I absolutely enjoyed this video! the only question I have is about pocket square. In some of your pics I've seen online, you were wearing pocket square with sport coat & jeans! Honestly, I think it looked great. I agree with you that wearing a neck-tie would be definitely too much. But, pocket square not only looked great on you, it also added a little bit of elegance and sense of humor at the same time!
Love the casual weekend fedora look. I mostly have patch pocket sports jackets and blazers because of their laid back appearance. The option of not wearing a pocket square is interesting as I always reach for pocket squares when wearing these style of outfits. The fedora certainly adds a certain degree of confidence and self assuredness which does not go unnoticed. Great advanced level style channel.
That 4th look is absolutely stunning. Your turtleneck outfits are always my favorite, as they telegraph such mature and debonair sophistication. Always look forward to your videos, Brian, and you killed it as usual!
......I like your channel, but here is my take: 1. you can wear a tie with jeans and a blazer BUT, only a skinny tie, it keeps the siloette more slimmer and casual. 2. When wearing jeans and a blazer, the finish is essential, NO HARD BOTTOM SHOES!!! It makes the outfit too dressy and ruins the casual vibe ( the footwear is the key ALWAYS ). 3. If you do the pocket square, NO TIE. It works better as the only eye catcher, you could have done it with that turtle neck sweater look ( great hat also, nice touch there!! ). 4. If I go jeans and blazer with no tie, I generally go with a patterned sweater vest for pop ( the sweater vest is an underused artillery weapon ). It always provides that prep swing that's timeless style. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 🔥 NICE JOB!!!
Thank you! Couldn’t figure out a tie which would look acceptable with jeans/jacket and now I don’t have to worry about it. Saved me from looking bad and saved me money!
In the UK the sports coat is more referring to one where you have metal buttons at the end of the sleeves of the jacket. We normally call non suiting jackets blazers and we normally don't label much else as sports coats...
Also, my favorite jeans are solid dark grey, navy, black, white and khaki in straight or slim fit. I don't like faded, distressed, whitewash etc. Also, the double breasted doesn't do much for me. My favorite outfits are solid dark grey jeans with navy blazer and dark navy jeans with tweed in shades of olive or brown.
Agreed Neil, I think it works (for me) when i wear a clean dark jeans paired with a simple wool or linen pocket square. But like the double breasted jacket, it is something that won't work for everybody (doubled breasted with jeans and open buttons not for me). Everything else in this video is Ace!
Not everyone understands the differences between just combine the clothes and to really dress well depending on the type of clothes and fabrics, you do and thats awesome, and also very important for a man to develope his own style, you did that a long time ago, congrats and thank you for your advices. 🙌🏻
The best and most sincere as always. Not sure about no tie with jeans rule though. I pool it of in several occasion with success, even though I tend to under dress because of mine 6.6 stature. Ties should be knit or of plain wool fabric.
This advice is on point, Brian. Believe me when I say, I’ve seen this done so wrong so many times. This style can look very frumpy when a fellow doesn’t adhere to these details!
I like the fedora with the plaid jacket, I totally agree with dropping the pocket square. I think the right color and material of a more casual tie can work. Of course everyone has an opinion. Thanks. Interesting opinions on "Blazers" worn with jeans. I've worn Blazers with jeans on many occasions with pocket squares. It requires some thought, however, when done correctly, the look is often what I call "elevated casual". Style is individual, and your channel provides many novices with the fashion "tools" for dressing well. Here's a topic for a video that may interest your viewers and prospective viewers: How Does a Man Develop Individual Style?
The first and 3rd outfit is lit. Something I can relate to as I usually pair my blazer with denim pants. However, I’m always conflicted as to whether or not to use a pocket square for such a casual ensemble. What’s your take on this, Brian?
A couple of things Brian: 1. The buttons of the jacket/sports coat I always think should be brown...be it dark or light, especially if you are wearing brown shoes/belt. I never wear black shoes/boots/belt with blue jeans, only dark or light grey. Don't know what you think about this??? 2. You talk a lot about fabrics, a close up of the hopsack etc would be very useful for many I feel, given its of paramount importance here. Great video!
