- In this video, I discuss all of the issues I have with ARK Ascended, including The Island, Scorched Earth and The Center, I will be making a follow up video to discuss Aberration, Ragnarok and other maps.

For whatever reason, DaVinci Resolve capped my framerate at 24, and I didn't know until 20 hours into the project.
In this video, I discuss the graphics settings and performance optimisation ark ascended offers, and the ark updates that have been implemented to patch it. I discuss ark buildings, cryopod balancing, cave building, Bobs Tall Tales, the pyromane and the oasisaur. I also look at the new shastasaurus. The term "Pay-to-win" has been a thing since the beginning of even Survival Evolved. Have you ever tried using a Rex on the island, only to get swarmed by people on Shadowmanes knowing you can't even go tame it?
There’s a total of “technically” 4 DLC, which can be purchased in bundles together in ASE. Games have to make money somehow and I believe that was fair. They should have continued to make maps that way, Fjord should have been a paid map. Now it’s just overdone and ruined everything because at least before you could buy those Dino’s from the guy killing you

@@Donnydubz I didn't own Genesis and couldn't tame one on there until after I bought it? Fjordur is my favorite map but I had to have other dlc to be allowed to even use these creatures
This is true, however it doesnt mean we should just accept it now, its a new game and we should speak up to try and push it away from pay to win

As a console (series x) player, I got what I paid for and am happy with it. I wanted an Ark that was functional, has mod access, and looks good for singleplayer, and that's exactly what I got. While I am unhappy with the center changes, I never really liked it to begin with. I always found it to be just a reskinned island with worse caves. Visual changes alone do not change the core gameplay of a map, and it shows in both ASE and ASA. I could not care any less about the pyromane or shasta. My singleplayer consistently saves, I get decent frames, and I haven't crashed a single time since March. That's all I care about.

Incredible video man i love it. I have a very decent PC that ran ASE at 60 frames on high, i barely get over 20fps on the lowest possible setting on scorched earth. Absolutely ridiculous

I’m a completely new to this ark world and I’m debating about which one to really get into . Like i Havnt progressed in ase past lvl 60 or so. I been watching videos trying to learn the differences etc. I do think with the graphics issue. That’s going to solve itself long term. I think ark 2 isn’t going to be the same
honestly there are a lot of positives and negatives to both, but for the most part it depends what pc specs/console you have and whether you care about getting content updates, i mean ASE has a lot of content but ASA is getting new stuff, if you do go for ascended though, please do not buy the pyromane, its a cool creature but buying it promotes pay to win more than anything else in the game
1. The cryo nerf was dumb for pve servers.
2. The giga raptor is absolutely useless with taming wild Dino’s. You have to max level one to get any bonuses.
3. More players are on unofficial because they don’t want the grind anymore. Why should we keep pushing to make the game harder?
1. i like it. No pokemons anymore.^^ Also there is much less need of cryos in the world than before. They changed caves etc also because of this.
2. Even without a max level gigantoraptor its useful.
3. More players are on unofficial because of various reasons. For the most its not the grind. Most people are just lazy. I see it myself on official every day.
"Anyone have dinos for starter?" ... "Anyone have care package for a beginner?"... and so on... people are lazy. High rates and absurd game changes that makes the game a joke is one of the main reasons why they play unofficial.

- Since ASA we had several events with higher rates. nearly every weekend. Also whole weeks.
Playing unofficial is just boring. The amount of mods people install to make it even MORE easier than it already is makes the game a joke.
We had people joined the official network and we had to explain nearly the whole game again because of all this mods that distort the gameplay.
2:30 and some people say it’s an improvement searching for a setting for 5 minutes is not an improvement

For me the building in ascended is so much violently better and more fun
I think ASAs only problems are the performance on Pc and some Bugs (but to be honest, every game has them) i only encountered the bug where my creatures die when i leave them in caves. I know this now so i can work around it.
The other thing (and i would say the big thing) is for pvp.
For pve its most of the time a really great game.

