In this video, I go over the steps I used to manage the cables of my desk setup. I believe this is one of the best way to make sure aren't in the way with a sit-stand desk.

Hope you guys enjoyed this video, do you have any cable management tips I didn't mention that you would like to share? 🤠
One easy way to keep from drilling too far into the desk is to measure the length of the screw and then use masking tape / painter's tape to mark it on the drill bit.
Thanks for the tip!
Just ordered a standing desk myself and was on the lookout for cable management solutions. This is pretty much what I had in mind and thanks to your links I knew what products to search for and was able to find a regional supplier. Great video!
Wow, I'm in love with the high level cable management you did there! I just got real inspiration for my cable management problem 😀
Watched this video last week. Ordered the rack mount components through your link. Installed on my desk and I’m super happy. Great recommendations. Thank you!
This cable management is like art, nicely done.
Very unique approach and I love it! Unlike all the other takes on wire management I have been viewing.
The best set-up I've seen so far.. I'm subscribing!
I love the stable mounting with screws and not just with adhesives! Great guide!
Ain’t gonna lie, this is one of the best desk setup I’ve seen so far. 👏
The rack option for power strip and cable management is brilliant!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for share, your cable management is amazing
This is shocking to behold. Great work.
Please make another video addressing the ugly power cable hanging out the left side of the desk.
Such a smart idea doing the network racks for management. Going to get me some of these!
Nice job with the video! Thanks for being a content creator!
Thanks so much for this guide. I have super professional looking cable management thanks to you. Two comments that helped me elevate my own cable management in addition to your guide: (1) I prefer a roll of Velcro to zip ties because I can reuse/retie. You can also pair this with adhesive velcro rather than the plastic cable ties. No drilling ad I found it works great (plastic cable ties fell off with adhesive only). (2) A magnetic wire snake on a leg is great to hide the power supply's cable as well as an ethernet cable if you have one.
Thanks again for the best guide on standing desk cable management!
thank you! that's really cool and handfull
thanks for sharing these tips, very nice setup btw ;)
Thanks my man Yann! 😌
Thanks for posting ! I got inspired off your previous videos for my last desk. Now I’ve just replaced my desk top for a nice piece of walnut and am trying to find ways to drill the least amount of holes possible. Any ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated !
great stuff!
@ 05:30 - instead of using two pad/cable ties to hold the Velcro strap simply secure through the Velcro strap with pan head screws and use furniture feet pads to space the dock from the surface and prevent said screws scratching the dock. Tidier, cleaner, fewer parts sticking out and has exactly the same result!
Nice work though! Thank you for sharing your set up
Love your vids! :)
Hey Enthly, thanks for commenting again! 😄
Excellent, thank you
Nice video. Can you share the link for the Thunderbolt dock ?
Awesome video!
Thanks Ross! 😌
Pretty clean. I'm liking that cable organizer. The only think I'd change is actually having a computer and about 2.5x more monitor :P
Awesome setup! I did plan to buy a rack mount cable raceway but it never occurred to me to pair it with a rack mount power strip solving the biggest issue of cables falling down due to their own weight (I'm looking at you Apple).
And I'm definitely redoing some of my mounting using the velcro via adjustable ties method you shared.
This deserves more views. :D
Oh thanks so much Ashhar! I'm glad you enjoyed this vid and that it inspired you to redo some of your cable management! 😄
Just amazing to eyes 😌
Aww thanks! 😌
Does that power bar have a surge protector? and also is the rack mount adjustable in length? Thanks!
great clip ..if you could post the web link on where was the rack mount bought..that would be nice
Question what shrews did you use and is the power outlets surge protected?
any video like this covering a full tower (e-atx) case?
You definitley need a monitor arm. The stand of the monitor is huge. And it would look even cleaner!
I think this BenQ stand looks pretty nice on its own, but yeah a monitor arm would look awesome too! 😃
I think this guy thought the mac book was a monitor stand, lmao.
@@ThisMusicIsToogood Thanks for making fun of "this guy", who is right here. But you are actually right. I probably did :D
Hey there! Love the video - I was just wondering, what stops you from screwing the power strips directly into the desk without adding the rack mount? I could be wrong but looking at the power strip itself it looked like the mounting pieces on the ends could be screwed off and re-oriented so the power strip itself is in the right position to be screwed into the desk vertically. Not sure if I'm misinterpreting what's happing or if there is another reason why the power strip can't go right into the desk - trying to figure out what pieces I should buy (: Thank you!!
Was looking for a guide for managing cable slack for sit-stand desks but this wasn't it
Heads up all, the power strip used here doesn't appear to offer surge protection.
Any suggestions on how to include a PC case with this setup?
Also, do you recommend adding a LED strip where the power strip is?
Which monitor and monitor light is that? Do you have a video on this set-up?
My dog ate my cable to adjust my desk does anyone know where I can purchase a new one
all nice and cool but where do you locate your pc
Where can I buy the the rack mount?
where did you got that audio gear desk reference at 1:02 ? I'm thinking of building something like that
I keep coming back to your video so i'm biting the bullet and giving this a go. Worst case now i have parts for a future 19" server rack :)
How'd it go?
@@shauncordier1264 well! You really need to manage the cables because the tray receiving the wires is quite small. If I had to do it again I would double up on that piece. Otherwise it’s very clean.
Thanks for the response, glad you made it work for you. Today all my gear shows up so I'll be giving it a shot myself! I'll keep your advice in mind, I don't have too many cables to begin with but I know it'll seem like a lot when trying to carefully run and tuck it all away cleanly.
