~20 minutes in the story follows a man who is helping people addicted on the streets and going around doing his best to make sure they are ok. He’s probably seen so many horrible things and yet he’s still there trying to help. He really reminds me of what Mr Rogers said: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. Jesus would be walking the streets. Those are his people. The down and out. The people that society has deemed trash. No matter how much tax money we throw at homelessness, it will still be a problem. That’s because before that tax money gets to those who it’s intended for, the majority of it fills the pockets and six figure salaries of those that disguise themselves as “the helpers.” The true helpers are the ones that give the shirt off their backs and give their last dollar away to someone with less.

Right!?.. I’m from the Albany area and this blew my mind too!! But it’s true tho, anywhere you look these days, you can easily find someone like these two sides of people 39:35. The severely addicted and those just trying to help those people. I been a addict more than half my life. Never nearly as bad as what we see here. But that’s only because I’m a functional addict and was always able to work, and because I had a fairly decent support system behind me for the most part too.. Been on subs for just under a decade now, and can honestly say that it’s legit, the only reason why I’m still here today quite frankly.. That much I’m sure of!.. But I see it through both sides. I clearly can see the huge problem behind addiction. But I can also completely understand why people choose to continue to use also. It’s a cold world out there, and most people are just trying to make it through the day one way or another. But the sad part is that we have it good here. Especially in comparison to being a hardcore addict that’s living in say a 3rd world country, where the opportunity to survive comes few and far in between!.. Shits just crazy these days and you almost never know what’s inside the drugs out in the streets. Between the fentanyl and that xylazine crap. People really out here looking like the night of the living dead unfortunately..

I feel incredibly blessed especially seeing what phentenol has done to our youth. The last time I used I OD'd on phentenol. I woke the next day on the floor face down. I saw 3 men die from overdoses of Heroin in shooting galleries in Harlem but back in the 70's it was unusual to see that. I OD'd on Heroin 10x in 17 years. Now it's like playing Russian Roulette.

Legalized opioids like morphine ends near all if not alll fentanyl use/demand. As fentanyl is only used due to its ease with transport and affordable manufacturing process. Fent is not a very euphoric opioid, it isnt very powerful, and its only saving grace is just how potent it is. Potency is why it's easy to transport, and the size also allows you to have a dose that is tiny or on the reverse very large with little physical substance relative to other less potent opioids; which of course helps heavy addicts with massive tollerance levels.
While legalized morphine/opioids can allow educated pharmacists to explain dangers and contradictions before allowing the purchase of the substances in question. And even recommend certain regimens for pain vs. single use kits for occasional recreation, all coming with a mandatory narcan kit if one is not prevented at checkout.

27:40 The guy hits the nail on the head when asked why the Fentanyl trade is not being stopped: because someone is profiting.
A political maxim i learned throughout the years: *If a social, economical or political problem persists for a long time, it doesn't mean nobody knows how to solve it, it means there are powerful people who are benefitting from it and therefor are blocking the solutions.*
Opaque transactions exist for many reasons. Usually tax evasion but also illegal arm deals, corruption, many laundering and other illegal activities. If transaction would be transparant, all these criminals that aren't invested in drug deals can't do their illegal transaction so they block policy for even being written. Bankers and politicians are just as guilty for this awful situation as drug cartels imho.

@@camlee2341 HK has been part of China for a very long time. It was owned by China and leased to UK for 99 years in 1898 until the lease ended in 1997. Funny how the CCP can completely crack down on student and citizen protestors and wealthiest CEO's and media bosses. . but can't touch these gangs committing crime at the highest levels. Instead they enter contracts with them to do their dirty work beating up anyone who dares criticize or investigate the regime. You are disgusting to defend the CCP regime.@@camlee2341

In terms of real estate, yes it's upsetting that Chinese nationals are buying up houses this way. But, US investment firms Blackrock, Vanguard, and State Street are buying up far more. Something like 40-60% of all housing by 2025.

I mean they own something like 88% of the S&P 500.