I think for evolved a lot of bugs could be looked past as it was such an old game, releasing in 2015, but now its on UE5 it becomes less excusable, though it is very fun for pve most the time (excluding water)
@rakethemseals that's weird logic you think if a game was older it would be less buggy
@@kotzer71 I disagree, standards should improve over time and with the hardware and software, should become more easily solved, they were a lot smaller back when they first started development, now that they (should) have all the money invested, they should have more people and experience to tackle bugs, ue5 is a lot better than ue4 and whilst there 100% is bugs in every game, if the devs are given the time to remove them, it is easier than it was
@rakethemseals well ark is a special case most games get patched to pretty much bug free after a couple of months
the biggest problem ark has is its spagetti code they fix something and break another and thats not going to change till they redo the code from the ground up
That and instead of fixing up the game they spend there resources on dumb stuff like club ark
And also new technologies new problems

yes but the island is still one of the worst maps for it, and i was saying they couldve/shouldve increased the efficiency of one of their farming of poly
I have a 4090 with 64 gigs of ram and the latest processor from intel… game still runs poorly.
In fact I get a little dizzy playing it due to frame rates. And I have the highest tier PC able to play the game so, I can’t imagine playing on anything low or even medium grade…
I agree with your whole video. But I hate the pay to win Dino’s the most.
someone else with basically the same pc specs as you said the exact same, and I completely agree with the pay to win dino part, I dont think they can undo what they have done (reason being that snail want money) but i do hope going forwards they focus on cosmetic purchases

I don’t agree with saying the tames are "pay to win." Coming from a person that has 6k hours on official small tribes PvP, I would much rather have access to every map and maybe not be able to use one tame than not having the ability to go on the map at all. This is especially true when DLC like the Pyromane is only $5, unlike maps in ASE that were $15 to $20. I don’t get why everyone is complaining about it so much; it makes no sense.
What is pay to win is when someone can go onto a whole map like Extinction or Genesis and get things like Element as if they were picking up rocks off the beach and also have the ability to transfer it. You could get a whole Federation suit for free and go onto maps like Aberration, which is also a paid map, swim in the Element lake, and be able to use it as a free Tek suit and fly all over Aberration with unlimited Element. But you couldn’t equip it unless you owned Genesis. This concept isn’t new.
And for the people saying, "well at least you could use the tames you got from the person you killed," one of the most useful things in this game is having the ability to have Tek. But in ASE, the only way to get Element onto a server that you weren’t built on was by farming tributes to do a boss or, the much easier way, using Element Dust to craft unstable Element, but that’s only if you had Extinction. So, I think this is a big improvement from not being able to play a map at all.
I think this is a weird take, mainly because your argument is "its better than the dlc for ASE", just because it is better does not mean it is good, ase's dlc was awful.
ASA is a chance to do it better, especially now that they have shown they can do cosmetics
ASE atleast ended up with maps where you could get those creatures
also swear that u cant use fed suit on other maps unless you already have tek grams (i cannot on my current ASE playthrough)
for now it is only $5, but buying into it lets the devs know we will do it, and they will make it more and more op, and could even make it more expensive, plus not everyone can spend 5 for every DLC that releases
the main problem is that this was unclear when we invested into the game, as we were promised all dlcs free, where this is quite disingenuous as sure you get most the dlc free, but you cant get all the content
As for your last point, that isnt a great comparison as you cannot get the pyromane any other way, where you can get tek (though much harder)
With how op the pyromane is shown to be, it is 100% pay to win, and ase had plenty of it sure but that doesnt mean we should not talk about it
I still think cosmetics are a lot better than pay to win stuff
The cryopod nerf on pve made me want to die but it’s not too much of an issue for me because I can just use pelayori storage mod

Pvp players need to stop speaking for pve players. I love pyromane but fully believe it should be completely removed from pvp servers altogether
I dont think that is 100% realistic, though that would be the best option, the point of selling it is because pvpers will need it to compete (same with oasisaur)
personally i think the best we can hope for is something like i suggested, where we can all use it but only those who purchase can tame them