Hey, I have an Autonomous desk too, aren't they fantastic? I've never had a single issue and the dual motor can do 300lbs. I love it.
Hi Minimalistik,
Can I have link of the products used where can be purchased
Is it ok to drill into particle board desk top or should I go a different route?
is the PC built into the monitor? I didn't notice the PC
Great video! When you switch between laptops do you turn them on and off? Or do you leave them on all the time so that all you have to do is switch video input?
Yup, my computers with a lid are usually only sleeping so I can wake them directly with my keyboard! 🙂
Great video. Very comprehensive.
Can you please put a section to discuss screws a little more in depth. The screws for the rack unit and the screws you used for the cable ties. I'm not sure if everyone here is on point with the standard depth screws usually need to be (50-75%) or the differing heads. I gather the rack unit screws are more supportive than the other ones. Or maybe you could reply to this message so anyone else reading through the comments can find the solution. Thanks.
What thunderbolt dock are you using?
How can I do the cable management if I have a No break, and a Regulator of current, both are heavy and big to mount under the desk.
Hi, what is the light you have mounted on top of the PC monitor?
Do you or anyone happen to know what screws to use for the rack used for the power strip to screw in place to the desk? I did get screws for the rack, but they’re a little too big for the table.
I'm making a plan in advance to be able to install the cables and accessories at the same time as the assembly to avoid having to install everything from below, and to have cables of the right length.
Those with only 2-3 cores are easy to cut and solder 👌
Excellent video! I understand the screws that come with the wall rack-mount frames are too long and are at risk of drilling right through the desktop. What wood screw size did you end up using, by chance? M5x16mm, or similar?
I have the same question. Did you go with M5x16mm or find another alternative that works?
May I know what is the name of the thunderbolt hub?
wan i have the link to buy your standing desk please
My desk on the carpet tends to shake. I think it is more so due to the monitor. Any ideas on how to minimize the movement of the monitor?
What screws should i get for the Cable ties?
What size is your desk?
What kind of speakers are those?
I would suggest you to add one of those magnetic charging cables to your setup. Although Ur setup already awesome
Thanks how much does it cost
Thats a great setup, but I be you're dissatisfied with that single ugly power cord goring to the wall outlet. Have you managed to solve that issue? I know there are some desks coming out now that have an integrate power cable in the leg...
did you get x2 Rack mount links or just x1?
The rackmount solution is very clever.
Thanks 99Cookies! I did put a bit of time into thinking how I would make this video haha! 😅
Which keyboard is that?
i like how he mount that thunderbolt dock
My goodness. This is a lot!
Excellent guide! Whereeeeee did you get the desktop wallpaper from???
Nevermind. Literally in the description. Haha.
Nice, some really good stuff there! I also just did my first cable management video, but its more like relaxing type, than a guide
when?
@@supremechapstick107 about six months ago 👍 took the video with my old phone so it is what it is 😅
@@justaleksithings6002 when did i ask?
@@supremechapstick107 15 minutes ago
Where is the lan cable though?
Nice video ! If you ever sell one some of your product, I'm in Montreal and would be really down!
Hey Maryse, I usually list my stuff on Kijiji, mostly keyboards though 🙂
I’m on the south shore of Montreal
www.kijiji.ca/o-profile/79960672/listings/1
I don’t know how. But this was uploaded just when I was opening the box of my standing desk.
Woah! And I scheduled this video’s release date weeks ago! 🤯
Hmm, wondering how to approach this with UK plugs (the cable comes out perpendicular to the club pins, rather than in line with it).
UK plugs actually do all the jobs for you so you don't need to worry about the rack mount kit. UK plugs already point out the bottom(or top), and have the locking Ground top pin which holds in the plug too, so you can just mount a power bar directly to the table bottom and get the benefits described in the video.
About how much space was required between the frame under your desk and the back of your desk? I am getting a Jarvis desk but the frame is not in the middle and is more towards the back. I like this setup but am wondering if I can still fit it all using the Jarvis frame.
This works on a Jarvis desk! I just did it. You'll have to mount the power strip and the cable rack slightly differently to fit in the space towards the back.
@@gmdebern Thanks for that!
Looks clean but where is the tower???
Why wouldn’t you just use a longer raceway strip so all the wires are inside it and not folded up all over the underside of the desk
Where is your cpu here?
Number 13, cable management
Take a shot every time he says "Rack" 🤪🤣😂
Holy shit using 1U rackmount hardware here is a great idea
where is your CPU ?
How can you have so many cables with only one monitor, a macbook, speakers and a lamp?
In 30 Min convert sitting desk to Standing- ruclips.net/video/kQa2oSynJgE/видео.html
But where is the computer?
More shopping to be minimalist???? 😮
That single cable aiming off the desk should be white and pinned to the wall
It’s so annoying - you have to a genius to get it close to not a shambles
what are always missing in any cable management video are internet modem, wireless router. This is mandatory, otherwise, you don't have internet. Other things missing but not mandatory are subwoofers, uninterrupted Power Supply. Also, where do you put your PC so that it will come along with your adjustable desk. Leaving your PC on your table top will clutter your table top. So, you need computer mounts for both the computer and the UPS.

Heyyy 👋
There needs to be an international standard for power sockets. UK sockets and plugs are terrible.
It's indeed annoying that there's no international standard 🤔
No surge protector/back UPS. What a joke 🤣
