@@hgvtim Break down whatever you are trying to learn into its separate chunks and spend the time on that one part until you can do it literally with your eyes closed and without even really concentrating on doing it.
Don't move onto doing anything else or Jam ect until you have got to this point then move onto the next bit, of the routine, the next cut ect until you have worked your through it all.
Then you can put all those small actions you can do with your eyes closed together at the end into the full routine and last of all work on your Timing and Speed.

Some nice techniques here! Can't say I agree with suggesting people sign up to 'DJ ready' record pools though... You're essentially promoting music piracy, even if in this context it's for people to access instrumentals/ accapellas, the people doing that will also realise they can get a load of other music for free. For those of us who are producers as well as DJs it's already hard enough to make money from music as it is without other DJs suggesting people sign up to services which distribute our music for free, TO the one crowd that should be buying the music in the first place; DJs.

  • @w.jasonspangler2952

I may be the only one who thinks this but to me, this isn’t DJing. Now obviously Jamie here is immensely talented and his knowledge of the standards in todays electronic music scene are second to none. But I feel when you start factoring in que buttons, sync controls, “drum samples” being utilized live, etc. you’ve gone beyond what DJing is to literally millions of people on the world.
I started DJing in 1998-99 and still, to this day, have my Technics 1200’s, a 4 channel Numark mixer which does utilize a Pioneer CDJ, an amp, and speakers. I can connect to my computer to both record sets, and stream live.
What I don’t do, and this is mainly based on principle and respect for the artist who produced the track, is play around with looping, sampling live, filters, etc.
I 100% respect those who DJ like how is described in these videos but my main question is, “Do any of these guys know how to manually beat match anymore?” To me, that is 60-70% of what DJing IS. Today I feel as if two tracks matching in pitch is simply a given and everyone just spends their time mucking everything up. It’s modern day “turntablism”… which I didn’t like in the 90’s-00’s and honestly can say i don’t see the appeal here and now, twenty years later.
The tracks are good enough on their own. Take your audience on a journey… not a frantic, seizure inducing sledgehammer of a set.
Regardless, the mere fact that electronic music is alive and well thrills me… During the Giuliani years we really thought they were gonna kill it forever.
