The first tune is Rose of Allendale (as in Allendale , Northumberland UK). The tune was written by Charles Jeffreys and the music by Sidney Nelson in the 1830's. Check it out.
July 2023 Rose of Allandale is delightful especially with the added sound of the recorder and gives me immediate happiness. Please keep on RUclips as there is no where else we can hear this wonderful music. Julie Keating, Donvale, Vic.
What amazes me is the fact that, in this day and age of In Your Face Music, we can have this style of music that takes us back to a time when America and Europe were great countries, in every way. Thank you, men.
"The Rose of Allandale" (also “The Rose of Allendale”), is an English folk song, with words by Charles Jefferys and music by Sidney Nelson, composed in the 1830s and appearing in Blake's Young Flutist's Magazine in 1833. Because the song has been recorded by Paddy Reilly and Mary Black, many people mistakenly believe the song to be a (traditional) Irish song. It is also often believed to be of Scottish origin.
I just love what you guys do. Watched several of your clips and cannot get enough. Please keep sharing the wonderful music you all do play, bring tears of joy to me. Thankyou!! Randy
Yes. There is a small town called Allendale deep in Norhthumberland. Many years it was served by a branch line from Hexham where the River North Tyne flows into the South Tyne , then to the Sea at Newcastle. The Allendale Railway Line closed many years ago. I've often wondered if there is a connection with the Song? Charlie, Aberdeen, Scotland
Wow! I loved this so much, guys! I sure hope you'll come back soon! Don't want to miss your wonderful music and singing! God bless you, Brother Charlie (froggiechar)
The moon was bright, the night was clear No breeze came over the sea When mary left her highland home And wandered forth with me The flowers be-decked the mountainside And fragrance filled the vale But by far the sweetest flower there Was the rose of allendale Oh the rose of allendale Sweet rose of allendale By far the sweetest flower there Was the rose of allendale Where e'er I wandered east or west Though fate began to lour A solace still was she to me In sorrow's lonely hour When tempests lashed our lonely barque And rent her quivering sail One maiden's form withstood the storm 'twas the rose of allendale Oh sweet rose of allendale Sweet rose of allendale One maiden's form withstood the storm 'twas the rose of allendale
Hello. "The Rosebud of Allenvale" is a Slow Air written by the famous Scottish Violinist, James Scott Skinner. 1843 to 1927. He belonged to Banchory, Kincardineshire, and is buried in Allenvale Cemetery, Aberdeen. Charlie, Aberdeen, Scotland
This music is just GREAT. It's just a pity you didn't use a quieter room for recording. the traffic noise spoils the beauty of the music. Any chance you could do a retake and rub the soundtrack over the video?.