You are a very well spoken individual, it makes watching your content relaxing and pleasurable, a quick question: with your sense of style what type of fit do you regularly wear, Off the Rack, MTM or Bespoke?
Great outfits! I usually don't wear white shirts with jeans, I feel that it clashes to much with the jeans and the sport coats and blazers I've got. However, the grey blazer in the first outfit makes it work!
@@hespokestyle I personally find it too stark, but that could also depend on the exact colour of the jeans. My only pair of jeans looks quite rugged and perhaps the clean elegance of a white dress shirt makes the contrast too stark.
I really like to wear blazer and jeans to office recently and I got so much complements but to be honest I don’t really know how to style it, thanks for these rules! Onwards and upwards.
Light grey blazer with jeans, that's my style and my comfort zone, I guess. I think everything is balanced. It's an outfit I'd defnitely would love to wear. Love the muted colors and those leather boots are simply amazing! The other outfits are great too. I'd have a go on them as I try little by little. Thanks for the ideas. Just one more thing, you have very good taste for watches, they are stunning.
Great pointers mentioned however I would say a knit tie has a more casual element to it and which makes it more casual. Also a pocket square does distract the eye from the simplicity of the look but I think a simple pocket square no patterns or design could work well maybe white cotton or a colour matching the shirt or top you have on
Hi Brian, love your channel keep up the great content. What is your definition of a blazer? In my mind it’s always been a typically solid sportcoat with brass or metal buttons. Your distinction between a suit jacket and a blazer to me or somewhat blurred. Thanks
I think you made some great points however in my opinion you can probably get away with a knit tie with Blazer and jeans. Sense that type of tie has a casual element itself. Great content!
I’m with Blaq Byrd on this one a knit tie can look great with the blazer/jeans combo. Great video as always Brian I always enjoy your content and presentation. Keep up the good work.
Hey Brian great video as always! Must say #2 and #5 was the best IMO. The colours on look #2 were spot on and look #5 is how I think people should be pairing jeans and jackets together: casually. I guess as you mentioned, it's best to go with a jacket that matches the jeans, rather than trying to find a jean that matches the jacket. One of the more (surprisingly) difficult looks to pull off without looking like you just picked out whatever was dry that day. Kudos! - Han
Thank you, in so many levels. This is inevitably where I gravitate as I'm in my late 20s and a suit can be too much in my environment at times... I agree 100% with the tie, you see it on Instagram and it looks awful but I do like to wear pocket squares most of the times. Loved all the looks except the last one (but can appreciate it), if I had to choose one it's probably the brown jacket on raw denim and brown boots. You only missed a nice modern tweed but 10/10 video thanks
HI Brian, i really appreciate your channel which provides us with great advice on fashion. May I also know the brand of your glasses which fits you perfectly?
I disagree with the pocket square. If you wear a puff style, it’s more casual and is a great replacement for the tie and always get compliments. Of course, all a matter of opinion. I also find a pocket square focuses people’s attention to your cheat/face and not your stomach if you have to weight in your mid section.
Hi Brian, love that navy cardigan you wear throughout the video. Perhaps if I may suggest that if you could make a video on how to wear cardigan & v/crew neck sweater, would love to watch! Cheers, from 🇲🇾
Hey Brian great video as always! Imo you didn't mention 2 crucial style points: 1. the blazer should be unstructured and on the shorter side 2. jeans should be a dark wash (although i really liked the white denim outfit) with a tailored fit and no distressing. And please no running shoes! Cheers!!!
- nice video Brian! i really like outfit #1 (and the grey jacket). i like the colour of the charcoal grey too. outfit #4 was super cool! - but i disagree with you for 2 points: i think a cotton/linen pocket square in a puff/playful fold is just fine. in fact, my humble opinion is that we should always have a pocket square, but change it up according to the outfit formality (or lack of). - also, i think wearing a DB jacket unbuttoned makes the torso appear boxy, not something that i'd be keen on. - haha, cheers and thanks for the great videos!
