I can't quantify how much I love the concept and content of this video! If you ever did an intersectional book tour of Rowan's bookshelf and/or just intersectional kid's lit in general, I'd be SO down.
I love this video! And Hannah, may I just say, I just love the ”new style” of the videos made this year. They are so professional, funny and warm, while educating important subjects. Amazing. ♥️
…just wanted to pop back in and say your videos have always been funny and very professional! ❤ I just wanted to express my love for these new ways of doing your videos and I admire the way you always find new ways to develope your style and videos. Your channel is so warm, safe and interesting. 🥰
Wasn't expecting to learn about the rare book world through this and it was so fascinating!!! Would love to continue seeing community staples like this (and in your other recent videos) featured on your channel. You're the best, Hannah! x
I love this video and the people you speak with. I particularly love the woman at Bookmarks and I just want to give her a virtual hug, if she wants one. But all of the people are such a delight. Thank you!
@@hannahwittonI’m in a confusing mood at the moment as idk what control I should try as I’m new at it all And my month is bad too as I suffer with mental health & plus hormones problems too luckily my partner is supportive as well ❤
this was so good to watch! my girlfriend and i are visiting london this weekend from manchester, so this has been really cool to discover some new places! deffo gonna try and visit the common press
This is so cool and exciting and completely inspired me to read - Hannah I completely love these videos where you get out of the studio and into places where other people and thinking and changing some of the things this channel cares about in their own way!
Recently travelled to London from the west of Ireland and did several days of scouring bookshops, including some in this video! It brings me such joy to know these places exist and are run by such enthusiastic, lovely people! Great video as always Hannah
Hannah, I've loved your content since about 2016-2017 and I'm so proud of how far you've come and will continue to go! I'm also so thrilled for you and your growing little family 🤗🌻💛 Congratulations, and I'm rooting for you in my small town in Michigan! I don't know if you're on Twitch, but I hope to see you at Twitchcon in Las Vegas this fall! Would love to meet you finally!
this was such a great video! it’s always so important to remember just how real and deep rooted communities like this are and have been and bookshops are such amazing places to really get a feel for that. thanks for sharing!
Brilliant!!! And the timing couldn't be more perfect for my upcoming trip to London! I've only visited Gay's the Word before, but the others are now must-visits! Thanks Hannah :)
Love this so much! When you read your buys above i’d love to hear your thoughts on them & any other great books your reading. This is a genre i haven’t delved into before so i’ve noted many new books to read from this video ❤❤❤ thank youuu
I've been subscribed to your channel for at least 6 years (and the new channel as soon as you started it) now and have always loved it but especially lately, they are a source of HUGE joy for me. I tend to watch them after a long work day while eating dinner. absolutely love them, continue to rock, i loveee your content.❤
i know where I need to go when i visit london again! ive been to gays the word but haven't been to any of the others and didnt even know they existed - very excited to visit them in the future :D
i've only ever been to gays the word, but jim and the rest of the staff have always been so so lovely! such a great vibe and a great selection of books!
Hannah, you're on fire at the moment! I love all the videos you've made in the last few weeks! You're like a little niche of super random but super interesting and relatable and fun to watch videos :D
I’ve been watching you for years but just have to comment to say how much your warm personality jumps off the screen in this video!!! You are so lovely to watch ❤
Ah this is awesome! You are really smashing out incredible videos Hannah, I'm loving it. Brilliant stuff, and I definitely need to visit the children's sections of these!
I really hope to visit gays the word one day. When i heard about it for the first time it sounded like heaven. When i was 14 to imagine there was a shop where i didnt have to search for the two-three queer books that was in the ya section but instead pick between all queer books?! Although i migjt not be able to visit gays the word for some time an lgbt bookshop opened in the region where i lived recently and it felt like a miracle because i had never thought that would be possible in my area. I feel so lucky to have access to that space, it creates visbility on a whole new level.
What a brilliant look at a world I would likely never come in contact with. Thank you Hannah for enriching my perspective and for a very interesting watch. Peace
I love the video, thank you so much! Now I've got 13 more books on my shopping list 😄 I had so much fun watching that video and i would like to hear your opinion on them if you had read them ❤
next time I travel to England, I am definitely visiting some of these stores. According to this one person I follow who has a book club and is from the US, when she visited England, their books are way cheaper than they are here in the US. That, plus the sheer amount of cool bookstores and books in this video would just make me have no self control when it comes to buying books
@hannahwitton I'm guessing this reply (also seen on a bunch of your other comments with same reply to them, username @hannah_witton0) is a copycat trying to leech, or even phish users/scam somehow? Should probably report?
