There is a lot of Bias, is just that it goes with the propaganda you have, or is more subtle. Then, when talking about the Wagner captured Ukrainian soldier, his first question was about torture are more. The idea there is obvious

26:00 I felt like when he asked the laywer who he felt would kill him, that the unspoken truth was that he was literally asking the lawyer "After you just embarrassed us in front of the western media, who would you suggest I send to your home tonight to come and kill you?" And the way the other africans in the room stared him down as if to say "Not now, we agree but you're going to get us shot." The way the mercenary glances at the camera, trying to find a way to communicate the severity of his anger in a coded way. Perhaps I'm overthinking it, but there appears to be layers to this interaction.
That's how I read the situation too. I wonder if the local interpreter was trying to explain to Vitali that he's a lawyer as a way to dismiss him as someone they need to worry about since the legal system of the CAR is practically non-existent. I felt like it all depended on what VICE would publish, so now I fear he is in danger (if he hasn't already been threatened or disappeared)
An important reminder that real journalism is one of the most important professions on the planet...Vice is one of the only story-tellers out there willing to get inside the story, itself, for it's own sake.
38:40 Hilarious. Feel bad for this sales rep, for not having taken a course in "lawyer talk" from his Alma Mater. Then his boss came along and ruined it all like a Japanese boss. "Why can't you answer vaguely?"
Title says "Inside Wagner..." but we never get to see that. But we get to hear (not see) some voices talking about how Wagner did this and that. Impeccable journalism.
What are you talking about? They literally embedded for a time with the "Russian Instructors" (Wagner) in CAR. You can see they were speaking with head of operations there and the deception/misdirection they were using to hide the crimes they had allegedly committed. Obviously there was anonymity with some of the people speaking out as they rightfully feared for their wellbeing had their claims been attributed to their names. Regardless, you also saw the lawyer who spoke out directly to the leader's face, and he was quick to take back his words after some further questioning.
@@jamiemonroe4144 Still it's outside Wagner. Journalist only gets to talk to the representative guy, not the actual fighters and conditions they live in. I’m glad to see that a lot of this focused on CAR and their clients in Africa. The stories from Ukraine and the mutiny/Prigozhin’s death aren’t news to most people, but CAR is already a place your average westerner knows little about. thank you for all you do. Live long and keep fighting. Brilliant piece and wonderful journalism. Keep the facts straight and the knowledge honest. Stay safe out there
Wagner is not a mercenary group, which implies they work for any nationality of the highest bid, rather it is the Russian equivalent of the French Foreign Legion. In fact, many of its members are Russians who left the French Foreign Legion to fight in their country's own equivalent once it existed.
I agree with what you are saying about them not being a traditional PMC group. They are basically a shadow group that Putin could use to progress and protect Russian interests. By calling themselves PMC’s, if they mess up Russia is not held accountable because they are not part of the Russian military. They do 100% of Putin’s bidding. They are basically another arm of the Russian government that can project plausible deniability. But I must disagree that they are somehow similar to the French Foreign Legion. The Legion is under direct command of the French military. Their existence is acknowledged. Their missions are insanely dangerous but at the end of the day they are a soldier in the French military. Wagner is not considered to be part of the Russian military.
One big mistake at 35:00: "trying to overthrow Putin" No, Prigozhin wanted to replace the head of the ministry of defence, he had no gripes with Putin himself.
@@chrischrin Putin isn't connected to military as much as minister of the MOD Shoigu or general staff of the MOD Gerasimov. @@bobert6259 Right? No clue what this guy's talking about
@@bobert6259That’s his point. That hard hitting long-form documentaries are Vice’s bread and butter and are more profitable. It was the more comedic stuff like one-star reviews that they have scaled back on in favor of this kind of content as they’ve gone through bankruptcy.
CNN is profitable, Fox News is profitable, nyt has to cut staff, vox relies on donations, and Bloomberg and wsj rely on investors who rely on their services. Reporting on RUclips alone is…

