The first time I heard this song was in a church, where Eivør stood in the middle and looked like a mermaid. She looked so beautiful and when she sang this song I got tears in my eyes. I think of my younger sister every time i hear this song. Thank you Eivør
This was obviously performed in Iceland, for an Icelandic audience, because she told the story of how this song came to be in flawless Icelandic. The lyrics, however are in her native Faeroese, a beautiful song about her two little sisters that she missed so much while she was traveling.
I was lucky to be in Skorping on October 2007 and see her performance there. I ended up buying her records since. Her band got stuck in a train from Copenhagen and she began performing solo, including this song.
I love Eivør's voice!!! And this song is so cute. I think this version of Elisabet og Elinborg is better than the album version. This is sooo sensitive and pure!
Elisabet Maria við vøkrum bláum eygum - Elisabet Maria with beautiful blue eyes hon Málar vakrar málningar - she paints beautiful paintings við gulum og við reyðum - with yellow and red hon málar allar litirnar - she paints al the colors sum dagurin man eiga - that the dag may own sum ein føgur stjørnusól - as a pretty starsun Elisabet Maria.
tín systur er ein framúr góðsangarinda, tað er ikki langt frá eitt hon er ein av teimum bestu í heiminum. eg síggji at tú ynskir at vera sangari ein dag, eg vóni at tú verður líka góð sum systur tín. ^^ i hope you will soon see her agian .
if you don't have Æ, Ø and Ð and accents on your computer's keyboard. it is standard procedure to use the letter combinations ae for æ, oe for ø and a plain d for ð, as substitutes And as for the accents such as the one in ó, they are just ignored.
Brátt so verður friðaligt - it instanly becomes peaceful og fuglaveingir hvíla - and birdwings rest sólin bjarta svevur nú - the bright sun sleeps now og mánin fer at skína - and the moon begins to shine tá fara tær til pápa sín - then they go to their father sum søgur veit at siga - that stories know to tell and now sleep little Elinborg and Elisabet Maria
lítla søta Elinborg við sóljugulum hári - sweet little Elinborg with hair as yellow as a buttercup hon syngur og dansar frítt - she sings and dances freely og frøist nú um várið - and is very happy now in spring hon spælir sær við blómurnar - she plays with the blooms hon elskar vakrar litir - she loves beautiful colors sum ein føgur sólju drotning - like a pretty buttercupqeen í grasinum hon situr - in the grass she sits

Not much. Her voice, though? Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I don't think anyone would call her (first and foremost) a guitar player - neither would she.