@@hespokestyle thanks for being open to different opinions. I think part of your style has gotten a little bit more casual than say a couple of years ago. Would you agree?
Please consider sharing about the books or insights that you would suggest to other entrepreneurs. I would love to learn some wisdom from a successful person like you.
I think a good rule of thumb when pairing sportcoats and jeans is to go with linen, hopsack , corduroy , cotton and heavy wool or tweed sportcoats .That's what I would wear and forgo shinier dressier suit jackets.
You can also balance a suit jacket (more formal looking jackets) with a more rugged looked in the jeans and boots. The fabrics don't necessarily have to match, that's just being "safe".
Nice. My hair is about your length, sometimes shorter but very fine texture. I bought a Wahl electric clipper a few years ago. It was the best investment I ever made. I started off keeping the sides trimmed in between visits to the barber and have gradually worked up to doing the whole head. Start slow and use a larger guard until you get a feel for what you are doing as you say. I do still go to the barber (not now obviously) because they do a better job but between visits it's a peach.
Very nice video, like looks 1,2 and 5, like you mentioned the last look can't be pull off by every one but, i think is very cool and a "think out of the box style" , well done!
I have this video saved and every time I watch it, I want to comment on the pocket square. I see I already have two and counting on this 3 year old video.. I hope you can tell I've really grown to love the channel though.
Hi Brian. I will have to disagree with your definition of a blazer. IMO a blazer is solid color and has metal buttons or white/off white or noticeable contrasting buttons. The other type of blazer are those stripped regatta blazers. Love your channel and love the outfits that you pick since they happen to often be similar to my style.
Thanks for the support. I knew that a small minority would want a purists definition here, which is why I noted that I'd post another video with a more in-depth look. The reality is, however, that the majority of people use these terms interchangeably. Does it matter? IMO, not really. It's worse to be the person making people feel stupid because they're not using the exact right term. That's not what this is about. There's a way to teach and inform without going that route.
My favorites are 1, 2 and 4. I've been wearing similar outfit to look 1, though not as stylish as you :) Look 4 is brilliant brings out a cool, modern sophistication.
Great rules and looks Brian. Jeans are so practical and versatile. Although, I’m guilty of breaking the no-pocket square rule! Could scarfs and ascots be added to the outfits though? Cheers 🥂
I actually disagree with the no-pocket square rule. But then again...It's not actually a rule, is it ; ) I think the second outfit definitely needed a pocket square.
All of your looks are great as normal but that last one I'm trying to figure that one out. That one is definitely an anomaly for me. Great job as always.
@@hespokestyle i think black jeans keep the looks more formal so they tie in very well with the sport coat, white sneakers and un-button shirt add the casualness to the outfit, therefore this looks is very clean, achromatic and pleasing
I agree with you I'm pretty much all points, what's a good not too expensive sport jacket brand that you can pair with a nice five pocket casual pants..
Personally, I don't own an Apple watch. Just not for me. And I don't really understand the appeal. I mean, I want to get away from my phone most of the time!
Hey Brian, loved the video. I've got a question about coats. What kind of outerwear would you consider wearing for each outfit? Especially for look number 4, which is my favorite look. Thanks, keep it up the good content man
Love this, you always have great variaty. If I could change one thing it would be using a less structured sportcoat for the last look. But I can see that if you want to give it a bit of 70s rockstar vibes the structure is a great addition.
So... as soon as I start to think of how to style my jeans and blazer, Brian releases on everything I need to know 😃 Btw look 1,2&5, are just awesome, simple clean and elegant.
The athletic shoes, jeans and , with two unbutton shirt and blazer - you look good but the style is everyday. The style of no socks, khakis, shirt and blazer is very casual. I would expect that in the summertime. The hat and rubbed neck with Blazer and jeans look like you are traveling to Europe. I like the way you have individualized your style.

