To be honest I do not. My car was never equipped with navigation so I didn’t have the RTI. Your best bet is to poke around the forums to see if anyone has done it/knows how to do it or if it’s even possible. Sorry I couldn’t be more help
@@izard2k Iv juw gotten a 2002 xc70 with rti but it's not popping up. My idea is to have it pop up and show e.g. An android phone... Mostly for navigation really
Thinking about getting this! Do the button lights on the left change color or can you’d still it up as white all the time? I’m not a fan of the colored light 😖
I actually changed it to just show up as white! I’m not a fan of the multicolor light as well, it’s easily changeable through the settings on the headunit. Overall I’m really happy with the headunit!!
Hello! Sorry to bother. I have a volvo s60 2001 petrol. It would be great if you could help me figure out this project of mine. The only concern I'm seeing is the re-wiring. It's not really just plug and play. Can you give some more information of how it is rewired to fit the new device? EDIT: Is this the wiring harness adapter that you bought? "CRUX SWRVL- 54 WIRING INTERFACE"
Hey so go to crutchfield.com and then you can enter your car’s details. Afterwards it will point you to the stuff you need for a wiring harness. I don’t know if ours are exactly the same, but that website will specify. Lmk if you need anymore info
Hey! I purchased the faceplate from crutchfield.com they have different kinds of faceplates for whatever model vehicle you have. Just gotta enter the details on their website
Hey! This is a universal headunit. The only thing that would most likely differ between my V70 and your S60 are components of the wiring harness. I made my own harness, however crutchfield.com makes custom harnesses when you purchase the headunit.
@@NverNo.1 from other cars I’ve done this with it’s always had the change channel button be the skip song button, but the steering wheel buttons were dead from when I bought the car and I’ve been lazy to fix it lol
Hey man, thanks for leaving this video here. I can't get this model over in the EU but you inspire me to perform the same upgrade on my 2000 Volvo V70 (to be). One question: how are you experiencing navigation with this installation? One thing I am worried about is that the screen is quite far-off my usual field of view. That's my modern units are farther up towards the windshield. I'm thinking of mitigating this with a unit that pops out a little, the screen could therefore sit somewhat higher. Not my installation of choice but considering if it's necessary. Thanks for the help!
So far navigating has been alright. Took some adjustment having to look downwards each time but I’ve acclimated to it. Having it higher would definitely be nice. I appreciate the kind words and hopefully all goes well with your install!
Idea how to upgrade the RTI ?

you inspired me to do it ^^,|
couldn't be happier with my 2001 volvo with carplay
No problem, glad you enjoy it!!
I'm trying to put CarPlay in my v70 and I was just wondering if you were able to put back the cupholder with the CarPlay header?
I did not, however they make specific ones that keep the cupholder and fit the carplay headunit.
@@izard2k you got any links or sources ?
Anybody know if this head unit would work with a 2009 Volvo?
The headunit is universal, it would just be the wiring harness that’s specific

what faceplate did you use, i own a 2003 xc70 and it seems like its the exact same thing. Thank you!

The new one can't play cassette...😢
Haha yeah unfortunately that is the tradeoff once replacement to a modern unit
Would this stereo be compatible with the 2006 Volvo S60??

You should look into heat shrink with solder inside
this would bassically be the same with a 2005 volvo s60r right?
It should!
@@izard2k cool! how did you retain steering wheel audio buttons?

Does it work with the steering wheel buttons?
I didn’t opt for the harness with steering wheel control
@@izard2k Tsk! Tsk! Get back in there and put one on. LOL!
