Great, simple and to the point advice! As for shoes, I get hit on and flirted with more than any other time when I wear a sports jacket and cowboy boots. Doesn't matter if I'm in a big city or around home lol
this has been my favorite look lately, I have been layering it with a sweeter as its the colder part of the year in my region. Tip if your just starting dressing up and your colleges ask why you are wearing that you can just say I'm cold
nice video, good to have both of you back tgt. and blake, i think we can do both standard and suede leather monks. just gotta know how to wear them. but ofc, suede will be easier to blend in with the smart casual look! cheers!
I mostly rock the leather Cognac single monks with my blazers and dark denim for a sweet look attending church or some other semi-casual events. Great video guys! You both look sharp (clothing-wise) in this video!
New subscriber, Gents! Great tips, indeed. What usually always works for me without fail is a fitted mock or turtle-neck to compliment a casual Blazer, which also pairs great with low-rise Jeans. Speaking of Jeans, I tend to respectfully disagree with the ankle-cut tailor, because it makes your Jeans look more so like a pair of Suit pants, or even Capri pants for that matter. Jeans, in my humble opinion, are way too casual for such a tailored ankle-cut. But of course, no excuses for excessive hem stacking either.
Good point! I think it all depends on your shoes to determine the hem and taper of a pant you can get away with. If your shoe has more size to it (Allen Edmonds tassel loafer looks much larger on foot than a santoni loafer) with a sleeker shoe you need a more tailored pant.
@@gentslounge Emphatically agreed! Your shoes will no doubt become the "boss dictator" of how your trouser should be tailored. Great perspective, Gents. It's an honor to have found your Channel.
It's my understanding that a Blazer is made from a finer wool with basically little texture and brass buttons. A sport coat is made with a wide variety a materials and textures and has regular plastic buttons. Sport coats with jeans yes, Blazers no.
You mean Tom Ford? Classic style isn't going anywhere, for men... NOR for women You are free to wear exactly what you want! But if you want to look good... go timeless, go classy
I where a whased jean with a blazer, no problem at al. and some times with colored or paderent dress shoes. and i always get complyments. BTW i live in the Netherlands
That’s fine. We’re just saying it’s not the first combo we would try out. It’s possible for almost anything to look good if the fit and your confidence is on point.
As a 60 year old fit man would I be a poser if I dressed in indigo jeans, dress shirt and blazer with maybe dress boots? Im a commercial real estate broker in Los Angeles and my clients are half my age is many cases. Need prospects to relate to me. Thanks.
I don't think so. It's about what you feel comfortable in and making sure the fit is right for you and your age. I see a lot of older guys that pull the look off flawlessly and many that completely miss the mark. You're in LA? Shoot me an email if you want to grab a drink and chat. George@gentslounge.com
Question: if I generally wear a regular length, should I opt for a short? I'm 6'1. I've noticed guys in casual dress with short Blazers but thought it was just a preference thing. Once again another great video. A lot of things I didn't know to consider. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
The problem with getting a short might make the arms too short. Just make sure your jacket is fitted and the blazer doesn't hang past your butt. Most suit jackets are cut shorter these days so you should be fine.
love your guys videos keep up the great work can you tell us best places to search online or shop for all essentials like t shirts jeans blazers pants socks shirts underwear etc etc thanks :)
Do you think a white oxfotd shirt would go well with binge blazer, indigo denim jeans, and dark brown Chelsea boots? I'm a guest at a wedding and that's what I'm thinking of wearing?
Kind of hard to take advice from guys that don't even know the difference between a suit jacket and a blazer. The difference is... None! A suit jacket is worn with matching suit pants. A blazer is a suit jacket worn with odd pants. As soon as you wear the suit jacket with odd pants it becomes a blazer. Simple as that!
Blazers are typically cut shorter than a suit. These days people cut some suit jackets like that so you have the option to wear it casually. A jacket that covers your whole seat worn with denim is a bad look in our opinion.
@@gentslounge No, blazers are not typically cut shorter. Like I said. It's not about the construction, it's how it's worn. A suit jacket is worn with matching pants. When you wear a suit jacket with odd pants it becomes a blazer. The same way goes for a blazer. When you match pants with a blazer it becomes a suit jacket. I know you think that blazers are cut differently but that's simply not true. The real reason is that most people choose to wear a more casual looking suit jacket as a blazer. Like you said it yourself. A jacket that covers the seat doesn't look good with denim but it's still a blazer when it's worn with odd pants. I don't fault you on this. The misinformation comes from misinformed "fashion bloggers". You should get your info from real connoisseurs like myself that actually know the history of traditional menswear.
Blazer, single or double-breasted, solid colour normally navy blue, a little less structure fit. Metallic buttons, in a classic blazer, are in gold, silver colour with or without nautical motif, a mother pearl is also an option. Anything else is not a blazer is a sport coat or sports jacket.
@@SalvadorCalaf HAHAHA No! Like I said. A blazer has nothing to do with how it is constructed but how it's worn! If a suit jacket is worn without the suit pants it becomes a blazer. A blazer is simple a jacket you wear with odd pants. It's as easy as that. It has nothing to do with colors, buttons or any other bullshit. Please learn before you speak. A sport coat is a blazer worn when you are doing sports. Like hunting or similar. It has nothing to do with construction either.
I might have agreed with you 4 or 5 years ago, Christian. But what I was seeing back then and before was so many guys doing this look incorrectly. Usually way too dressy of a shoe, or too long and formal of a jacket...(usually a suit jacket was used), and that doesn't look right. But man, when the shoes and shirt and blazer are just informal enough....this look ROCKS!!
Sorry your feel that way. I agree when you’re sitting you should unbutton your jacket. For camera purposes we leave it buttoned sometimes because it offers a cleaner look and we sit with a more upright posture on the edge of our seats when we film so there is minimal pulling.
I'm going to a job interview in IT-related field. Do I really need to wear a blazer (since suit is way too formal) over my shirt and slacks, and do I need to wear a tie, with blazer or not? Thanks
Who makes your favorite Blazer to wear casually??
Gent's Lounge Tommy Hilfiger is my go to! Fits me perfectly
Nice!

Been wearing this combo before you were born...started in the 1960's with a corduroy blazer and jeans...always a classic casual look!
Brown or bottle green corduroy.., awesome

Thank Anthony!
Great tips. I was gonn pull a jeans blazer look but I canceled it bc you were right about a suit blazer having too much padding and length

Could a nice pair of corduroys be substituted for dark denim? Just tying to figure out other ways to wear my corduroy!
I don’t see why not. Just make sure the fit is 👌🏻👌🏻

Harris tweed all day long. A pair of Carmina whole cuts and a Seiko Padi with a strap code jubilee band.

Gran estilo y calidad en las prendas. 👏
I’m a bigger guy and have little to no neck. I love the turtleneck with the blazer look. Any suggestions on an alternative to the turtleneck?

Casual business meetings, dates, anywhere you want to dress up a little bit not too much.
