Best thing that happend after He cut the fuel is that the Oil to the Turbo was feeding it keeping it running, It could be very possible the Throttle/Plungers in the injection pump are stuck and another reason why it was Wide open...

Nice video! I don't get the PCV part tho. Did he not have a PCV valve installed? I have a VTT valve installed but the hose is vented to atmosphere. Does the engine suck air in through there? I didn't want route it to the intake as i does have oil residue. Thanks!

At the beginning of 2024, the E83LCI M57N2 suddenly also began to shake, correction of cylinder 5 +5.0. The injectors were overflowing with fuel (blue smoke was coming out in the parking lot), I kept postponing the replacement and in the end I had to do a major overhaul because a crack had formed in the liner in the 5th cylinder. So, postponing the repair of injectors for ~450 USD (as of January 2024), I received repairs for ~5200 USD. It was very disappointing to receive a repair that cost 40% of the price of the car in my country (and most likely even more in yours), but after a year I still love this car and this engine. U said that u rip off the fuel and its still run away tell me that u dont know why a diesel typical run away....its because it feed it self with oil and it can be if the piston rings or cylinderwall are defect and oil can go up between piston rings and cylinder or it can causes by u talk about later if turbo is broken and oil from turbo goes up in the intake and feed the engine....its not good and i could hear that from beginning after u start engine up it doesnt sound good it sound like i got to much fuel and i could be because of oil feeding from beginning

When a diesel runs away normally means it running on oil that's leaking into the combustion chamber or turbo stuck on. I'm no mechanic but that's how I under stand it. Correct me if I'm wrong

Your plastic fuel filter is backwards

Sounds like the oil seals have gone in the Turbo, which allow it to go into run away engine.

I’m fiending for a 2016 550i xdrive… I honestly think it’s one of the greatest bang for your buck vehicles. They’re heavily depreciated, and the N63TU is the more updated and less problematic variant of this engine. Plus it looks mean as fuck! Granted, I want to do some research and find an example that has at least been vigilantly maintained!

Are you using an F series 45 or an E70 xDrive? I just acquired an E70 trans and would like to retain the awd. can i use the N54 front diff? should i be worried about gearing?

Lots of problems with head gaskets in those engines. The problem may be caused by the diesel pump or the turbo. Greetings from Spain

Can I daily the N54? Say I want a modest 350-400whp on pump 94 here in Canada, is it doable? I seriously am set on getting into a 135i, the design is just beautiful and has been a goal of mine. I'd hate to be driving another car every day while it sits in the garage. Provided I pickup one with maintenance records, with index 12s, replaced turbos, will I be alright? I'm ok with working on it myself for things like gaskets and spark plugs, but I wouldn't be able to do anything like replacing the turbos.

FWIT I have a 2018 G30 530d with the B57 engine, presently at 192441.6 Km without issue. Oil & filter change every 14,000 Km, transmission and rear diff oil change 100,000 Km (will do around 200,000 again). Has had EGR official recall work done. Four new shocks at 140,000 Km were the only other repair thing I had to do. AdBlue working fine and I use a recommended additive from the local Motor Parts Store in that and I also use Dipetane regularly - maybe a tea mug amount every tank of diesel. I also make sure to do at least twice a month a long drive on the motorway non-stop for an hour or more and maybe twenty minutes of that in Sport back to 6th gear to keep the revs around 2500 rpm. Plus, if I stop the car after a normal drive and find that the cooling fans are spinning loudly then I restart the engine and maintain the revs at 2000 rpm for another ten, fifteen minutes to allow the regeneration to complete its cycle. I hope to get to 500,000 Km without major issues.

the crank case PCV line needs to be connected to the intake elbow in front of the turbo inlet, for the turbo to pull vacuum on its own drain lines... little as half a pound, tho... a good turbo with a plugged drain line will leak near 300ml/hr. but i guess that old beamer doesn't have a full 4340 billet crank/rod set in it anyways. the 212cc lawn mower engine swaps are popular?

Don't you just love diesels. I do. Bought a Skid steer last year for an "As is" price because it was smoking like a freight train. Got it Cheap enough to replace the engine if need be and still be okay. Engine replacement anticipated at $20K. A turbo and 4 fuel injectors later ($3K) all is good. Nice work. What you were saying at the end, yeah, you should make another video like this one! Make it about what you think would be the proper route to build certain figure goals, talk about the weak points and how much hp they can handle things like the fuel system and driveshaft etc… should also make a video about preventative maintenance you should do, and every thing that can go bad and why. You guys are one of the most knowledgeable n5x channels I watch other, keep up the good videos!!
