EVs made it obvious that most of the performance of ICE cars is the noise they make. The car yells at you that it's driving fast so drivers believe it.
Only partially true because 65% of owners have no idea what their car costs. Then most even do not own and are slaves of a bank first. So after more than 100 years of mediocre burning of fossile fuels and destroying the planet we should learn to produce more green energy and it’s for many people today already possible to become FREE. We e.g. have low cost water energy and more or less ‚free‘ PV power, so an EV is our contribution to the 2‘000 Watt society too. More important, especially in Europe liar industry promised the so called 2-Litres-Car. A car using 2 litres on 100 km or 60 miles. Today my 333 PS/HP and 608 Nm going 0-100/60 in 5 seconds and uses 16,8 kWh or about 2 litres is very real and any Tesla as the only US car has such sensational figures too. Any similar ICE uses 15-20 litres or 10 times more. Fuel that stems from questionable sources that do not share our values and make us slaves and dependent!
Stupid drivers ur loud but ur only doin 20 miles per hour
Detroit finally figured out what buyers want from their ice cars, they want them to go vroom, vroom. It’s doubtful that owners of vroom vroom cars understand the noise does not make them any faster. I had a good laugh with a CHP officer the other day, we both agreed that upon stepping on the gas and releasing all that noise, the car waiting for all that reciprocating to respond, really didn’t go anywhere.
"Why can't you just shut up and move - stupid car! " Hahahahahahahahaha
😂😂😂
Lol, I know🤣
Ha not voice activated
Most ICE fans have never been in a performance EV
Many ev fans not either
@@sparkysho-ze7nm bro, that's nonsence. EV is relatively new and it is obvious everyone is used to ICE cars. The only way they become EV fans is through trying these new genre. They fall in love and they would FORGET how ICE cars were. Just think again lol
Like driving a plodding horse drawn carriage versus a Model T... an era is coming to an end.
Solar spills are for gulf coast beaches NOT oil spills
I had the same reaction to the acceleration of my son in law's Model 3 in track mode. But I also enjoyed when he pulled up to a light he'd have it "idling" with Super car sound effects. So much fun to see the looks on the faces of other drivers.
Twilight of the fossil fuel gods, I call it.
The only noise I like in my car is the music.
Hi, LARS. glad you are having fun.
but, we already knew that ICE Lux Performance cars were finished back in 2012 when TESLA launched its Flagship model S.
Performance LUX & Muscle cars have been in steady DECLINE since Tesla model S introduction.
while it was far from Perfect at Launch, it has Evolved into a BENCHMARK for Muscle & LUX Performance models.
I think the NEW model 3 Prformance will set a NEW Benchmark of what a Compact Performance car can be. same for NEW model Y Performance , when it gets Released.
So far this year in 3 months I have only spent about $100 charging my model 3 performance as I can charge at work for free.😊 I expect to spend around $300 to $400 for the year.
I suspect the Tesla roadster is probably going to go from 0 to 60 in just over 1 second.
Again I say Thank You Lars, wonderful work to put these vlogs rogether...
I totally agree with you. I feel the same if I drive a ICE vehicle now.
Lars, indeed! I have a 2020 Model 3 SR+, the slowest Tesla you could by at the time, and I can still beat any ice cars next to me 0-speed limit off the green light , I do it each and every time , no v-8, v-10, V-6, 4 cylinder turbo , no trans, no waiting ! And no noise either! I told a friend who has a Dodge Challenger Hemi “ hey when you wanna just pass someone the police ( and everyone ) can hear you two blocks away, when I feel like speeding , I can go do 80 or 90 and no one will know if they don’t see me” 😄😄😄😄
Autoline Daily suggested that Legacy Auto should just keep making 5 million cars a year and $10 billion in profits and stop competing with Tesla. Who will buy those 5 million cars? At what price to make $10 billion in profits? Insanity. My 2022 TM3LR is far less expensive. I can drive 300 miles for just $9! Until gas prices are under $2/gallon, EV wins.
Less than $2 / gallon for gas? Not going to see that again. But that was probably your point. 😉
A gallon is about 4 liters, that'll cost you 8 dollars in the Netherlands. And it's not becoming cheaper soon. So the change to ev's cannot be stopped in Europe.
5 million per year down from ~70 million globally? Or 5M down from the largest single legacy companies that have been making about 10M per year?
Either way, cutting 50% or cutting 93% means losing a lot of economies of scale. The cost of parts will increase. Already thin margins mean that asking prices will have to increase. That will turn into a death spiral.
