I bought a 2021Corolla hybrid w/ blind spot monitor. I've had it for about 3 weeks and LOVE the car. It has decent acceleration for a hybrid, is pretty comfortable, and best of all, I'm averaging 63.7 mpg!!!! I'm a mobile dog trainer and do a lot of driving. Well worth the money.

For about $3000 over a Corolla LE, you get the hybrid system plus the the electronic center gauge cluster, smart key entry with push button start and alloy wheels instead of steel wheels under the hubcaps. You also get lower maintenance costs since it barely uses the brake pads and has no belts (no fan belts or other engine belts, no CVT belts etc.).
You obviously save a lot on fuel, have a much longer driving distance between fuel stops and get significantly quicker low speed acceleration from a stop.
The more you drive on stop and go surface streets, the more benefits you will get get in brake pad savings, better fuel economy and acceleration vs the gas version LE.
Plus you should get some of that extra $3000 back at resale time especially if selling with some of the 10 year 150K mile hybrid warranty remaining. No warranty coverage of any kind left on gas Corolla past 5 years, 60K mikes unless you paid extra for an extended warranty.

got the 2021 hybrid and absolutely love it. currently getting 55.5mpg. came from an 06 Acura Tl. I miss the heft and wider wheelbase. the corolla is a little squirrelly steering compared to the Tl. could just be differences in the power steering systems. all in all though zero regrets going hybrid.
had to fill up the Acura twice a week with premium fuel, down to once a month with regular. what a ridiculous savings

You missed the 3 driving modes, Standard, ECO, & Power. I'm getting 60mpg if I drive using the eco computer. In EV mode, you can top out at 150mpg! EV acceleration also reacts differently depending on which mode your in. The AC also has 2 modes. This car runs so cool that I found myself in 90° weather with just the fan on. I'm super pleased with this car. If you can't get laid in this car, it's because you have a "small" personality!

11:55 Just so people know, the U.S. model 2021 Corolla Hybrid does NOT include a spare tire. It has a fix-a-flat sealant/compressor kit. Someone creative figured out there's enough space to fit a full size spare tire after you remove all of that foam under the carpet... Oddity is that the Canadian model does come with a spare tire.

This is my first brand new car- and coming from a 2005 Ford Escape, man this thing is godly. Maybe not as many features as more expensive trims but definitely updated features for 2021- especially the cruise control that helps keep you in the lane and distances from other cars. It feels like 70% Tesla at times.
I drive a lot and have stop&go traffic at least once a week. With my escape? Filling up twice a week easily and won’t make unnecessary trips downtown (San Diego), but in this Corolla? I OFFER to pick up my friends food orders just to drive it and keep going everywhere. I’m down a quarter of a tank (haven’t filled it since I got it) @ 200 miles- mostly highway. I’m already saving money and that’s really what I wanted

In Europe the Corolla Hybrid is available as a sedan like this, a hatchback like a VW Golf, and a wagon. Where I live the wagon is also available as a 2-liter hybrid that has 180 hp, and that gets to 100 kph in about 8 seconds. The car is hugely popular, especially the wagon version, so the waiting time for a new sedan with typical options is about 14 weeks in my area.

I drive for a living and the gas savings from my prior vehicle (Scion Xb) reduces the adjusted monthly payment cost significantly. The distance between fueling is incredibly favorable. The keyless entry and push button start is very convenient in general but has an enhanced special convenience considering I drive for a living and am entering and exiting the vehicle approximately 40 times per week. Unfortunately the audio connection to the cell phone is a failure and using my vehicle for a living makes that failure significantly annoying. The steering assist and the speed/breaking control is nice. The blue tooth connection is so problematic that I dislike the car. The mileage is remarkable. Major News Flash: I drove about 8900 miles in the 4 months of ownership and I average 61 mpg.

I need your opinion, please. I have never had a hybrid and I don't have access to outside power for EV only. I am primarily interested in the electric motor torque. Between the Corolla, Insight, Sonata, Accord and Camry, which one provides the greatest torque at start? I know Honda uses EV to power the car and the gas engine charges the battery. Is that felt in the take off more than the Corolla? Does the Sonata provide the more comfortable ride and still deliver off the line power? How would you actually compare these cars? If you already have a video, please direct me.

That radio does not sound bad for a base system. How was it driving with the urethane wheel without leather? My only concern with urethane would be that it would be rough to the touch and therefore unpleasant to steer with. One other notable change which I liked was that in 2020 you could not get Satellite radio in the Corolla Hybrid. That was added for 2021. One thing I had heard though not confirmed but makes sense when you think about it. Apparently Toyota did not want cannibalize sales from it's Prius by offering a more upmarket Corolla also in Hybrid. Would be nice to be able to option in the JBL system or native NAV but as you said full smartphone integration is available and the base radio sounds much better than I was expecting.

I get around 55-57 mpg. I drive 160 miles a day. About 98% highway. 62mph is the sweet spot on Cruise control. The engine turns off and uses the hybrid mode when it’s level ground or down hill. When not using cruise control you can use the electric motor alone with the engine off up to 70 mph BUT you have to be progressive with the gas pedal. I bought mine in July 2021, I already have 15,000 miles! No regrets. I get about 550 miles per tank. Only has a 10 gallon gas tank.

People would expect it to be faster because of the styling, but it would actually be slower and have worse gas mileage because of the 18” wheels.

Had a 3rd gen Prius, now a 4th gen...a much better car, in fact, the most enjoyable car/m/c I have owned for several years. The hatch is the reason I would NOT consider a Corolla. Thanks.

@@fidelm3371 honestly I really miss my Prius... what I miss about it is the space it was a little more spacious, it was basic so there was nothing really to compare I definitely have more features now the ride is smooth, I feel slightly higher, idk but I feel like my gas mileage on the Carolla is slightly better, Apple car play is awesome, and the power mode is powerful... lol I like it I just miss my Prius style I guess...

@@fidelm3371 The hybrid Corolla has the same powertrain as the 4th gen Prius, so the performance should be roughly equal.

How quickly is this engine going to burn oil by cranking up to a high rmp from cold because the electric means I can't warm it up in the morning.
Can you warm up the engine or is it just electric motor and then the engine cranks up cold? 😅 If kinda like to be able to warm the engine up a bit before I have to mash the gas you know?

    • @CarConfections
      @CarConfections  2 года назад +1

Generally, in cold weather the engine fires up at initial start up because it needs to warm up the cabin

The regular Gas power LE is $3000 cheaper. That'll buy over 1000 gallons of gas.
It'll be over 40,000 miles before the hybrid saves You any money on
fuel. Plus the hybrid is slower.
