Ive been following this series as it came out as no major western media covered it properly my heart breaks seeing it again so many lives wasted for nothing...
@@cannedstarfish6194 Exactly. What those western countries are doing, pumping more weapons into Ukraine, is the opposite of what would help bring negotiations back and peace closer. Unless NATO actually gets involved, the Donbass is independent from Ukraine so I don't see why they still do it unless to fuel the war like they did in Syria - almost exact same, but instead of jihads they use they use the armed forces of Ukraine, which for the most part are not Nazi. It is true that Russia is the aggressor, but context always matters, *always* Ukraine is simply a pawn in this chess game of west *vs* east.
@@cannedstarfish6194 The problem with that statement is that Ukraine had a government that didn't care about their people's life or rights, that ended up with the revolution in 2014. Then Russia invaded and stole Ukrainian soil. The land that was promised to them when they gave up all their nuclear weapons in the agreement that Russia would never attack their country. The world should 100% continue to send weapons to Ukraine so they can protect their own sovereignty and fight back the dictatorship of Russia and let the Ukrainians get back their own land.
Obviously a bunch of thugs working for Putin, Referendum was rigged obviously😩 feel sorry for the poor Ukrainians who literally had no voice to stop this, they were attacking them in the street! This was the start of Putins invasion of Ukraine.
You know, if someone made a movie exactly like this, i would watch it. Its very interesting having a look to the inner situation, the struggle between the different factions, and the aftermath.

@@thembastoep733 was it the majority of ALL the people who lived there by 2014/15? And what about now in 2024? Is it the will of the majority now? How did the population change - who stayed, who left, who came new? We just hear rumors. Barely any journalists allowed there. So how can one really know what the will of „the people“ is now? Weird however when a county of your country decides to rather be its own country and your country is supposed to accept this just like that. Which country would? Remember what happened in Spain? Ukraine greatly underestimated its losses, and, according to the General Staff, about 3,000 Ukrainian servicemen and 20,000 L/DPR soldiers were killed, and according to the UN - from 4,500 to 5,500 people. I also personally know many people who have been at the front for 10 years.
"Are you afraid of something?" How about the masked guards and the government employee who just threatened bodily injury over stickers? Is that the sort of thing someone should be worried about?
***** I don't care what someone is suspected of doing. If you want to pretend you live in a free society, they are innocent until proven guilty. Also, in most free societies, having and promoting a political view that is opposed by the current government is not considered a crime. Don't get me wrong, the US (where I live) fails at this in a lot of ways, but that video was the sort of thing that cops here would at least try to hide, not use it as an example of properly conducted law-enforcement. Actually, that's not entirely true. You should see some of the insane SWAT videos that are used as examples of well-executed raids. And yes, the US meddles in the affairs of other countries way too much, but that doesn't justify treating some kid like a violent criminal because he happens to agree with a group you don't like.
@@download333 Since you are American, btw I am not Ukrainian nor Russian and I am not affected by this, do you think there is any difference between Russian and American interference, be it by army deployment, overthrowing governments, funding some political parties, etc. I mean, Russian influence is presented as bad, and American and EU as good, but for me ruling a country from the outside is bad no matter who is pulling the strings, so i would like to hear what an American thinks.
BrainBytes It's a reaction people have when being violently targeted for being loyal to their previous government that was also violently ousted by thugs. And technically, the land was Russian but was given in exchange for several things. But the Ukraine has squelched on their deal so I'd say they're taking it easy on the Ukraine when contractually the land should go back to Russia since the contract is no longer being honored or recognized. Don't you think? Either way, it's between them and no other country should get involved financially or militarily.
I express solidarity to the the DPR, but in the end, they are being used by Putin right now. The communists that made up the republic are losing power in the face of Russia's neoliberalism. The days of the USSR are (sadly) gone. That said, I recognize Crimea as free from Ukraine, and if the the rest of eastern ukraine wishes, they should be allowed as well. I'm only concerned this is going to devolve into what my post said: two ethno nationalist sides foghting it out, one side supported by western powers, and the other by Putin.
BrainBytes Hmmm. Well I'm not sad the USSR is not in existence, nor are any of my in-laws currently living in Kiev and Russia. And I'm not sure what you mean by being used by Putin. Would it be bad geopolitically for Putin if the EU grabbed Ukraine? Of course. But it would be equally bad for the people in Ukraine. And culturally speaking it would be the death of any nuclear family values. I guess I'm not seeing how they're being used or exploited when it's mutually beneficial.
But did you not just say that other countries should stay out of this both militarily and financially? Regarding the USSR, it was the other superpower preventing the US from becoming the sole superpower. It prevented what the US wants right now, military and financial hegemony of american interests around the world. While the USSR has a terrible past regarding human rights violations, I am in the camp it could have been saved, albeit some restructuring (perhaps more of a confederacy). We're seeing this in NATO's expansion eastward past germany, which Bush H.W and NATO promised Gorbachev wouldn't happen in exchange for a united germany. With the collapse of the USSR, that deal disappeared. The Ukrainian conflict largely stems from NATOs expansion into Georgia and Ukraine, and the pressure it is putting on Russia through this. In regards to the exploitation by Putin? Like I said, I admire the DPR for standing up against Ukraine's semi-fascist government. But, many of these separatists are former soviet citizens or communists who want to return to the system they had before. Now that the DPR is more tied with Russia, that wing of revolutionaries and leftists no longer have influence, and instead are part of Putin's plans of political posturing and economic neoliberalism. That's mainly why I don't see it as mutually beneficial, but instead as a lopsided deal for the DPR.
BrainBytes Well the end goal IS to become one with Russia. They simply had to break free first from the Ukraine. Regarding America, it's the NWO (and yes NATO is a big part of that) that Bush was so fond of, rearing its ugly head only now the status quo calls it globalism. The EU was the giant first leap for globalism. The democrats and a good chunk of republicans are huge supporters of this. There is a lot of money to be made in globalism for a circle at the top, the next tier does it in the name of utopia, perfect world, no boundaries, no race, no gender, no class etc. So they work the propaganda and push it through the system in the name of equality and love. Keep both parents working and children raised by the system because it's about 'gender equality'. The rest at the bottom suffer greatly with no voice. This is what ruffles Putin's feathers. Putin is doing his best to model his country, as is China, after the Nationalist and sovereign America circa 1940. But globalism is a poison that seeps into the youth and this strikes fear in nationalist sovereign nations. They see the coming threat. This is why the recent reactions to and policies on homosexuality and pornography have come up in Russia. Russia and China have both stated recently that the US was great once but has completely fallen. There is very little respect left. It's really funny when you think about it. Trade the word communism for globalism and it's like the US is becoming what Russia was depicted as, and Russia is in the shoes the US was wearing long ago. We now hold the poison dismantling values and governments with corruption. I did mean what I said about staying out of it. But this does involve Russia at its core. I'm just an average Joe talking, I'm not Secretary of State. America should stay out of this. But our opinions don't even matter so who the fuck are we anyway.

