R.I.P Mark ❣️ You had your demons, but you had a voice powerful enough to break through the gates of heaven. I will never forget how your time with Screaming Trees shaped my youth. You will never be forgotten! 💔
Another lost Seattle grunge rock music hero 🌈😓God bless you Mark Lanegan, say hello to Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, Shannon Hoon, Andy Wood, Taylor Hawkins and all the dearly departed up there in rock n roll Heaven.
i know: wavy lines, blobs of green, it's just a typical crap video you know... with lanegan singing normally in the background, being innocent. it's probably the camera. And yes, they could.
One of the most powerful, distinctive, and gifted voices, that I ever heard in my life. On what would have been your 58th birthday today. We we still love you Mark, and will never lose what you have given us, meaningful, awesome music of our time and generation.
RIP the two members of Screaming Trees Mark Lanegan (November 25, 1964 - February 22, 2022), age 57 Van Conner (March 17, 1967 - January 17, 2023), age 55 You both will be remembered as legends
We usually test the sound system and data link some youtube videos. The pauses in this video gave our IT department a freaking panic attack just before an important teleconference. The panic on their faces was EPIC!
Bite the thorn that pierce the skin Come back down to earth again The cold is creeping deep inside You disconnect the telephone line Gotta get away Gotta get away Get away Gotta get away 'Fore the Lord gonna make me stay All that I know Shoulda been Coulda been Mine I killed the last way out of this Persuaded by a deceitful kiss That said you better stay Said you better stay Better stay Said you better stay 'fore it's all gone Gone away All that I know...(repeat) Bite the thorn that pierce the skin Come back down to earth again The cold is creeping deep inside You disconnect the telephone line Gotta get away 'Fore I lose my mind Said you better stay 'Fore it's all gone Gone away All that I know All that I know
I was a young man during this era. The Trees and all the rest. So, so many gone (as I typed that, my heart actually ached). But I had just met my future wife, we having a lot of fun, and we had all these great bands. What a time to be alive!
I lived in SF when it all shook loose. Then I moved to Tahoe and shredded to all these tunes in blizzards on mountaintops... Janes Addiction's Coming Down The Mountain was my favorite. Then go into the clubs for late night endeavors. Holy Christ, what phenomenal times they were.
RIP Mark Lanegan. You were in one of the greatest bands ever. Your music helped me through some of the hardest times of my life. For that, I thank you. We miss you
I love this song! One of my favorites from the 90's too bad this video skips at some parts =( love the Screaming Trees! "I Nearly Lost You" is another kick ass tune by this band
Very true. Have you seen his contribution for the song "Brother" from Alice in Chains' that was for a mopop award that AIC recieved? Tons of awesome people did covers and Mark did "Brother" with Nancy Wilson and some others. It was pretty freaking awesome!!
To me they are all gone. I love Eddie but once they ditched Abbruzzese they went down. Idk how they've survived this long. And they got great musicians like McCready, Lament and Gossard
Great band , amazing songs ! You will be missed Mark , have A Blessed journey home dude , thanks for the songs , wishing you lots of unfailing Love forevermore !
@John Winkler except I lived there for 4 decades. Seen them & many band from the era in clubs that no longer exist. Now Seattle is a junkie wasteland, but what do you know?
Hahaha! Man! I went searching to see if anyone had started a band named "SKIPPING TREES" as of yet! It's with head shaking regret that I must inform you that so far, nobody has. However, keep your head held strong! For when the day arrives! And the people come to look up #SKIPPINGTREES or SKIPPING TREES, their search shall take them here, my friend. To witness the inspiration of some kick ass new hard rocking band and to you. The inspiration of it all..... Even if I hafta start the band myself.
Somebody please fix this most awesome video. RIP Mark Lanegan. 🙏 The 90's thanks you and all you did for us. The music scene wouldn't have been or turned out the same without you. Tell Layne and Scott and Chirs and the rest to jam hard again for all us left behind.
so good...marks new solo albums are epic...he's got that voice that brings u into the guitar and the emotions he's portraying...simply put he's fucking pretty real...a true musician...dying breed sadly....rock needs some CPR
I met him on a tempe bus a Few years Back, He's a blast to party with!! I've loved the screaming trees from way back .they didn't get nearly the recognition they should have !
This reminds me of the early 90s I nearly was my boyfriends and my song. From back then. I loved his voice and he will be missed. RIP MARK your voice truly changed a generation we finally found a voice and it was yours.
I remember when they played it 24/7 on MTV Germany. I was very busy at this time, sharing the same unhealthy hobby as Lanegan and working my axx up to get the money for it. I was already over 30 years old, but still an unruly, depressive soul. I knew instandly that this lad had also a problem. It's the same when your'e in a strange city. You begin mechanically looking after a counterpart and you'll find him every damn time. He's gone now, so are all my close friends from the past. My better half and i are the only one alive, now we are near death too, and we're so thankful for every day we can spend together. We're still on methadone, but unfortunately it doesn't ease the pain anymore and our government does not allow any further help for former H-addicts.
it was 93 I was in 8th grade when I first heard ( nearly lost you ) I became a instant fan it really sux Mark Lanegan died , it feels like a piece of my childhood gone RIP Mark that voice of yours was gold
Holy shit! I love music suggestions. I haven't heard this song in 20+ years and I totally forgot about it. I can't find great music nowadays so it is awesome to rediscover songs, thanks to the suggestions.

