Gotta love these sci-fi tutorials done by Ducky, the most fun thing about them is how you can use them together with other Ducky 3D tutorials to create really interesting scenes.i used this with the recent spinning cube tutorial from the channel and the results were very interesting.
this is actually also possible in eevee if you use a volume object with a mesh to volume modifier, and then make a attribute node and plug it into the emission strength (or if you dont wanna use emission, the density has already "density" as an attribute by default). it looks obviously a little different to cycles.
can you elaborate just a little bit on that, or which nodes and how? i almost got there, and got a nice looking rystal ball in eevee, but once i got to the "Emission Strength" step i can't make it look good :(
@@CarlosSaulRodriguezA you have to multiply the attribute node with the texture setup, also you kinda have to increase the density (in the modifier settings) a lot (that makes it slow but its fine if you dont animate the ball(camera animation shouldn't have an effect)). how it looks can also depend on what tile size you have in the volumetrics tab in the eevee render settings
ducky, your videos have literally taught me so much about some of the rendering processes in blender for such a long time. I think I would of been lost so long ago without your videos. thank you for the breakdowns over the years and the videos you upload. with that said, you got any tips of making the plasma dot he thing where it bounces around inside the glass? Im going to do some tests on my end to make it move, but would love your input if you get a moment. if not, all good man, thumbs up as usual. cheers!
You can get a volumetric sphere in evee by plugging a spereical gradtiant texture into the density and clamping it with a color ramp, and then you could use screen space refraction on the sphere
@@TheDucky3D I can tell you that it works really, really well, actually. I was a bit put out that the effect as shown didn't attenuate as it approached the wall of the sphere, but I figured that was something you left for us to figure out on our own. And thank you for doing that, actually. One of the things about your videos that I appreciate.
I've been wanting to find something similar to this, for years, because I wanted to create a logo for myself. I'll have to go through this, and some other techniques, to figure out how to make something good for myself.
If you just stick with a regular shape like a cube or sphere you can make this in Eevee. Simply limit the density via a Gradient > Spherical texture ;-) make it match the edge of your glass surface
amazing effect and tutorial... but I have had some trouble, followed up all the steps, and the volume seems to not constrict inside the sphere or take the textures very well, instead it created like a square around/ outside the sphere. I am using blender 3.3.1 if it matters. Any idea?
is Musgrave texture a addon or has it been changed? i can't find the node at all and going through other texture nodes nothing comes up nearly the same
Really simple and detailed explanation! Your channel is a treasure next to blender secrets. Can you do a tutorial next on how to create procedural aura or particles on a character?
Can Someone help me, the volume and smoky stuff is in a cube around my Ico sphere, not as a texture or something on it. I have copied the tutorial exactly, and I don't know what to do.
Hey man I’ve just started watching your videos because I just got into 3d animation, but I’m curious to what hardware you’re running because your videos are smooth and when I’m animating my computer is struggling lol
i cant seem to be able to reproduce the same clear image and contrast between black and blue colors as you. Mine looks a lot more foggy. Im using Blender 3.2
How can I change the roughness of the surface with a noise texture for example, I can not affect the volume and the roughness of the surface in the same time ??
i followed the steps but when it gets to making the orb reflective by turning the roughness to 0, i get different results. mine is just a dark grey ball with some speckles but not reflective like yours
Every time I plug Principled Volume into Principled BDSF my sphere turns bright pink and I can't see any of the adjustments I'm making. Any help would be appreciated.
Awsome tutorial. Question though, i've been trying to make it glow more. I tried adding an emission node to the outside but it just causes the glass to be translucent and transparent enough to see the details inside. Any suggestions?
Some one plz help when I'm connecting the volume shader to to volume it's creating volume out side the spheres in a cube shape not inside I'm using blender 3.2 vr
how am i so early, ur da best mate
p.s bet you wont pin this

Use linear light instead of mix. This will remove the offset of texture when you mix.
Thank you! I’ll try that out
that sounds simpler than doing it with vector math XD

can you do advanced smoke simulations next? like being able to control where the particles move
Sure!
thank you :D
good idea ^^
@@apersunthathasaridiculousl1890 lmao he's not going to do it
I definitely agree with you, please Ducky 3D
Oh, man, this is the kind of effect I was looking for the other day for one of my models and it's perfect. Thanks!!
I’m glad it helped
Oh mannn perfect just in time as im making something revolving a sort of artifact, thanks!!
I hope it turns out good!

nice. you get an even cooler effect if you squeeze two or more colors between two blacks in the color ramp
Awesome result!
OH LOOK, an awesome RUclips video without the RUclipsr telling me to "smash the like button and subscribe". Fantastic. I'm doing both.