Some context for those who don't understand the language or the situation. This ideologist 3:09 and this masked man 1:15 are both native Russians. They have pure Russian accent without any Eastern Ukrainian influence, unlike everyone else in this video. Even if according to published data the majority of people in Donbass in 2014 wrere either eager Russian supporters or just simply sympathetic towards Russia, this video still doesn't represent the real ratio between regular Ukrainians and separatists, because most of Ukrainians were scared of this 7:25 or 10:24 or 13:49 or worse if they made their stance publicly. The reason why pro-russian population was more active and better organized is because the operation was planned by FSB way ahead of these events. Posters, speakers, slogans, money and weapons were availbale to separatists immediately, while Donbass Ukrainians just weren't ready and didn't have someone who'd organize them in support of United Ukraine. Whatever your political views and ethnic sympaties are remember: a minority of people desiring to live as a part of another country is not a reason to infringe sovereignity. Otherwise 99% of the world's borders would have to be rewritten and hundreds of millions would perish. Many Tatars, Kalmyks, Chechens, Dagestanis, Ingush, Karelians, Kuril Islanders, Buryats and Yakuts in Russia also want independence or reunification with historical motherlands, is it a valid reason to secede?

Jesus... 2014, the year terror begun for the Donetsk and Luhansk. The amount of men and women, elderly and young, rich and poor, pro-ukrainian and pro-russian that was tortured and/or killed by the so-called 'separatists' is enormous. It`s really rare to meet a pro-ukrainian person over there who is willing to disclose her real opinion. Many people are afraid of speaking out against the russian-controlled terrorist groups, thinking they`d lose their lives and of their relatives (and they wouldn`t be wrong for assuming this). Look up Volodymyr Rybak from Horlivka and his death. Even Strelkov-Girkin confessed: "Naturally, Rybak, as a person who actively opposed the "militias", was an enemy in my eyes... his death is to some extent also under my responsibility". He was abducted, tortured to death and his body thrown away into Torets river. For what? For attempt of raising Ukrainian flag. Not the crime one should be put to such gruesome death for. Or Stepan Chubenko - a 16-y.o. football player, kidnapped from a train to Donetsk from Kyiv by terrorist "DPR" militias and executed after torture. His crime? Blue-and-yellow ribbon on the backpack. His killers fled to russia back in the 2017 and russia denied extradition requests. Especially now, as we see how treatment of occupied territories by Russian State is the same if not worse than by the separatists on this video. I'm native russian speaker. The translation is sometimes inaccurate. For example when Roma is talking to one of his men at 4:38 the translation is as if Roma is informed that they captured an enemy fighter and got a ransom for him, being unclear what is left to be settled here and why he's asking his dude to show him some gun. In reality the dude is telling Roma they somehow wrongly acquired a free gun but now are asked to pay for it yet the finance people are saying this can be only settled through Roma, with the gun being later shown.