Remembering this song as local radio,(X 103.3 barely plays Nearly lost you, let alone this great song. Listening to it now its alittle reminiscent of 70's Uriah Heep circa the album with Stealing, had some other song where the vocals and guitar just remind me of that.
I was 18 in 1990 and remember nirvana, STP, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, L7 but never heard of the screaming trees until around the late 90’s! If we’d had the internet back in the early 90’s the screaming trees would’ve been on everyone’s radar in the country!! They just weren’t marketed like the “BIG 3” Seattle bands of grunge!
R.I.P Mark ❣️ You had your demons, but you had a voice powerful enough to break through the gates of heaven. I will never forget how your time with Screaming Trees shaped my youth. You will never be forgotten! 💔
Couldn’t agree more.
Soundtrack of my youth, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots.

@Hunter Vonnegut Thanks.
Not to mention he was sober for over 2 decades before he died.
RIP Mark Lanegan. The great 90s bands are disappearing but the music will be here forever!
Why can't someone fix this fucking music video?! This is one of Screaming Trees best.......
i know: wavy lines, blobs of green, it's just a typical crap video you know...

A Gamer Called Moses no mate, it's corrupted too, stops dead in the chorus.
Oh, OK -- I thought it was my connection.

REST IN PEACE, MARK. GONE WAY TOO SOON.
Im grateful for RUclips so I can still listen to greats like Mark. His book is amazing, all around talented man. RIP - All the greats of the 90s era 🙏

I enjoyed so much good music from the 90's but years later, thanks to RUclips I see I also missed a lot of good music too

This song is the definition of timeless.

@Hunter Vonnegut nobody likes a band thats begging for attention
Bite the thorn that pierce the skin
Come back down to earth again
The cold is creeping deep inside
You disconnect the telephone line
Gotta get away
Gotta get away
Get away
Gotta get away
'Fore the Lord gonna make me stay
All that I know
Shoulda been
Coulda been

I killed the last way out of this
Persuaded by a deceitful kiss
That said you better stay
Said you better stay
Better stay
Said you better stay
'fore it's all gone
Gone away
All that I know...(repeat)
Bite the thorn that pierce the skin
Come back down to earth again
The cold is creeping deep inside
You disconnect the telephone line
Gotta get away
'Fore I lose my mind
Said you better stay
'Fore it's all gone
Gone away
All that I know
All that I know

I once questioned why people comment the song lyrics, and some guy set my ass straight on why. So thanks. I actually appreciate it.
RIP Mr. Lanegan, thanks a Lot for these works.
This song says it all about them , it shoulda been his/theirs . They deserved it all . RIP Mark the best voice in rock. Shoulda been all yours .

The most overlooked band from the 90s Washington alternative scene.
The Afghan Whigs come to mind as well...
agreed
Afghan Whigs are outstanding but aren't from the Washington scene...they are from Cinncy...
They were sooooo bad live tho. Ugh.
What? They were by no stretch of the imagination “bad” live.
RIP Mark.
This gentlemen and his partners deserves more respect, so RUclips or Vevo, re-upload this video withouth his annoying cuts.
Yes Vevo please fix
0:30 for a second I thought my connection had fucked up lmao.
ÁUß Code II same 🤣🤣🤣
Eu também
yeh why does it fuck up
This band cannot make a bad song no matter how hard they try. The screaming trees will take center stage again...
One of the pioneer bands of the Grunge era that almost no one knows about, and that is a DAMN tragedy.
RIP Mark Lanegan. You were in one of the greatest bands ever. Your music helped me through some of the hardest times of my life. For that, I thank you. We miss you
Another legend gone RiP mark... Gone but never forgotten. Thanks for some great songs✌️😆

Shame about mark
RIP Mark Lanegan. An entire era of great musicians is almost all gone. Grunge will live one even if its messengers did not.
To me they are all gone. I love Eddie but once they ditched Abbruzzese they went down. Idk how they've survived this long. And they got great musicians like McCready, Lament and Gossard

Bite the thorn that pierces the skin
Come back down to Earth again
The cold is creeping deep inside
You disconnect the telephone lines
Got to get away, got to get away, get away
Got to get away before the Lord calls me to stay
All that I know should've been, could've been mine
I killed the last way out of this
Persuaded by a deceitful kiss

Said you better stay before it's all gone, gone away
All that I know should've been, could've been mine
And for all that I know
Should've been, could've been mine
Bite the thorn that pierces the skin
Come back down to Earth again
The cold is creeping deep inside
You disconnect the telephone line
Got to get away, got to get away, get away
Got to get away before I lose my mind

Said you better stay before it's all gone, gone away