The Black Sun nazi symbol
@@MrCRASHERXDNo, it is a sacred solar symbol that is very capacious in its meaning. It is an Old Slavic sign that signifies the process of destroying everything hostile, old and false, and the power and will to renew and reborn. This is a traditional symbol of Ukrainians and some other ethnic groups, which for a long time was the exclusive attribute of priests. And only later it was massively used as a pagan sign to help people survive hard times. That is why in Ukraine it is used as a talisman, not as a Nazi symbol, especially since there are almost no problems with Nazism in Ukraine and they are much less than in many other countries

Hat's off to y'all for this piece. Gotta do more in depth stuff like the old school days more. Plus, y'all shined light on alot of vital information imo! 👍
Nothing new here. Independent news channels have been covering all of this months and years ago. Zero criticism of US empire in this piece. Zero information about US regime change, resource theft, arms deals, murder. Wagner is exactly the same as Black Water and the CIA.
Africa is open arms to China and Russia because they have been screwed over by the United States of America and the west. The world is changing and leaving us behind. VICE is mainstream bought out media.

This is what the old vice used to be, we need more content like this
Just look at this way man. The new vice, as you probably have in your head, exists because of a simple fact: no one really pays for journalism anymore. If say, everyone that enjoyed Vice payed $10-20 a month, they could focus on just this material. But because no wants to pay, they have to make tons of clickbaity content that someone like you probably call woke. The clicks then let Vice charge advertisers the money they need to produce pieces like this. They still out stuff like this, never stopped. Just keep in mind that your unwillingness to pay along with most other ppl is why Vice needs to make way more trash than treasure in order to still try to stay afloat.
@@globaladdictthe bigger issues are mismanagement and Disney forcing its woke agenda on them after the buyout

Wow, that was almost medieval, having local leaders come and praise them, and the one dissenter being immediately challenged.
Takes like this are so stupid
Great work. We need more of this type of fact seeking journalism. Asking the right questions, allowing the story to unfold without bias. Really enjoyed this particular subject and would love to see more from Vice in the future.
So basically you wanna see ww3?
There is a lot of Bias, is just that it goes with the propaganda you have, or is more subtle. For example, when they talk about the Ukrainian captured Wagner prisioner, she doesn't ask how Ukraine is treating him, but talked about how he "defected". Then, when talking about the Wagner captured Ukrainian soldier, his first question was about torture are more. The idea there is obvious

Holy crap,… did Vice go back to their roots??? Amazing, just amazing.
26:00 I felt like when he asked the laywer who he felt would kill him, that the unspoken truth was that he was literally asking the lawyer "After you just embarrassed us in front of the western media, who would you suggest I send to your home tonight to come and kill you?" And the way the other africans in the room stared him down as if to say "Not now, we agree but you're going to get us shot."
The way the mercenary glances at the camera, trying to find a way to communicate the severity of his anger in a coded way.
You could feel the tension through the camera
He's dead for sure

38:40 Hilarious. Feel bad for this sales rep, for not having taken a course in "lawyer talk" from his Alma Mater. I loved all of his awkward responses, since he seemed to have a "knowing" tone in his voice, like everything that was coming out of his mouth was 110% military industrial complex bullshit, and he's somehow a middle man to all this stupid crap. Then his boss came along and ruined it all like a Japanese boss. "Why can't you answer vaguely?"

This is the best piece from Vice I've seen in years. Bravo!

Wagner is not a mercenary group, which implies they work for any nationality of the highest bid, rather it is the Russian equivalent of the French Foreign Legion. In fact, many of its members are Russians who left the French Foreign Legion to fight in their country's own equivalent once it existed.
Wut? Where did you get that from?
Where's your source

No, Prigozhin wanted to replace the head of the ministry of defence, he had no gripes with Putin himself.
It still amazes me how people still don’t see that point lol
How do you explain his death if it wasn’t a mutiny against Putin?
@@chrischrin Putin isn't connected to military as much as minister of the MOD Shoigu or general staff of the MOD Gerasimov. There are speculations about who may had done it and there are several theories about levels of relations of these 3 aforementioned people. Judging from any side it is not known WHO actually was to benefit from Prigozhin's death the most, so it's wrong to assume straightly that it was in interests of Putin to commit assasination on his one of the most useful and valuable assets