Also its insane that the map looks like complete dogshit on low settings, why is it so hard to render a map.
I'm running ASA with a mid tier PC and the graphics look beautiful compared to ASE. In every single case I've seen, people complaining about the graphics have no idea what hardware they need to play a modern game, and think their GTX970 they bought with ASE would somehow work just fine nearly a decade later.
Pyromane and Oasisaur P2W bullshit is bullshit tho for sure
its nicer than ase but ive seen people using 4090s annoyed at the performance, and the average pc (steam hardware reports) struggle with ark ascended, which seeing as that is the target for most game devs, the fact it struggles says a lot, the 3060 doesnt perform amazingly and its one of the most common card
@@rakethemseals I have a 3060 and 11th gen processor and I can run the game fine on high settings with some of them on ultra, like render distance. I dont turn off anything besides fog and thats only because I am dirty cheating scum and want to see underwater :D
I'm almost certain people are just lying about their rig, or they've upgraded the GFX card but not the CPU and RAM. Game ran shit for me til I increased my RAM to 16GB

as far as ive seen, very few people are happy with the performance, you seem to be one of few happy with the performance (no hate but just saying how most people feel, and with the supposed engine upgrades it might get even better for you)

The game from a PVE stad point is good. The bugs are better, until an update is done that makes coop break for a day. The adding of stupid features like Power Rangers is not special.
eh i disagree with the power rangers complaint, its a bit of a weird crossover but purchasable cosmetics are 100% the way to go, id much rather see a power ranger than another pyromane creature

32gb DDR5 6000mhz, 4090. 13700k, m.2, game stutters to no end regardless of graphic settings. It was the same with my old build that had a 4070ti. On average I crash more often than tribe members with series x and ps5. If ARK hadn't sold out to Snail this game could be in a totally different realm. Snail takes that $$$ that could go to improvements to the game and uses them on EV companies etc. Shameful.
unfortunately if they hadnt sold to snail we wouldnt have the game past scorched earth, but i 100% agree that with another publisher this game couldve been even better
damn, i assume ur trying to play 4k? if so make sure u are upscaling and using frame gen and all that new stuff, cuz ive been told thats almost required on all epic 4k

it might be good but it could be a lot better, and you are a minority in that opinion, most people are annoyed with the performance
@@rakethemseals definitely not letting them off the hook, I get it, I really do. I’ve been an early day ark guy, back when it was early access for Xbox. I share many frustrations as ark two is seemingly no where close and that ascended turned out to be an entire other game we had to buy instead of just an update. I’m on board with all of those criticisms, that being said, the game looks and plays completely different from those early days. Not having to worry about the game crashing literally every 30ish min to 1hr, taking nearly the same time to try and get into a server. Not to mention the addition of mods which really bridge the gap for replayability and what not.
Not letting them off the hook but the game was a blast then and is definitely better now, hopefully they continue to improve and utilize the money they have accrued from asa to build a badass ark 2.
ASA is worse in every respect to its predecessor. Graphics, server options, bugs, performance, features. The fact that wildcard shoots themsleves in the foot with every decision is hilarious, and, though i previously loved playing ase beginner servers, i know this game will never improve, i just want snail to go bankrupt.
I disagree with the graphics part, ASA does look better than ASE though ASE performs so much better that for a lot of people it could look better
I think the features is just a matter of waiting for the DLC maps, though it is annoying not having everything from ASE

@@rakethemseals by features I was referring to the new menu, new ui, new music, changes to pipes/elec, suicide feature which trivialises caging/handcuffing and worst of all the mods

@@user-kw6rn7yr5c I know some people who like and dislike the pipe/electrical side and i can see it from both sides, bute verything else i do agree with (though the suicide is nice for when u get stuck in random holes in the map, but do handcuffs not stop it?)
