parks, i’m not sure i’ll ever get to go to one but i’m so excited i found your channel!!!