Actually 'the little green men' were in Crimea. And they had the right to be there 'cause of treaty between Ukraine and Russia that was about naval bases. There in Donetsk locals made everything by themselves hoping Russsia will send them troops. But that would be illegal. So there is no russian army in Donetsk. Only volunteers from Russia, France, Afganistan and some other countries. Why everyone blames Putin for the shit made by Obama in Ukraine? That's Obama who said americans are exceptional nation and only USA has the right to decide what is right and what is wrong in the world. Look there guys! There's your agressor who sent Blackwater into Ukraine in winter. Of course these guys are private military. But they are taking part in every conflict US started in the world. Speaking of which, would you remind me how many conflicts were started by Russia that are not near russian border-line?
Sergei Shamanski Have you seen the people who showed up at 31:56 ? Because they were Russian soldiers. BTW, the treaty didn't include the seizure of Ukrainian government buildings in Crimea so they were acting criminally as well, just look at VICE videos from that time.
Sergei Shamanski The treaty covers naval bases in Sevastopol, not government buildings and Ukranian military bases in Crimea. Talking about treaties, Russia signed a treaty as well in 1994 Budapest Memorandums - "1.The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine; 2.The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations;" And isn't it kind of strange how all the supposed local officials are all russians? Also - ura.ru/content/chel/01-10-2014/articles/1036263086.html - 90% of the squad are Russians, locals don't want to fight, they fled or are hiding. This is no civil war, never was. Had Russia not intervened, Ukraine could have had a new government already. And if there was some concern in East Ukraine the elected local officials could have negotiated with the central government. I am going to pose this question to you. If an armed group of rebels sprung inside of Russia, claimed a bit of land and called it their sovereign country, A - Do you think Russia would use armed forces to reclaim their land? B - Do you think they would be right to do so? Now me personally, the answer to both is yes.
2022 ladies and gents this is what triggered it .the gravity of the situation back then was really tense and never resolved now it finally exploded ... nothing will be the same for the countries involved ...

Watching this in hindsight (2023) is surreal. So many lessons can be learned from Ukraine’s struggle. Clearly, division was the goal, convincing citizens they had to choose between Russia or the EU, as well as past (Stalin, USSR, Pensioners) or future (6:48). It also goes to show, just because a group of people in society are making the most noise, it doesn’t mean they’re the majority. @@hamsterman32 Ukraine wants NATO and the EU, funny how they wanted Russia until Russia invaded Crimea
So it's ethno-nationalism vs ethno-nationalism? Wonderful.

Many Tatars, Kalmyks, Chechens, Dagestanis, Ingush, Karelians, Kuril Islanders, Buryats and Yakuts in Russia also want independence or reunification with historical motherlands, is it a valid reason to secede?

Bucha, Izyum with their mass graves, torturing rooms in Kherson prison, POW`s execution, deserter`s executions in the russian army... Life in the so-called "People`s Republics" is hell on a level of ISIS-controlled regions of Syria in the 2010`s or life under Boko-Haram in Nigeria.
I got chills while watching this. I felt so bad for those girls. I wonder how many people in this video are still alive?

They use slang so even I didn't get what he's saying at first. In reality the dude is telling Roma they somehow wrongly acquired a free gun but now are asked to pay for it yet the finance people are saying this can be only settled through Roma, with the gun being later shown.

***** Truly revolutionary. What next, deporting Ukranians to North Korean labor camps in some dictator oppression exchange program?
Sergei Shamanski
The treaty covers naval bases in Sevastopol, not government buildings and Ukranian military bases in Crimea. Talking about treaties, Russia signed a treaty as well in 1994 Budapest Memorandums - "1.The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine;
2.The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations;"
And isn't it kind of strange how all the supposed local officials are all russians?

Donetsk had a population of 900k at this time, and the region/oblast was home to 4 million, yet there were never more than 1k people at these “important” events. More than likely, it was because they knew to expect harassment for the differing views, and/or this 7:26 , or worse. Hurling large stones at someone’s back and calling them a fascist because they don’t want to be ruled by a dictator that controls all aspects of society and opposes all opposition is the absolute peak of irony.