This is the perfekt video for me rn because I'm always looking for book recommendations (especially from knowledgable book sellers) and I'm combing to London this Summer and was planning to visit book shops like that
I'm a bi and disabled children's author and I really wonder what the criteria is for being included in a shop like this? It was interesting to see the kids' sections in the book shops. I can see that they have some of my fave series that are similar to mine - so like Murder Most Unladylike has quite noteworthy representation in terms of having an Asian protagonist and a major character coming out as lesbian later on. But then there's something like Nevermoor which I would say is a lot more like my books in terms of just having a fairly diverse cast and a queer author. I have to wonder if I just need to increase the visibility of these aspects in my books or of myself... But I really feel quite afraid of doing that based on so much negative past experience 😢
this is so refreshing to see, especially the part about books for children...I'm a US viewer and these kinds of books are getting banned left and right over here!
On the topic of all things intersectional, let's keep wearing our masks indoors people! It's such a simple act of solidarity with those who are vulnerable to covid, as well as the growing population of folks navigating long covid.
I'm not sure if the lovely book seller in Bookmarks mentioned it, but I would highly recommend Why Women Have Better Sex Under Socialism by Kristen R. Ghodsee for your upcoming video! All the best from Berlin, x
Hannah if you haven't come by cold intimacies the making of emotional capitalism by Eva Illouz for your video about sex and capitalism it might help. Her main thesis is that we are buying our ways into relationships - we prove our love through capitalism (buying expensive rings ect). I only read a few chapters for uni, but might have some directly related to sex - or at least to what sorrounds it (like romance)
Highly recommend everything by Cipher press, as recommended by the first bookshop!! Lovely to spot Nettleblack by Nat Reeve in the shop. This is my favourite book of all time, published by Cipher press last year. A book set in Victorian England featuring multiple sapphic and Non-binary characters solving mysteries and experiencing crushes! Great video!
Ah, I adore everything about this video except that I am 15 hours away by plane! If you are into feminist sci fi, I recommend Joanna Russ, all of her stuff is older, from the 70s and 80s, but delicious. I especially like her short story collection, The Zanzibar Cat (1983).
Great video!! I only knew gay's the word so I'll definitely make time to drop by all the other ones! Though I work in Bloomsbury so I'll need to restrain myself from going too frequently for the sake of my wallet 😂
Why I'm learning English in Ukraine? Because my dream is to go to that shops and buy lots of books🥰, we don't have much something interesting about sex, LGBT, or feminism here ((( only a few books
I can't quantify how much I love the concept and content of this video! If you ever did an intersectional book tour of Rowan's bookshelf and/or just intersectional kid's lit in general, I'd be SO down.
I'd love to see this as well!

As a book seller, this video is pure gold. ❤
The manager from the 1st bookstore was amazing. He is really passionate about what he is doing, and that's what we readers want and need
"Bookshops are here for the community "I'm literally sobbing
Fantastic video Hannah. The effort you put into these doesn't go unnoticed.
OMG I would not have been able to exhibit as much self control as Hannah. I would have come home with 50 books.
I love this video and the people you speak with. I particularly love the woman at Bookmarks and I just want to give her a virtual hug, if she wants one. But all of the people are such a delight. Thank you!
You are KILLING it with these videos, Hannah! Would love to know what you thought of the books once you've read a few x
Eee thanks so much! Hopefully will get a chance to read soon!

I love local bookstores so much, I love seeing them given some spotlight and support!
This was so wonderful and inspiring. So good to see the existence and power of radical bookshops!
I love this so much 😭 there's so much history out there we don't know about.
Visiting London soon and adding these shops to my must visit itinerary! Thank you for the tips Hannah!
I had no idea places like this existed, this is so cool! Thanks for opening my eyes to this
I was surprised so many have still survive, I'd definitely like to support these types of bookshops
Loved this video! So inspiring to see all of these books dedicated to such worthwhile topics and the shops that offer them 😍
