AS ONE OF YOUR LOYAL 1.3 MILLION VIEWERS AROUND THE WORLD, A BIG THANKS TO YOU BOB AYLOTT FOR PUTTING OUT THE COOLEST SAILING VIDEOS AROUND. CHEERS TO YOU FROM BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, USA!
Now thats a real beauty, those lines, are not often seen better. Seems like its a handfull, very lively and fun, responsive ....Ahh, love to see people who do things properly all the way, and with taste. No nonsense, no pretentiousness, just straight forward joy of whats great in life. Cheers.
This is awesome, some great design cues. I really enjoyed watching Kevin single handing his dinghy. Did disagree on one point, a boat and the enjoyment she brings is worth every penny we put into them.
So I am sitting with my buddy Paul Denk, and he is telling me all sorts of cool stories about this boat. Not a boat like this boat, but this exact boat (in the video). Paul owned this boat when it was called Fide. He bought it in the Isle of Wight around 1979 to ‘80. He then salied to the Jersey Islands, just off the coast of France. From there he sailed up the coast of France to the Gironde River and stayed for nearly a year. He worked on bots to make Money. He says there was gnarly sailing around there. “Difficult sailing”From there he traveled across the Bay of Biscay to Balboa, Spain. Stayed a little while and again worked on boats. He didn’t make much money but a person could eat for a couple of bucks a day. He then went up the coast to Portugal. He stayed there for a year as well. In Portugal he had a little money and worked on boats in the Port of Beliem. He then took a left turn at the tip of Europe, and stayed in the Algarve for about six months. Did little chartering with the boat sunset cruises. He had a beautiful Portuguese girlfriend. He knew he wasn’t going to be there long so he kept his distance.
Well small world indeed. As an impressionable teen, Paul D took me under his wing, I did my first Round -the -island -Race in Fide as was.. thought I recognised the boat in the early parts of the video..😊 Beautiful quick boat , evening day sails out of Yarmouth , after the RTI finish we didn’t bother to go into Cowes, we had a beautiful sail right back into Yarmouth ( Stuart Turner 4hp no-go petrol engine),, it was my 21 birthday so just happened to have a bottle of fizz , popped the cork as we sailed in, AND we made it to the pub before 11pm! Happy days . Or as Paul Denks used to say ‘’Salty Dog, you !” Joyful boat to steer , delighted she is cherished still..
@@timallen6025 Hello Tim just sawyer reply I hope you find this, I've got a gaff ketch and every now and then think of Planta Genesta those were good and simple times Kings Head pub food and old Holburn Im still looking for a pair of Yarmoth red trousers, again hope you find this message and give me a shout .
A lovely boat, a lovely man, and yet another lovely video! I so do appreciate his willingness to be frank about the financial aspect of the stewardship of MISCHIEF.
I sailed on a couple of W Solents when I was a lad, up in Abersoch, N Wales. Gybing that long boom in a blow was an exercise in timing to get the runners in.
Nice document of west solent with Kevin and mischief racing around east coast waters. Happy video in the sun and wind. Just ideal . Shame about the deminished class racing.
Oh my mate. I don’t sail personally, but what a lovely short film. I live vigorously through you. I love the sea, I can’t stand to be away from water, the sea & rivers etc but mainly the sea, an 18 month stint a few hundred Kilometres north east of Alice Springs in the mid eighties mostly in dry & unbearable heat made living near water almost an obsession for me for the rest of my life. Brought up near Portsmouth I just loved the the thought of going to sea & joining the RN like my dad ( Artificer, RN 1933 to 1965 ) Why didn’t I follow my dream... ? Travel sickness & in particular sea sickness of the most awful & prolonged kind, something to do with my sense of balance & inner ear etc. My dear old dad never got sea sick, ever & he was in mine sweepers in the North Sea for nearly 10 years after the war. But I do love scouring RUclips for gems like this. Brilliant stuff.
There was one of these kept (for many years) at Mylor Yacht Harbour in Cornwall. Her name was West Wings (at least I think I have got this right). Very beautiful boats.
Hi Kevin, I have fond memories of a wonderful, unforgettable sail with you on Mischief years ago and was delighted to see my old neighbour still so happy on that beautiful boat! Keep it up--Matthew
My father B.N.Brickell owned a West Solent “Nabla” in the early or mid seventies. She was moored at Castle Cove in Portland Harbour. I was in my late teens and had some wonderful channel cruising with him. Sadly she broke her mooring and went onto the harbour wall. A sad end for a wonderful boat..
I sure would like to sail it. Kinda like a cat boat. It just stays quarter wakeing but the toe rails stay mostly dry.Justazipping around the bay.And no noise.15-20kt wind?,moderate inland chop? Sounds fun to me.Get some coffee .
What great lines she has. Bob, would you be mind if I profiled some sailboats in Nova Scotia, both wooden and fibreglass, loosely using your format of a chat with the owner, interspersed with some sailing footage?
Absolutely beautiful and looks fast as hell! However I do see that these boats are very unpractical as well as hard to manoeuvre in marinas with that huge boom and without a motor. Still looks classy!
BEEN STRUCK WITH pc ISSUES.. APPLE SO EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR,IVE BEEN OFF LINE .. SURE MISS BEING IN CONTACT.. NICE FILM HERE DUDE ! BEST OF EVERYTHING 2u

