With the CDV, what you're saying is never try and shift fast because long term it will ruin the synchros? I have the same issues from 1st to 2nd of 2nd to 3rd this being my first car with a CDV. Such a strange feeling. If I get rid of the CDV, doesn't that hurt my clutch in the long term?
nope, I haven't seen or read anything where it hurts the clutch. it's just to make it smoother to engage. if you drive it harder, it'll start wearing the clutch from slip. it will eventually hurt your 2nd gear synchro as it delays the shift. lots of documented issues with the 2nd gear over time with hard shifting with the CDV.
@@tony.nextlevelrides I have a 2023 Supra 6MT and as you know it's basically a bmw. This CDV is driving me crazy with 1st to 2nd having grownup with manuals all my life. I'm hoping to get to Stage 2 or Stage 3 pushing some descent power. If I upgrade the clutch to an aftermarket performance clutch, getting rid of the CDV now would be a good move right?
absolutely, it'll convert it all to a more conventional setup. the factory dual mass flywheel and CDV is brutal in BMW's. Once gone, it's absolutely night and day. It's exactly what I was going to do on my M235i.
Man.. What a stunning car
Awesome review. Thanks Gents! Great spec btw. I own one and definitely side with your rating. I'm a tad bit more biased and rate it 50/50.
Man , there is only one car who can win the comp vs this one , the CS
Great comparison to Pete's M2!
I own my car for 4 years + and never have a problem with 1st to 2nd
you might not be shifting fast enough. the synchro is the weak link due to the clutch delay valve.
@@tony.nextlevelrides lol, this guy 🤣😂
