What wonderful music that makes us transcend to fantastic emotional levels. Fauré was in fact a musical genius, unfortunately little known. His music has an indescribable sensibility and beauty. This masterpiece is sublime and fabulous in the way it was written. The lyricism of some parts is indescribable in beauty and sensibility. The direction and the orchestra are superb. Thanks for these moments of unforgettable pleasure.

How wonderful to hear these German musicians play French music so sensitively! And Bravo to their conductor!

wellllll,, to be pedantic; it is a German orchestra, but there are loads of non-Germans in it's ranks. The principal flute is Spanish and the second flute if American...very, very German ;).

dude forcaster One small clarification: It’s true that Clara Andrada de la Calle, one of the principal flutes of this orchestra, is Spanish, but the principal flute in this performance-Sebastian Wittiber-is German (a Frankfurter, in fact).

Hate to burst your bubble, but: most orchestras around the world have musicians from all over. Just because it's "Hessian," doesn't mean they're German musicians. Secondy, the conductor is French. I think it's great all the way around, but don't think they are Germans playing "sensitively."

    • @coloradoing9172

@@nedcrouch3202 Hate to be a d*ckhead like you, but it's secondly, not secondy. Also that colon after 'but' was not necessary. Just because in today's day and age grammar and spelling are things that aren't taught properly anymore, you don't have any reason to make such basic errors.

How exciting to hear a very familiar piece in a fresh, different performance! Having arranged some of this suite for piano, there are no real surprises in the inner parts, but the way this group brings one or another to the fore is invigorating (e.g. the little bassoon interpolation at 11'34'). Much as I love my old Ansermet record, this is infinitely clearer.--and different in some ways. Is that a German oboe? It has quite a different sound, making little solos like at 2'15' more authoritative. A great pleasure.

It is good that, in contrast to RUclips videos of the e.g. the 1950s, that so may musicians in orchestras of today are young and female. We will all have seen performances from those "old times" where all of the players were middle aged men and elderly men.

Oh you are talkimn' aboiut the "old days" of the 19 80's when conductor Herbert von Karahan, and even Leonard Bernstein, would lead those "lily white" symphony orchestras. The music hasn't changed, just the way that it's delivered .
