    One easy way to keep from drilling too far into the desk is to measure the length of the screw and then use masking tape / painter's tape to mark it on the drill bit.

    Thanks so much for this guide. I have super professional looking cable management thanks to you. Two comments that helped me elevate my own cable management in addition to your guide: (1) I prefer a roll of Velcro to zip ties because I can reuse/retie. You can also pair this with adhesive velcro rather than the plastic cable ties. No drilling ad I found it works great (plastic cable ties fell off with adhesive only). (2) A magnetic wire snake on a leg is great to hide the power supply's cable as well as an ethernet cable if you have one.
    Thanks again for the best guide on standing desk cable management!

    @ 05:30 - instead of using two pad/cable ties to hold the Velcro strap simply secure through the Velcro strap with pan head screws and use furniture feet pads to space the dock from the surface and prevent said screws scratching the dock. Tidier, cleaner, fewer parts sticking out and has exactly the same result!
    Nice work though! Thank you for sharing your set up

    Awesome setup! I did plan to buy a rack mount cable raceway but it never occurred to me to pair it with a rack mount power strip solving the biggest issue of cables falling down due to their own weight (I'm looking at you Apple).

    Hey there! Love the video - I was just wondering, what stops you from screwing the power strips directly into the desk without adding the rack mount? I could be wrong but looking at the power strip itself it looked like the mounting pieces on the ends could be screwed off and re-oriented so the power strip itself is in the right position to be screwed into the desk vertically. Not sure if I'm misinterpreting what's happing or if there is another reason why the power strip can't go right into the desk - trying to figure out what pieces I should buy (: Thank you!!

    Can you please put a section to discuss screws a little more in depth. The screws for the rack unit and the screws you used for the cable ties. I'm not sure if everyone here is on point with the standard depth screws usually need to be (50-75%) or the differing heads. I gather the rack unit screws are more supportive than the other ones. Or maybe you could reply to this message so anyone else reading through the comments can find the solution. Thanks.

    • @Luke523
      @Luke523 3 года назад +2

      UK plugs actually do all the jobs for you so you don't need to worry about the rack mount kit. UK plugs already point out the bottom(or top), and have the locking Ground top pin which holds in the plug too, so you can just mount a power bar directly to the table bottom and get the benefits described in the video.

    what are always missing in any cable management video are internet modem, wireless router. This is mandatory, otherwise, you don't have internet. Other things missing but not mandatory are subwoofers, uninterrupted Power Supply. Also, where do you put your PC so that it will come along with your adjustable desk. Leaving your PC on your table top will clutter your table top. So, you need computer mounts for both the computer and the UPS.
