    It's almost as if Faure went to Heaven and brought back what he heard.
    Words can't describe the beauty of this music.

    I'm listening to these heavenly sounds on Good Friday, 2021. Thank you, Lord!

    If Fauré had written nothing else, his Requiem op. 48 would make him immortal.

    The first time I heard this, I was at my father's funeral. The choral sound was so ethereal -- everyone in the church had awestruck looks on their faces -- we truly thought we were listening to angels.

      During personal bereavement of family or friends our senses are hightened, and we can feel nearer to the Divine than at other times.

    I pulled out my score from the Singers Summer School and gazed fondly at my yellow highlighted bits. I didn't think I should "cheat" like that but...

    Thank you for this recording. I need to learn it for a funeral in a couple of days and it's helped a lot to perfect what I'm singing :)

    This escorted the casket of Jacqueline Kennedy from the cathedral and I thought it must be the angels singing at the Gates of Heaven. I had never heard it before. I have asked that it be played at the end of my funeral.

    Check first note written after bar 20 on the music. This piece of music is so beautiful to the ear. Thanks.

      Yes, it should be C#!!!

    • @douglasbruce4991
      @douglasbruce4991 3 года назад +1

      It is a D natural, as written by Fauré. A pedantic composer or editor would have put a natural sign ( ♮) at the start of the new bar, but if no sharp sign is given, convention indicates a return to the natural. I don't know where you got the crazy idea of a C#..:! C double sharp is a possible, but again pedantic, notation.

    The first note in measure 20 should be a C#!

      No. D natural is what the man wrote. Whatever makes you think it should be different?

    • @dawneasthope5404
      @dawneasthope5404 4 года назад

      It is meant to be D natural because the music goes down by a semitone the same as in bar 18. The previous notes are D sharp both times

      What nonsense, D natural is correct of course.

    • @douglasbruce4991
      @douglasbruce4991 3 года назад

      D natural it is - in both 18 and 20, as written by Fauré. Bars 37 and 39 use a similar figuration.

      You are all quite correct!! Heaven knows what I was smoking that night, but I don't want any more any time soon! My apologies for my state of (fortunately) temporary stupidity! I hope it's not contagious!! I *really* don't know what got into me. I've sung the piece at least a dozen times!!