@@hardyvonwinterstein5445
And we're around $5/gallon in California. That's a market driver.
@@longmuskox4194
Building cars designed to fail post warranty is not a model that will lead to long term survival.
My guess is that most legacy companies are going to fail in some mode or another. Outright failure, bankruptcy with a restart as an EV manufacturer, or bought out by a Chinese EV company just to get the brand name.
I guess there might be the option of rebadging Chinese EVs.
Depending on how much you prioritize 0-100, priceparity lies way back in the past, on that point, you can compare the base Model 3, with AMGs or whatever, and they are a complete different pricerange.
Very interesting to see your experience with the R8; I'm not surprised Audi discontinued it as there is no reason to buy it when EV's for 25% of the price have the same, or better, performance.
Incredible. Thanks for sharing your experience in Dubai!
Hey there, Lars . I thought I read "The DUST of . . ." Interesting Freudian slip, eh ?🙏for another enjoyable episode from your seemingly inexaustabl creative spirit !
Tesla will be able to include full self driving at a monthly charge while Mercedes can charge you for the heated seats option, not!
Teslas get better over th air nonexistent depreciation value
Great video, Lars. Can't wait for your new channel!
I can't wait for Aptera to go into production. Their solar charging (IIRC there's one or two other companies working on that as well) will solve the at-home charging problem for people who live in apartments or otherwise don't have access to a home garage to charge in.
Here in the US, I think the traditional ICE car has been dying for many years. The reason for this was not related to EV adoption, rather it is due to the consumer shift in preference to larger Trucks and SUVs.
The ICE industry peaked in 2017 and has been in decline since, whether it's car, truck, or SUV.
Maybe not coincidentally, 2017 is also when Tesla started selling the Model 3.
the Issue is, Legacy auto had reached PEAK sales in 2017, with no going back.
the model S when Released became the BEST car period in 2012.
but, because it was too Expensive , this also meant that it would take a long time to Disrupt compact size LUX Performance cars. also, Initially Tesla very slow to Produce model S in Numbers.
but, still Enough to Disrupt existing LUX Performance OEMs.
but , I think Tesla model S has reached PEAK market, even as it Continues refinement & Improvement. in 2023 it sold 16,000 units , not bad but not 100k as planned.
the EU would rather buy Performance model 3/Y as its Smaller and more suitable on EU roads.
and I think its just fine to Continue making Model S in the USA.
As long as the Model S and Model X can be sold at a profit, keep making them. They help build the brand.
Yep, Volvo is terminating Diesel engine development 😢 RIP ICE
They just produced the last one, must be many years since they stoped development of it.
Good ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I own a Tesla. I own Tesla stock. I'm not sure ice is going to disappear as soon as speculation. For cars, yes, for the most part. We still need a better range towing for pickups here in the state's. We tow giant 5th wheel trailers. We also like to tow our equipment trailers. Often 1000 miles or more. The minimum is 250 miles under load going over mountains. Until we have a truck with those specs, we are still going to want diesel trucks.
Yeah what people who haven't driven an EV, even a Bolt, don't understand is the instant acceleration (and deceleration with one pedal driving). Even if high horsepower, an ICE car has to wait for the gas to flow and the engine rev
Huge low end torque
Great perspective!
Sunset on ICE ?
In my sciency world, Gas Giants are the planets Uranus and Neptune. But your way sounds much better 🤣
You forgot Jupiter and Saturn.
OEM have being screaming to anyone willing to listen that cannot make a profit on electric cars !can you believe anything these once upon a time manufacturers was looked on as leaders are now reduced to followers. Sad.
Great video. As usual. I hope you enjoyed Dubai. I lived there for six years. I still have projects there and in the area and lots of friends there as well.
Looking forward to the new Tesla M3 performance. Would love one!
*That noise you hear coming from an expensive ICE car is the car screaming and crying about getting their butt kicked by a more affordable Tesla EVs.*
EV Lars ✔️🖖🙏 Expensive , noisy ice crap no good for people of the home planet 🌎
Great video m8.
I have a modern muscle car 2005 Dodge Magnum 5.7 Hemi. It's a fun car and I can roast the tires but compared to the newer EV's it's slow at 0 - 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. LOL. Still have a blast with it.
Lars, you showed Hotel Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Test driving a $300,00 ICE car should include a night there.
