This came up in my feed. IIRC, I critically commented on another video of yours a time back. This video was very good. I run a Foredom TX as a daily driver and also have a Foredom SR on the same stand. Foredom's metal pedal on the TX and a Lucas pedal on the SR. Both pedals are outstanding, albeit quite different, and offer a noticeable upgrade over Foredom's plastic pedal. Similarly, Foredom sells two stands: The clamp style, as in the video, and another that bolts to the bench. I have both. If you're in a position where you can pop holes in your bench, the screw down model is the better option. Good luck.
Great video. I’m currently using the Dremel 3000 and on my 2nd flex shaft after 2yrs of carving. This video helped me make the decision to step up to a Foredom.
I purchased a Dremel 3000 and on high speeds it was OK no operating issues, but when I ran it on its slowest setting it would speed up on its own accord to unacceptable levels. I returned it for a refund, but they would only refund the actual Dremel 3000 unit, not all the other parts that I purchased at the same time(Flex shaft, accessory kit , case etc), and that is a warning to people purchasing through Amazon, get the base unit and then when happy purchase the other parts over time and build your collection as you go. I have now purchased a Foredom SR and why I am watching this video. Great video and useful info.....
I started with a Dremel 3000 and have upgraded to the 4300. I'm a hobby carving amateur enthusiast and it works great for me. The main reason I keep dreaming of the Foredom is the ability to run 1/4 burrs. It would really speed up up the removal process. Can't really justify the cost just yet. Maybe when I retire. Thanks for the Video Matt👍
Thanks for the vid! OF COURSE it's worth it. Supporting quality tools built in America, brings its own premium. Pride in your work, pride in your tools. Both of these helps make a purchase worth it.
Im just starting. I just bought the Dremel Stylo. My eventual plan is to upgrade. After I get more comfortable and better at wood work. I also am working on pyrography. I know combining the 2 is possible. That’s what I’d like to experiment with. So new to the work and the channel. Thanks for releasing the content you do. I think I can learn a lot from your videos.
@@CorneliusCreations I’m working hard on improving my technique. When better I’d like to purchase the razor tip dual kit and some of the other equipment you have mentioned. It’s not just you, I’ve watched many videos and most if not all use the razor tip tools etc. i looked at the different offers and for now it’s sort of mind boggling how many different options and kits they have based on need etc. I’ll figure it out eventually lol just finished a project I made for my work. I’m quite happy with the end product. Tons of noticeable mistakes but I figure it will smooth itself out the more I work at it. It seriously helps having a steady hand giving tips and advice and showing how to be better. Thank you.
Thank you very much buddy! Very interesting and useful video! I love carving wood with a chainsaw, but recently I decided to try cutting small pieces with FOREDOM. It's also very interesting!👋👍
Hello, very good review, I have two questions: -How long in minutes can I work and how much rest time should be given so that it does not overheat? -What is the maximum time I can use it per day? I ask because I have a Dremel 4300 and I don't know what happens because I use it for 20 minutes and let it rest for another 20 to be able to use it, I have already taken it to be repaired several times and it continues to break, I don't know why and I want to see if I buy this one that looks more powerful, I use it to carve wood and bone. Thank you in advance, greetings 🤙🏽
Hey there! Thank you for the kind words! So there is no comparison between the 4300 and Foredom SR. The Foredom can be used hours day and will not be burned up. In your situation, I’d toss that Dremel and go with the Foredom and never look back. You won’t regret it.
@@CorneliusCreations Thanks for answering, I will do so. Since I bought it, I think it has been under warranty longer than I have used it. Finally, I have seen several of your videos, they are very useful. I will continue visiting your channel. Greetings 🤙🏽

Thank you for this interesting demonstration. I carve the wood with a Dremel and knives. I would also like to purchase a Foredome for carving wood AND occasionally carving soft stone. Can this model do that? THANKS !!
I saw in another video that you tried the Dremel Fortiflex. For carved wood sculpture what do you recommend between the Foredom SR and the Dremel Fortiflex? I also wanted to ask if you noticed a noise difference (DB) between the two motors, which one makes less noise?
I inherited a Foredom handpiece... appears to the the H.8 .. Grandpop carved NZ jade and bone and things a bit. I don't think this one was hardly used. I make wooden flutes and sculpted "blocks" (like a little totem on the flute as a removable part). I have no motor etc... my favorite tool so far is a Black & Decker battery rotary tool I removed the ass end off and wired directly. But it's weak.
Foredom uses 1/4 inch Kutzall burs. Really Hogs out wood. If you have lots of time to play Dremel is great. Foredom has 25 habits and 6 motors. Used as standard tool for jewelers.
Hey Matt, thanks for the video, right now i use a dremel Stylo, but looking into buying a dremel 4000 as it has more power. Not ready just yet for a Foredom, but would love to upgrade sometime!
So you don't use top speed when intense hogging? I guess I assumed it would work best at higher speed for that. Would it put too much stress on the machine?
I will go slower if I am developing burn marks. For some of my hickory handles, I won’t run the Foredom full blast because the coarse kutzall burrs perform better running slower on this type of wood. You have to get a feel for what you are doing and allow the tool to talk to you if that makes sense. Fast doesn’t always equal clean smooth cuts when hogging.
Makes total sense. I'm sure I'll get a feel for it. I already am as I practice things. Thanks for answering! I wasn't sure you would see this because it's an old video and I know you're a busy man! I appreciate it! If you don't mind answering one more curious question, what is your favorite wood to carve?

I carve ivory with an older dremel with flex shaft. Given the difficulty in obtaining legal ivory now, I'm going to move into carving wood as well, fine work, high detail.
