The unique Reversible Flexible Shaft Machine has a NEW 1/6 HP motor that runs in standard or reverse rotation. I just opened my box today that I got for Christmas. I turned it on the forward position and the handpiece began to spin in my hand and got really hot in the area where the handpiece and shaft meets then turned off. It wouldn't come back on in the forward position but it did in the reverse position and it didn't spin at all. Any reason why this happened?

The 5240 kit is the best kit for most people. It has plenty of power and the included accessories are great for most woodcarvers.
Does the tool blow the dust away? I use a dremel with a little fan piece at the base of the bit to blow away dust.
Hi Gabriel. The Foredom does not come with any kind of fan to blow away the dust. You can turn the tool into reverse so the dust is pushed away from you, but most people will use some kind of dust collector to keep from breathing the dust or having the dust make a mess.
