I’ve played through Baldur’s Gate 3 a total of 6 times to completion with no mods, I don’t give a damn about a “slow” start.
BG3 is at it's best in act 1. That's not a slow start game

@@ironmaidenmetalgod it is a slow start. You will not get the most powerful abilities or gear until act 2 and act 3. You will not get to level 5-6 your first real power creep level until around 13-14 hours into the game.
Thats crazy i cannot get into baldurs gate its sooo boring to me the click to move, the dice rolls, the corny voice acting it puts me right to bed

I mean the fps is pretty bad but it won't bother you that much
If it won't bother you too much, then it's not "bad". 60 fps was never a standard for graphically detailed games on console. The games that existed when current consoles were designed can all run at 60 fps. Tech advances and will always push the limits. The next console will likely be able to run DD2 at 60 fps, but future games will still push the limits and will probably look beautiful at 40 fps. Do you care when you're watching a movie at 24 fps? It's not the big deal everyone makes it.

They all unlock during story from what I heard u unlock that 1 about 70% in the story
There are specific NPCs you have to befriend that start those quest lines that you have to locate throughout the story.

Still very possible for 60fps on consoles. It hasn’t actually released yet and according to articles the game is locked to having ray tracing ON and 4K ON(might be upscaling) achieving a consistent 35-40 fps. Considering most games lock at 30fp and lower resolutions just to accommodate the heavy hitter that ray tracing is, those are actually pretty good numbers. Id have to believe the full release would come with an option to turn off ray tracing which should easily push it to 60fps. And it’s not like their game is designed to ONLY support ray trace lighting cause the series s can’t do ray tracing meaning they to have a traditional lighting version available.
The director of the game said so himself it’s going to be uncapped 30 unless they choose to suprise us but idk if they want to risk breaking the game at launch . But who knows it would be great if they did

With people having had days worth of access to it now (via walmart's error, or being reviewers with advance copies) it is *confirmed.*
FPS outside of towns is fine. Inside towns is not. With a huge number of NPCs being the only change between towns and countryside, and the GPU not being the bottleneck, it could the the AI routines that are slowing things down.
But yes, it does get under 30 in towns at times, and comfortably higher outside of them.
Even on high end PCs.

The one comment I have, and I've stressed this to loved ones and friends I've shown dragons dogma in the past who decided to pick up the game, if you are struggling with a fight or getting one shot then just run away. No need to frustrate yourself with an unwinnable scenario.
Although there is only one save file, will you be able to save at anytime like dd1 or restricted to inn and auto save only

No eternal ferrystone. Someone somewhere said that sorcerer and warrior are unlocked pretty early, I think maybe in the first big city you get to?
The 4 vocations that you can play early are fighter, archer, mage and thief. I think after like an hour I saw sorcerer so pretty early on. I’m just waiting to get magical spear hand. However you can change vocation at any times giving you a chance to switch up during the play through
Multiple save files will conflict with the pawn system. If you have one save where your pawn is level 30, and another where the pawn is level 15, how is the game server suppose to handle that? Your pawns information is updated every time you visit the Rift Stone (iirc thats how it was in DD1). So if you had multiple saves, someone rents your pawn cause you it had knowledge of a particular quest, but then lets say your pawn died in their game, and they wanted to rehire you and they see you updated your pawn, and its now a lower level, and doesn't have the knowledge it once had since you might've booted up an earlier save. Its way too much of a variable to maintain.
While I am on the side of one save file but they could have a tab on the main screen that allows you to select the pawn that will be uploaded every time you rest at an inn, I started thinking about that after I found out that humans and beastren have unique dialog and interactions based on race so now kinda want to try a human down the road. Overall do I care enough about the issue to make a big deal out of it, no I am fine with the single save like the last game.

i've never heard you wine so much before Khraze... here to make you a tiny bit happier the game in secret does keep your last 3 auto saves on file but it hides that from you cause those saves are only ever used if a save does get corrupted and fails to load
Imagine buying a 70 dollar game and the developers reduce your ability to save your progress an then hide save files from you. There was absolutely no reason for this save system. It's arrogance and stupidity at it's finest.

@@xntt-xo5qi it's our game, we will pay 70 for it. We should be able to make more characters, save as much as we want, an get any out come we want. The only thing this ensures is a longer playtime.

I never thought about being stuck in a death loop with the saving situation. That's kind of a big deal unless there is a manual save feature, and you save often. Hopefully, it's not reliant on autosave.
You can always run away, i would not worry to much.

You can manually save, you can also run away from the map, fight a camp and save that way

Nope, you can play the game in offline mode! However I think you need to have the network feature on if you wish to have other people pawns.
I doubt it will but hopefully the game adds a Transmog option.

What pawn did you go with to support thief?
Better off asking the npcs in the comments vs the RUclipsrs that never give actual responses.
Safe choice is to have a party that has access to different types of damage. Otherwise just pick whatever you want.
Main pawn was a mage. The heals are just too good. Then warrior/fighter and either another Mage/Sorc or a Ranger.

if it doesn't run at 60FPS with a 4090 then nothing i own is even close to running it at 60FPS
the realization that i will have to pass on a sequel of one of my all times favorites from the PS3 generation due to it not caring enough about frames to give me 60 for combat is a bitter drink indeed there are ways around it but Capcom choose visuals over performance so i choose not to buy until this changes

Yeah, the save file thing always gets me.
It's amazing how many issues gaming in general has caused by devs that buy into weird counterintuitive narratives.
The process is simple. What is the system? What is the intended goal? Does it accomplish this goal? Does it have additional negative outcomes.
Devs seem to have a weird somewhat one sided war going on with save scummers and wont stop forcing everyone else to foot the bill on this conflict. Sorry but modern games have way to many bugs and corruption issues to justify this attitude.
Otherwise though, so psyched that everyone I've seen seems to be loving the tips off DD2! Only hours now!

