So to jump start a vehicle with my Cruze, I have to access the battery in the trunk? I can't find the negative terminal under the hood.

You can! Jump it like any normal battery if you want to use the actual battery in the trunk.

no, you should leave the vehicle with the good battery running when starting the dead one. promptly disconnect one or the other once dead vehicle is running.
