Incredible setup and even better how-to demo! I'm late to the party but wondering what it would be like to remove all that from under the desk (e.g., if you needed a new docking station) and whether velcro command strips might do the job but be a little less commital.
one thing about the adhesive strips on power bricks, is that the bricks generate heat, which can weaken the strength of the adhesive. Now i bought some random ones, so im not sure if high quality ones (or heat resistant) would work around that. One of my monitor power bricks uses adhesives fine, the other unstuck and so now im using a this under-desk laptop tray that i just fashiioned to work to hold a power brick. seems to work

nice job man! lucky that you only needed a single exposed plug going to the wall otherwise standing desks can be tough. Two of my monitors have those super heavy brick power adapters so I had to get real creative mounting them to the desk legs. I can't tell you how many times I'd get my cables set up, raise the desk and have half my cables get ripped out 😂 I used to use Gorilla tape, but it's super tough to move and you're right, if it's on something that heats up, it leaves behind some residue or even drips. Using stick-on Velcro works great for this, and you can easily re-position things, I picked up a roll that's about the same width as that gorilla tape and rated for 20 lbs
Nice video, i just used the same adhesive for my cable management and am glad to see someone else using it instead of drilling the table. Did the adhesive last the test of time holding those in place?
Hi sir Jeremiah. I hope you will recognise my comment. Actually im following what your doing right now of what you said in you "How i become sortware enginneer Pt. 1 and 2. I just built a PC to sit alongside my Macbook on my standing desk, and even with a KVM all the cables are a total mess! This video could not have been recommended at a perfect time. Love the setup! Question: how do you switching between your PC and your Mac? do you take output from the Anker hub and switch to the PC when you want to switch devices, or do you hvae some sort of a switcher? Finding a switch that worked with both was more challenging than I expected so curious what you are rolling with!
Im kind of lost on how to do cable management with my standing desk, so your video is super helpful for ideas! How is the Gorilla Tape holding up for you? I thought about screwing down some velcro straps instead, but the velcro didnt seem very strong! 😂
My frustration is finding a tray that can be mounted BEHIND the desk. My new desks are small and have a back panel so the back of the desk is a flat surface. I'm looking for a 24-32" x 4" tray to hold everything that is mounted to the vertical plane. Everything I find is mounted to the bottom of the table top,the horizontal plane, and that doesn't work for me. Any ideas?
Hello good sir, So my question to you is on the gorilla double sided adhesive, when you stick it onto a wood surface when peeling it off the surface does it damage the surface or does it peel off easily?
Great concept, I’m going to use some of these suggestions. But, I was wondering, if you are doing video ( LOVE, LOVE THE BIG MONITOR)!!! Why are you using an HDMI instead of Display port?
You should consider getting a monitor arm with built in cable management like a VIVO Premium, also a 90 degree USB C cable to laptop so it's not sticking straight out. If you got the monitor stand you'd be able to put a desk shelf on there too so you could hide the other stuff on your desk easier
Hi. Very good video. I have some questions: Do you need the Anker docking station "only" for the MacBook or is the docking sttaion also connected to the pc? Which eyboard are you using? I'm very interest how to work as a developer with this BIG monitor ;-) Thanks
Question before I go and replicate this, does that gorilla tape allow for removal of the product without causing damage? I know gorilla glue is super strong I just dunno if there’s a method of removal for the tape
It's only a few months since you posted this video. Did the Anker unit showed signs of falling off or it still stuck in place?? I t hink this is your Anker model A8396. I see there is a model A8392? Which one is better? Where I am from, the A8396 (used) cost just as much as the A8396(new).
by the way can your ultra wide do pip and pbp ? i use a 49 inch monitor that i can use my two pcs my gaming and streaming pc on the right is my gaming and left is the stream pc on my 49 inch ultra wide . allot of ya people that own ultra wides dont know you can do this pip and pbp feature dang ya is underutilizing your monitors
do you not know that your monitor has picture in picture and picture by picture witch lets you use one side for console or one side for a pc i use my ultra wide for my dual pc setup and consoles my gaming pc is on the left and consoles go on the left side too streaming rig is on the right
but sticking things with 3M tapes suck cause they are a pain to remove. I usually just velcro hold all of my stuff even if it looks 5% uglier than with the 3M tapes
