Anytime you are going through a difficult time put this song 🎵 on, and remember how difficult things were for our ancestors, and then come back to your here and now, it won't seem so bad after all. Love this song with all my heart. God bless you Pete for writing it and Paddy for singing it so gracefully. ☘
❤amen
Ay lads, the wife is 85% Irish, and she won't listen to my music unless I play this song!! God bless her Irish heart!! 😅
Oh, Paddy! God bless him!
My heart is always with Ireland🇮🇪 I admire the kindhearted strong Irish people, remember Dublin, it's streets. I really miss everybody I know! ❤
From Russia with love.
This should be a national anthem
What a beautiful voice Paddy has nobody sings this song as good as him
My oldest brother Micheal passed away and I played this song at his memorial.
Wow, I have no idea how you could get through it? I can hardly keep from crying every time I hear it !
No auto tune, gimmicks, or flash - pure talent at its finest.
Just brilliant
@@shemmac4700ciao shem! 🙋♀️😍😘💘🍀🌅
Ya they dont make artists like that anymore ^_^
That's our paddy
Im an English man but this song is absolutely fantastic the lyrics show just how bad the ancestors of us all suffered at the hands of the justice system at that time. Beautifully written and sung love it with all of my being God bless and thank you for a fantastic and poignant song

She was the sister you had, the sister you picked
Am here because we just lost to Ireland in the group stages of the Rugby World Cup. Irish fans belted this tune at the stadium and had to search it out. Hope we meet again in the finals 😊
As an Australian, this song resonates with me. A cruel part of our history.
Aye, cruelty by English Government and its landlord agents. SHAME ON THEM ALL!!!
and my English country
I t is no different in a sense now Toryism at it’s ruthless evil
Paddy had to have had one of the most Angelic Voices for a man on the Planet !! Beautiful all I can say is just ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL !!!!! Makes my Irish roots proud !
Ive been to Dublin twice . The Irish people are some of the kindest gentlest people you will ever meet Godless them all
You mean " God Bless "
I'd give anything to meet this man,
He's a legend and the reason I've went into the music business
He was running his own bar in new York for years don't know if he's still there.
They say never meet your heroes, but that doesn't apply to Paddy. So gracious, patient, kind, engaging, energetic. I could go on and on.
What's not to love about this song. We should be able to bottle Paddy's voice to let our grandchildren know what they missed!
This song is about Love and Freedom and how you don't appreciate these things until they're taken away. My life is so richer with the songs of this man and Luke Kelly !
Listened to this and other Irish songs while visiting Ireland and driving around. Best memories ❤❤
How can you sing that beautiful song without crying?
Great song and nobody can sing it, like Paddy Reilly. So lucky, to have Paddy singing, so many, great songs. Great voice!
A fantastic version of this beautiful song, as vibro2 said "pure talent"
Brilliant performance, what a singer
Such a voice you'll not find today.

Me too
Our love was on the wing ❤
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry!! ❤❤
What an amazing voice. Gives one chills.

The young Irish need to listen to these songs. Listen to the words.

Great Presentation,
Beautiful Irish voice and song as a remember during my trips to the South, what is Ireland like now with the European government destroying that beautiful place with immigrants.

His version of Carrickfergus is also the best, by far.

Happy Easter Ireland it's a long time from 16th of the Easter horizon😊 I remember, do you remember?!!!
❤️❤️❤️
Same kind of gov. In Britain is in now... excellent portrayal of those days...
Interesting comments there!!
I had a couple of pints with paddy in the liffey bar during intermission from liberty hall 1967 the best ever.
❤
This is the saddest song ever written
Perfid Albion ,perfid then, perfid now, perfid to the day of their doom.
"Rose up your kilt" sghorra Breac...Black mountain!
Isn't it the original version of the song, from 1972 or so by Paddy Reilly, Am I that old?
Pete st john wrote this song but paddy is the man.
Super song and preformer class
Pete St John had the better voice and sang a slightly faster tempo, which for me worked better,.
Still pertinent #palestine 😘🇮🇪
And this was right before Eamonn Campbell joined the Dubliners after Luke Kelly's death
Technically Eamonn joined The Dubliners after Ciaran Bourke's death, which was in 1988. Luke died in 1984.
That's right, Eamonn had been guesting with The Dubliners for quite a while, but they wouldn't get a permanent fifth member whilst Ciaran was still alive, as they considered it his spot, even though there was no chance he would be able to return. After Ciaran's death, Eamonn got his membership card.
The Crown ran my poor ancestors out of their homes. Little do I respect the Brits!
legend love his music unied ireland and parlimant if scotland has it why cant we