Heck yea dude
I love these tutorials, I made a nice little background, and still have time to make it to work on time! thanks for being the best teacher

very informative as always! cud totally use this to make nebula-like textures
Hey mate I'm having a problem I've tried to check though everything but my object is just staying white. I'm jot sure what the problem is
That looks really dope man! great job too with the lighting and scene
Just beautiful
Finally Duck again with a great stuff! Cool thanks!!
A very cool lesson! A simple and effective result! Thank you 😍👍
is Musgrave texture a addon or has it been changed? i can't find the node at all and going through other texture nodes nothing comes up nearly the same
This will be perfect for materia!
This is perfect in combination with a geometry nodes project I'm working on
Looks fricking sick
Thanks man!
Really nice look and I fancy trying this out plus animating the volume if possible could be an interesting look
Great tut. Be cool to see the smoke element animate.
Where can I get this floor texture? So cool! Love it all! Ty for posting!
Thank you ducky 3d for this tutoriall 😍
Never been this soon to a video. Great work love the videos.

Absurd how good you are lol. THANK YOU
it would be awesome if you made a tutorial on Aura Effect and beam attacks like anime.
Great video, dude! Keep up the excellent work!
this intro music is very relaxing ☺
Thank you!
Amazing!
Such a cool Technique paired with bake sound to Fcurves I love your tuts they are inspirational-
Would be cool to see you animate one of those plasma balls/lamps. The ones where the plasma follows where your hand is touching.
Love your tutorials so helpful.
Perfect tutorial as always!
Thanks!
great job man helps me a lot ! keep going

Nice tutorial!!
Ducky in 4:40 : Guys i did some off camera mining and here is the results.
I love the video it helped alot tysm!
Thank you ; ) very helpful
this tutorial rules, also if you switch your noise textures over to 4d and use a #frame driver you can animate the inside of the ball ;)))
Why material builder addon is removed from blender market?
Thank you for this tutorial I am a new beginner and managed to make it, albeit not as good looking

Nice tuto, any advice to delete the noise on render ?
i cant seem to be able to reproduce the same clear image and contrast between black and blue colors as you. Mine looks a lot more foggy. Im using Blender 3.2
fixed it, i forgot to turn the roughness to 0
Excellent very nice
best and small node tree
what version of blender do you use? love your tutorials BTW!
How would you go about making this same orb, with the same effects but add some text that appear inside the orb? Like a smoky effect?
Please make a tutorial on designing a car
thanks
As always, great video. Thanks. One question, does it render with alpha transparency through the glass orb?
How can I change the roughness of the surface with a noise texture for example, I can not affect the volume and the roughness of the surface in the same time ??
Great 👍bro
please tell the settings for noise texture instead of musgrave texture for this same procedural video
Is it possible to transfer the finished orb effects and animations onto Unity or Unreal???
nice tutorial i did just what you did but the plasma effect is noisy with small particles appears , any idea to solve this
i followed the steps but when it gets to making the orb reflective by turning the roughness to 0, i get different results. mine is just a dark grey ball with some speckles but not reflective like yours

Maybe add some frensel to it to show that it is a ball without needing lights
Can you also make ‘making proto star’ tutorial?
Thank you for tutorial! Why I cant do mapping on sphere? It looks like on cube every time((
is it only still? or can you animate it?
Is there a way to place bloom around it? I tried with emission but the orb turns completely white 😭
Awsome tutorial. Question though, i've been trying to make it glow more. I tried adding an emission node to the outside but it just causes the glass to be translucent and transparent enough to see the details inside. Any suggestions?
hi!rookie on blender! what the idea? can i use this orb to texture some trees for example?
Ooo I bet you could use this to make marbles!!
How would you make the plasma inside the orb look like it was swirling around?
That 200 material pack, we can’t distribute our blend files if we use those materials?
