Loud Grumpy Diesel Locos - Netlumená Bardotka - Laute Dieselloks

The distinctive "Grumpy" type diesel locomotives are among the most popular in Continental Europe, thanks to their unique styling with the front-end that looks like a frowning face and the loud engine accoustics.
Over 300 were built by ČKD in Prague during the 1960s and 70s, making this Bo-Bo locomotive one of the most successful main line diesels in former Czechoslovakia. Today, a decent number of engines are still preserved in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
This film shows the two locomotives 749 259 (light blue) and 749 006 (light red and white) in action around Prague in late May 2020, as part of the weekend-only excursion trains operated by KŽC Doprava to worthwhile destinations out in the Bohemian countryside.
Most of the preserved "Grumpy" diesel locomotives have roaring engine accoustics, as they are unsilenced. Czech railwaymen have referred to this locomotive type since the 1960s as "Bardotka", in reference to Brigitte Bardot, the French superstar of the 1960s with noteworthy front-end herself!

Die tschechische Baureihe 749/751 (ursprünglich T478) ist bei Bahnfans besonders beliebt, weil viele dieser farbenfrohen Dieselloks mit dem Finstergesicht keinen Schalldämpfer haben. Der Sechszylinder- Viertaktdieselmotor von ČKD produziert ein uriges Knattern, vor allem beim Beschleunigen und in Steigungen.
In diesem Film sind die markante Vorserienlok 749 006 sowie die hellblaue 749 259 im Einsatz an zwei Prager Bahnhöfen zu sehen, nach Wiederaufnahme des touristischen Ausflugverkehrs am Wochenende vom 23. und 24. Mai 2020. Beide Loks gehören dem privaten EVU KŽC Doprava, die touristischen Ausflugsfahrten sind jedoch behördlich bestellt und können mit normalen Fahrkarten verwendet werden.
