Apart from some new vocabulary, I could understand a lot of it, but still there were expressions I had not seen before like using 等等 for "and so on". I also had not seen 上面写着 as a sentence structure before. I knew the individual words but it's useful to memorize it as a structure.

It's good to know 手叉腰 for "hands on the waist". Actually, I usually say "hands on the hips". But that probably still translates as 手叉腰. Strict translation as 手叉髋骨 is probably not used.

We are taught that 是 is not used with predicate adjectives. However, I think that for colours (and some other adjectives) 是 的 must be used. So 头发是黑色的 is the correct expression … I think that 我也是短头发 really should be 我也是短头发的. This is short for 我也是 (一个带) 短头发的 (人) I think that 是 的 should be used, but the elements in brackets are usually omitted.

Yes! Both are ok, “我戴着眼镜” refers to the state I had in the photo (I was wearing glasses), “我戴眼镜” indicates the fact that “I wear glasses”