Please consider sharing about the books or insights that you would suggest to other entrepreneurs. I would love to learn some wisdom from a successful person like you.
Awesome. Wilco!
Last one very unexpected but beautiful. Very informative and well thought, thanks !
Many thanks! Always appreciated.
Hi Brian, first of all great video as always!
In your opinion, would you consider using a pocket square and/or tie while wearing a blazer and chinos?
Thanks, as always, Eliazar!
Another great video! I know you’re not suppose to wear a pocket square, but I loooovvee it !
Thanks, as always. A pocket square can work for some--I just left it out.
I think a knitted tie can work with blazer and jeans (with solid button down)
You better go boy!
I have this video saved and every time I watch it, I want to comment on the pocket square. I see I already have two and counting on this 3 year old video.. I hope you can tell I've really grown to love the channel though.
This help a lots when you show how to dress. Big thanks.
I've been wearing similar outfit to look 1, though not as stylish as you :)
Look 4 is brilliant brings out a cool, modern sophistication.
Many thanks, as always for the comment!
I tend to shy away from suit looking blazer and fabric 100s and above, when pairing with jeans. Looks 1 to 4 is fantastic..yep, 5 is more niche
Thanks for the comment, Douglas!
Great video, I loved the hat outfit the most. But they all look great.
One of my favorites as well. Thanks for the comment.
Loved the video and your pairings. Do you have a particular place where you buy your watches? Thanks
Thanks. Any particular watch you're talking about?
I loved the Cartier.
Brother Happy New year.Hope you are doing healthy emotionally and physically
That watch collection though *__*
Great rules and looks Brian.
Jeans are so practical and versatile.
Although, I’m guilty of breaking the no-pocket square rule!
Could scarfs and ascots be added to the outfits though?
Cheers 🥂
It's possible to pull off--just not for me!
I actually disagree with the no-pocket square rule. But then again...It's not actually a rule, is it ; )
I think the second outfit definitely needed a pocket square.
I really love all the outfits. That's cool and awesome. I'll try for sure. Thanks for showing😊
All of your looks are great as normal but that last one I'm trying to figure that one out. That one is definitely an anomaly for me. Great job as always.
Thanks, Christopher. I've worn similar looks as the last before.
Thanks for sharing, which blazer would you recommend for the Arizona heat? TIA
Hey love the videos I was just wondering if you could address the new trend of Apple watches and where you think they fit in Men’s tailored fashion
Thanks, keep it up the good content man
When I'm wearing a sportcoat I can only wear an overcoat otherwise I feel too restricted. But that's just me! A modern trenchcoat if it's raining
A nice wool coat would look nice. I might pick a Balmacaan.
Any more details on which white poplin shirt you're wearing here? I love it, but Michael Andrew's has something like 11 in stock!
Yes. Here it is: hespokestyle.com/product/white-poplin-dress-shirt/
I would love to see a video on the difference in collars. Also on how to wear them and what not to do. Can you please do one soon?
Great topic. It's definitely on the list.
Look #4!
Boom! Thanks!
Love this, you always have great variaty. If I could change one thing it would be using a less structured sportcoat for the last look. But I can see that if you want to give it a bit of 70s rockstar vibes the structure is a great addition.
Thanks for chiming in, Vincent.
Would you kindly do a video for senior citizens. I am 71 and trying to assemble a few attractive pieces that will suit my age.
I like how he goes to great lengths to describe each article of clothing and then casually notes he’s wearing a $50,000 ALS watch lol.
In your opinion, would adding a lapel pin/lapel chain also make the blazer and denim look too formal?
I'm honestly not a fan of either. To me, it looks rather affected.
So... as soon as I start to think of how to style my jeans and blazer, Brian releases on everything I need to know 😃
Btw look 1,2&5, are just awesome, simple clean and elegant.
You didn’t know I was a mind reader?
Excellent choice of watches!
How to style a DB suit/jacket please!!
That's a great topic. Thanks.
Really love look 3 and 4 :) others are great aswell tho.
Awesome! Thanks so much!
