You mentioned Breakfast Club and St Elmo's Fire. Good choices. I liked Pretty in Pink, and, though probably not really a brat pack film, Fast Times at Ridgemont High for an overall great cast and Sean Penn as no one's seen him since. BTW, thanks for the heads up. I hadn't even heard of this documentary.
Gen Xer here recommending: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “Better Off Dead” for excellent teen comedies that I watched in the 80s, “Heathers,” if I wanted dark comedy. The two that you mentioned are great. “Adventures in Babysitting” is fun too. I used to love “Revenge of the Nerds” and “16 Candles,” but unfortunately they have not aged well and the nostalgia is not worth the cringey scenes
It was ok. After a while, it started sounding like Andrew McCarthy was whining. Anthony Michael Hall was not mentioned at all, which seemed like a little bit of a diss. Jude Nelson responded too late. And Molly Ringwald didn’t want to be involved. Rob Lowe told a good story from back in the day. All told, it was very nostalgic, and if you were a fan of the movies, it was definitely worth the watch.
There were so many magazines back then. Trash, entertainment, gossip and trends and they were on every single one. All THE TIME. Imagine the Kardashians x5 if the Kardashians actually had talent, charm and personalities. Yes, they were a big deal for a long time. Kind of still are don't you think? Cheers.
My GenZ kid recently said, “I hate coming-of-age movies” lol. Most John Hughes movies are exploring white cis-het suburban teenage ennui and confusion. I love them, but I recommend watching something to “cleanse the palate” occasionally or you will end up like me in 1987, listening to “The Cure,” and “The Smiths,” and feeling very sorry yourself lol!
I can see where they are coming from, I just love different eras and I suppose I see them for their time. I do get shocked when I hear some of the things in movies that would never happen today but again, it’s of it’s time 😊 Love those bands ✨
They were a big deal I was obsessed with all the john Hughes movies I grew up in 80s my favs were Breakfast Club, sixteen candles, pretty in pink & weird science also ferris Buehlers day off, can't wait to see this,

Thank you for these suggestions!! I will add them to the list! ☺️
Watch Sixteen Candles, Red Dawn, Young Guns. You are right, teen heart throbs I was older so I didn't watch too many of their movies.
I definitely second Red Dawn as well.

Well I know their names and I didn’t grow up then so they must be! ☺️ I wish I had though, I think I would of liked the 80s!
