Que je suis ravi d'entendre cette merveilleuse pièce de Gabriel Fauré! Je me sens hors de la terre. Merveilleuse aussi l'interpretation de la chorale et de l'orchestre. Mes félicitations au chef d'orcchestre.
OMG you had to die to hear this beautiful music? It is so gorgeous. I heard it first on the day the Challenger rocket blew up in the sky. Was in my San Francisco office and the classical music station played this and I listened on my FM radio on my desk, no internet, no Pandora, no texting, no cell phone, just me and my cubicle and my tears
I'm so glad to see this brilliant version up again. I hope it stays up. (And if Danmarks Radio Symfoniorkestret wants to take it down, please make it available somewhere else, for a charge or free). I would also love to see Brahms Requiem by the same orchestra, that was up on youtube before. They are really the best versions out there in my opinion.
Utterly heavenly sound by chorus and soloists. Believe it or not, when I am feeling sad or beaten down this is my go to music to heal my soul!!! Works every time!!!
I agree with remarks below that it is the best MP4 version of Fauré's Requiem available on RUclips: orchestral and visual directions, acoustics, the two soloists, and the choral passages. It is on the same level as my MP3 version with Carlo Maria Giulini conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus.
This was written for a BOYS choir. Boys, not men, women, girls, but only for BOYS. Otherwise you get this retched powerless hollow drowning screech. It's like handing the oboist a flugelhorn and waving a rainbow flag about the noise.
@ Avi Jarnex RM: From my brief research, the piece was scored for Mixed Chorus, not trebles/boys. At the Conservatory where I trained, we didn't use trebles because none were available at the time, nor were trebles required per the score from my research. And the Conservatory Chorus consisted of Women and Men. Again, from my brief research, the score does not specify a Boys' Chorus, although that is occasionally used. Many choral ensembles with women have performed this piece -- including Robert Shaw's superb Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus -- and hopefully that hasn't stopped you from enjoying the best performances, including this stellar performance by this Chorus from Danmark. They couldn't be any better! Their soprano section sounded similar to a Boys' Chorus, which was their goal. They sang with absolute perfect intonation and the same for the rest of the Chorus. Their diction is impeccable. They are outstanding. They bring tears to my eyes with their choral excellence; it is choral excellence at its finest. So just because trebles were not part of the performance, surely you could get over that for a moment and try to enjoy this superb performance. There are so many pieces in the choral repertoire where traditionally or typically boys' voices were historically used but that is less so these days or not always possible in the real world. This Chorus has performed with a superb Boys' Chorus from Copenhagen -- The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir -- their Orff's Carmina Burana performance comes to mind. In this performance, there was absolutely no "screech" or wobbling (vibrato) from this soprano section anywhere in this performance. Their Chorus Director is one of the best since he prepared the Chorus and is ultimately responsible for their performance. You must be commenting on the wrong channel that featured some poorly-trained Chorus.
@ Avi Jarnex RM The problem is not the choice of musical means. The only problem is your resentment that someone made a choice that was not to your liking. Regrettable.
Blessed of all Requiems! 2023 still watching, still singing along to.
Welch eine wunderbare Aufnahme ! Solisten und Chor sind perfekt - höre ich mir immer gerne wieder an.
I found this on the afternoon of my father's funeral. It was very helpful, and I am comforted.
The end of Paradisum, and the moment of golden silence after it, brings a tear every time.

Easy - cleansing breath. I liked it. Go figure.
I also prefer the Requiem with a boys choir.

In music, there is nothing worse than a boy's choir. I'm glad they let the grown-ups handle it.
