For Quo live performances, anything from this 1984 show or Birmingham NEC in 1982. I don't think anything later than this is as good. Caroline, Hold You Back, Forty-five Hundred Times.

Just about the best version of this song by anyone ever! So much better than the original. This was one of the songs which basically started Quo down the road of boogie rock. They heard it in Germany in the early 70's and have developed it to be one of the finest rock tracks ever performed live. This was meant to be their last ever tour. I was in the middle of that crowd somewhere, awesome day!

118m record sales worldwide yet almost unknown in the U.S.! Go figure that out.
First gig 1962, last gig 2024, a UK phenomenon.
"Energy" is the right word to describe the Quo. If you're serious about doing more Quo just start at the beginning of this gig and take it from there.

There was a lot of internal tension within Status Quo in the early 80s, and in 1984 they decided to call it a day and go on one last big tour. They did the tour and figured that was it. A year later, Bob Geldof asked Quo to re-form to play Live Aid (they opened it, as a matter of fact), and playing that gave them a whole new lease on life. You definitely will want to check out their Live Aid performances of Rockin' All Over The World and Caroline.

Saw quo twice in the 70's they always put on a good gig the jumping up and down and singing to the bit in the middle was a thing with quo fans and this track they were one of them bands that knew how to work an audience.

  • @whitedrguy6503

John Coghlan was the original drummer who added a real groove and swing, he left the band in 81, Alan Lancaster left the band a few years later and emigrated to Australia, during the seventies they were called the frantic four because of the energy they created on stage.
Status Quo we’re a prime example of music doesn’t have to overly complicated with virtuoso musicians, just play music people can party too.

They thought that tour was their last. Live Aid (they opened that one actually!) and many more reasons made them return in 1978 I think, and keep going since then. To tell more would be writing a book.
