As an ex Ratite Rancher with wild hatched ratites I highly recommend feed training grapes to your ratites as a treat. You can use the grapes to put medication inside if needed.
My ratites loved green grapes. They would run after the rolling grapes like the Roadrunner. I was hysterically funny😂😅😂
I believe they have fed grapes and other fruit to Nugget before and he really enjoyed it. Don’t remember though what was his favorite.

I love the idea of meds inside the grapes, how smart!! I wonder if that would work with my kids...🧐 I'm kidding, but it is a wonderful Idea. I know Jason and Brooke give treats to Nugget but the meds in grapes is just genius!

Jason your patience is amazing. So pleased Goldie is settling in to her new home. We were all, like you, holding our breath that it works out for you all. We notice how much you observe the Emus especially in your description of the difference between the birds (Emus). Once she fully settles she will understand what a wonderful home she has

Sheriff Nugget and Deputy Goldie are settling in fine together, and keeping the farm safe and sound. Along with Boss Hog lady.
The care and calm that you guys show to Goldie and all the animals makes them feel safe. There is no doubt that Ms. Goldie will become more adjusted each day. One thing for sure, they have plenty of room to explore. Ms. Goldie may not have received the kind of attention that Nugget has had.
I’m so happy Goldie is getting adjusted to your farm. You’re doing a great job.
I think Goldie is doing great for being with you such a short time. She has a wonderful home with you and Nugget.
Goldie looked at you like, " What is he doing? Did he hurt that other emu, or what is he doing on the ground? I have to watch him( the human) closely! LOL! She is coming along nicely in her new home. I noticed that Goldie was following Brooke when Brooke wasn't looking at her - try sitting with Nugget and not watching her to see if she will come - there is a guy who visits animal shelters and when he goes into a cage with a dog he always sits with his back to the dog at first and it always works!
TheMryphipps......I watch that guy sometimes, think his name is Kenaka and he is, I think, in Hawaii! He gets those dogs to come around when they are so scared or afraid. It's great to see!

Both Nugget and Goldie are beautiful birds! I think they are more beautiful than other emu’s I’ve seen! I’m so pleased how settled and peaceful they are!

Goldie seems happy with her home, the other animals seem happier in their new pasture area. Even peaches seems like she is moving around a bit more.😊

Make your compost bins wide enough for the tractor bucket and consider lining them with cattle panel and shade cloth.
With the compost bins being so close to the animals, won't it bring a lot of flies to bother the animals when it's fly season?

The compost bins are a great idea! If you put wood gates on the backside of them, you can scoop it right into the tracker bucket. Yeah! Such a great idea!

It’s good seeing that Goldie isn’t terrified of the dogs. She must know they aren’t threatening predators. She’s been through a tragic experience. PTL she’s comfort. I know she was loved and well cared for before but, like humans, she needed to move on to recover.

Goldie will get it she’s just hanging around to make sure she’s safe she’s went thru a traumatic experience but she will come around , I lived in a country setting and there was a emu on the run and I seen it in my yard it was awesome I don’t know if they caught her or him but he’s out there it was my first time I ever saw or knew about emu’s

A compost system close to the barn is a great idea. 👍👍 Remember to have a bin of organic material to cover up each fresh deposit of manure to the compost bin so your compost area will not smell. 🤭🤭 Such as leaves or wood chips as a cover. Collect some left over hay from under the hay feeders. Just a thought 👍♥️♥️

Jessie is bonded to goats. Had surgery when baby and was with the goats because vet said she should not have babies. Bottle baby through and through.
Dear love Goldies, I think, deep down, she wants to cuddle and be petted but she’s still a bit timorous. And, the Sheriff is doing his ‘Sheriff jobs’, keeping her away from his ‘human’. I was interested to read the comment about feeding grapes to the emus, good way to get medication into them when required. You are doing a fantastic job with all your animals. Very enjoyable to watch.

I’m so happy Goldie is settled in and she and Nugget are enjoying each others company and I’ll bet in just a short time she will get ti where she enjoys coming around y’all and maybe even enjoy getting her back scratched like nugget does but if not just feeling comfortable enough to walk up to y’all is great also !! Jason I think the composting area out by the barn fence is a great idea and would work out better y’all when cleaning the stalls!!