Yes in dragons dogma if you were underleveled you could spend like 20 mins on a large creature but if youre strong fight time drastically decreases

Game looks like a lot of fun and a good challenge but HATE the one save approach. All it takes is a bad bug to ruin your experience...let alone being punished for forgetting to save is a poor consumer approach.
I understand its for the pawn system...but to me its a flawed design overall.

For those who never played Dragon's Dogma: This is Dungeons & Dragons with real time combat. You'll spend roughly 15% of gameplay time micromanaging your group's loadout and inventory. In other words, Baldurs Gate 3 but with real time combat/

You're not the first creator I've seen say "DD2 was not what I expected" and honestly that statement truly baffles me. After watching loads of reviews I have to say, it's exactly what I expected. It's exactly what a lot of people (e.g. the people that have actually played the original) expected. 2: People who complain about there not being more than 1 save file never played the first game. While I understand where your coming from, saying NG+ (an integral part of Dragons Dogma) should’ve been gutted to make room for extra slots, put me off.
Having only one character slot is a legitimate issue. Like myself I like to theme my character looks based on the class I'm playing. One character slot prevents that. It's not a deal breaker but its a disappoint. I have no issue with one save file. I just would of liked more character slots.

Nope not for me unfortunately. Ive been looking forward to this release for ages now, but the devs design choices result in me just saying "NO!" lol.
The killer is the poor performance but im finding it very odd that no BIG content creator has encountered this issue & reported it yet! Tons of players with top-end rigs (4090's etc) have issues so bad teh games unplayable, so what gives .....

@LucasCamargo827 I had never played it until a week ago because it was only $5. If it's still on sale and ur unsure if u wanna put $70 on DD2, it's absolutely worth that price point. I played 60 hours and loved it. Part 2 is clearly very similar and I feel like I have a better idea going into thr new one because I played it. Story wise doesn't matter if u choose not to play 1, but it allowed me to get used to the fighting and style of gameplay.

You're not supposed to be able to reload a save file in order to keep from failing a quest. It's okay to fail quests in this game.

It's a matter of principle for me after a point.
We're paying $70 to unoffically beta test for them when a game is so poorly optimised, it can't secure 30fps in 2023. And they can't just tell it like it is.
That alongside the nickel & dime practices of having microtransactions like paying to change your character in a full price single-player game...
Some people would be grateful and defend paying for a 💩 sandwich. Though I think it's a disservice to the consumer and an insult to the intelligence of some of us.
When so *many* people have said that these design choices would be this way, when the first game (with identical design choices) was available to try and see for only a few dollars... how could you not have expected it?
Ahh... low end research, or more likely, none at all.
The fact that the save system is, essentially, an ironman mode is repeated by you so frequently is well worth mentioning. As even the smallest amount of research would have mentioned:
*There is no save scumming in Dragon's Dogma.*
Plan ahead. Live with your mistakes. Rise above them. And from there, carve your own path to victory.
Only a Japanese developer could have made a weird and quirky ass game like this and make it work and actually be this good on top of it. God bless Japan.

They wanted you to deal with the consequences of your actions that was the same in the first one and give you more to do in ng+ hence the single save so no save scuming. And you said at level 15 you can take anything on then later talked about getting one shot from a reload Im confused.

console players complaining about fps to me is insane. consoles dont even have a way to view your fps like on pc so theyve never even known that theyve been playing on 30 fps for years lol
Come on. A console player can see when motion stutters representing a dip in frame rate. Also consoles today even use approved mods in some games and FPS indicators are popular mods.
As a hardcore DD fan, I’m not spending 80 for a game. That’s absolutely ridiculous; I’ll wait until it goes on sale, as I’ve got plenty of other games to get to anyway

Welp no wonder its limited to 30 on potato station devs didnt want to compromise on losing quality so they did the best they could for the spec limitations and locked the framerate. Same case was for switch allways thus the scuffed games that ran but had their graphics lowered so hard it hurt. You want 60 or more? get a gaming pc not a toy.

30 fps and I pay extra to get a Xbox series x version? Why? If I'm not getting at least 60 fps there is no point. Also would of liked to see multiplayer at least a 2-4 player mode. I played original and enjoyed because I wasn't expecting much. I expected more with this release.

The performance is horrendous 🤢 Unlocked 30fps on PS5 with no LFC support and it drops down to 17/18fps some time 🤮
Xbox Series X got the same frame rate but at least it got build in LFC support so it’s not as bad like the PS5 version.
But it’s still a hard pass, no thanks.

The save system doesn't seem nonsensical at all. Neither do the time-sensitive quests. From a design perspective, players are meant to fail, in one way or another. It's supposed to be a way to show that even the hero of the story can't be perfect.
Agreed on the meaning of failure. But I think there's a better way to do it than just restricting it to one single, easy to overwrite save file. Especially since force closing the game kinda bypasses that anyway. Amazing game still