He has this grin when she’s all hung out there like he had the very fastest skateboard on the planet. It’s really something to see that joy.
Beautiful design classic sailboat ⛵️ thanks for sharing Greetings from beautiful Hawaii islands ⛵️ 🏝
Thanks Kevin. You’re an inspiration…Love to have one of these to ply San Diego bay….
A lively lady if I ever saw one!
Kevin really looks like he knows what he’s doing, singlehanded! 👍 And what a beautiful boat.
A yacht that approaches light speed... Glorious!
The smile on this guys face while hes underway says it all
That beautiful hull shape...my goodness. The Solent is brilliant but that whole Thames estuary thing is v special.
I say ole boy, what a fine craft she is.
Absolutely beautiful, stunning. Take care of that one old boy.
Damn! She’s a beauty!!

She's a beauty! ❤️
Old boat values are incalculable. Somethings are worth more than money. Carry on Mr Fuller
A beautiful sailboat! What a joy to watch her sailing. ♡
Enjoyed that. Thank you.

That is a really fast boat judging by the bow wave and wake. Thanks for sharing Kevin.
You can tell how happy he is by the smile on his face!! What a Piece of Nautical History. Reminds me of my 1930's Vintage Pond Yatch, "Venture".!!🌊🌊🌊
The speed is amazing ! It looks like it's faster than most of modern sailboats ...
Love your boat Kevin!
Приятно видеть такой энтузиазм, видно человек любит свое хобби, такой азарт в глазах. Да и лодка тоже замечательная.
A very joyful inspiring experience!
Fantastic. Love this video
1:10 Gotta love the auto-pilot/self-steering feature there. Man that boat is just beautiful.
I know right? And so simple. That's a two hour job to do for your own boat.
Nice sailboat ⛵
This beautiful boat reminds me so much or a J class because of her amazing lines
Thank You Bob Aylott.
Really fast..just awesome..
This boat can move !
Beautiful
This is awesome, some great design cues. I really enjoyed watching Kevin single handing his dinghy. Did disagree on one point, a boat and the enjoyment she brings is worth every penny we put into them.
That thing rips!!!
What a beauty. And looks very fast! Little to no freeboaed make for quite the sailing experience!!
Wow That thing Flies
Dang she’s hauling a$$
What a beauty and how well done this video is. Thank you.
therapeutic sailor vibes . watching this was as pleasantly soporiphic as leisurely watching the bow wave roll along the lee rail on a long passage..
yet another wonderfully produced profile of a classic boat and her owner.
I think the owner is a bit of a classic too. Not many around with that kind of dedication to a class.
he sails that thing like its a jet ski lol
Beautiful boat, nice video! Thanks for sharing!
stunning beauty! and what a fab skipper Kevin is. great video production also, thanks Bob
I used to see Mischief out often when I lived at Maldon Kevin would sail up to Fullbridge. Thanks for the video

Beautiful boat, you have done a great job on it,well done.
Beautiful boat in lovely condition. When craftsmanship really counted.
Ooh yeah,she's a beauty alright 👍
The boat gives him a lot of happy times
Is it weird that at 15 I absolutely LOVE this channel???
Yeah, but have no fear. We're all a bit weird, just some hide it better than others. ;)
Good keep watching -loads more to come
Same situation here, apart from the fact I also share an interest in “garden railways”!
No. You just have unusually good taste for your age and a good eye for pretty sailboats which most of them were back in the day.
No. You're discovering passions. You will have several in life. Good for you!

Thanks for the rescue!
Sail on man. Sail on man

Cool history lesson on this class of sailboat. Thanks Kevin. It must be an adrenaline rush.
Marvelous!
i think i have seen this boat sailing when i was out near maldon, looks really good!
What a beautiful boat... :)
There are many pretty boats, but "beautiful" is definitely appropriate for this design. And look how she sails!
The boat IS beautiful and the skipper is fine sailor and a fine man!
Thanks
Perfection
❤❤❤
Well done Bob a very enjoyable video. lovely filming, and in rare ideal conditions. Kevin is like a part of that boat....
This guy. Blasting by piers 1:16 and boats 8:13, ripping and heeling like a boss. Me want gentleman's racing yacht.
1:22 yeh.
Kevin will forever be known as the ´Mad Sailor´ - that´s pollo loco for all you land lubbers!
i think that means mad chicken
Cheer up! The Dragon Class has come back from the dead. I think the Solent might have a chance.
There was one of these kept (for many years) at Mylor Yacht Harbour in Cornwall. Her name was West Wings (at least I think I have got this right). Very beautiful boats.
Why did you buy it?! Because it is freaking awesome and beautiful and fast that is why!!! Great sailboat sir!!
Kevin sure has fun, and tha's the main reason for having such a beauty!
Well done Bob, a very nice well edited video, thanks! Kevin

It is nice to see an old man with his toys. He looks just like a child. I myself, love my guns. 😎
Absolutely beautiful and looks fast as hell! However I do see that these boats are very unpractical as well as hard to manoeuvre in marinas with that huge boom and without a motor. Still looks classy!

Love the intro.
Where can I find plans for this beauty??