I really love my Model Y LR but as far as saving thousands by switching to an ev sadly that doesn't apply if you bought a Y prior to 2023. It has depreciated nearly $40k so that pretty much wipes out all the savings! Still a great car though 😩
Do we really think people buy regularly ICE cars because they love the four banger inside?? No, most want it to either not break ever or just go away
*For an expensive super car, its bite is worse than its bark.*
Yo, nice video you don't seem to be wearing a seatbelt neither is the driver next to you, may l ask the reason why?
Thanks
I think Tesla should have downloaded engine noises to play in ICE mode as a goof. Hopefully the would just be used as a part trick. It would eliminate that as a reason to buy ICE?!
So I’d love a Porsche 918 Spyder and a Lexus LFA V-10.
Possibly a Corvette. For random use, track use, just to start up and as sculpture.
But ICE cars for the masses is soon ending. ICE for enthusiasts may take longer but most see the benefits of EV’s.
Shifting 98% of driving to EV’s could help keep gas affordable for casual or sporadic use.
But who in their right mind buys an Audi R8 today?! Nah, original TT maybe but a neutered Lamborghini from Germany doesn’t move me the way it did a decade and a half ago. 😂
Those blades did look cool tho
Anyone know how cheap t3 is with new design and batteries to manufacture?
*IN USA the model-3 is around $36,000us I heard, the website tells you* 😊😊😊
If you buy an ICE car today, it might be hard to sell again, in few years time 🤔
Nope LARS, electricity is FREE! 3:)
I start to feel like a dinosaur when i drive in my diesel car. I Will buy an ev soon.
It's translated from German into English as "Twilight," not "Dusk.""
I been driving my Bolt Ev for 8 yeas, and im never going back gasoline
are you not worried about battery pack fires from thermal runaway events ?
@markplott4820 It's call insurance.
What's a Ford?
@ 1 : 56 not including deaths from breathing carbon monoxide
EV neuros😢is real.
People are irrational about their ICE cars.
They feel they need to be financially drained in fuel, maintenance, pollution, and premature wear and tear.
I've owned my last dirty, smelly, noisy, expensive to maintain ICE car. It's electric only from here on out.
No personally owned private vehicles by 2030 in many large cities in the U.S. Cars will be driverless, A.I. operated and never parked - a central system will manage all vehicle requests and routings. Each car will have UV interior lights momentarily on after each use with on-board vacuuming for sanitation. Cars will be rented for pennies per mile. The present adoption for this is exponential, rising fast. Just like the death of Kodak, the PC crash from glut, the takeover of smart phones. Cars are changing NOW.
Rather buy a house, they're useful 😂
premium ICE cars have an emotional value for many people. and even though electric vehicles starts to make more and more practical sense to the point where it gets obvious, ICE cars still occupies a huge portion of the overall economy. Think about all the people who's jobs depends on the ICE ecosystem, from gas stations to repairshops to spareparts manufacturing. These people have incentives to be anti-electic in the short term. It is a revolution and it is going to take time.
The United States has an up hill battle converting to electric vehicles because the technology has been made political! Big Oil has a major grip on the politicians not only with monetary contributions but also by employing family members and promises of lucrative retirement positions in the industry.
It will be interesting to watch fuel prices now that the price gouging season is upon us and also the presidential race is on.
If Big Oil keeps the fuel price down, it helps a pro EV candidate, if Big Oil drives the price sky high it helps the EV market !
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅❤
My last ICE car was and will be an RS5
You should be required to pass an advanced racing drivers course before you are allowed to purchase nearly all high end performance cars. Too many of them end up wrapped around a tree or pole. I have no issue with the driver getting hurt but I do have an issue with the rest of us being collateral damage.
You wish
20 years from now.......maybe, but dont hold your breath.
😂😂😂❤ a lot of noise and not much performance❤ 😂. and also burning fossil fuel is responsible for mass extinction. they should be banned
@Lars they will never let you test drive anther ICE car. I am surprised Audi let you test drive the R8. They must not have heard of your name.
I advise elon to price the roadster at 1 million usd.
Absolutely not.
He will blow the market away keeping the price at $250k
$10 million for the first 1,000 built. And only build 200 the first year.
Yeah, ICE is dead. You can't really compare an unreleased Tesla to anything yet. It SHOULD be good, but who knows?
That convertable in Dubai looked like a circus clown car when you filmed it with whatever camera you had on that selfie stick! I really don't think you showed it off if a favorable light.
If you didn’t enjoy a V10 Audi R8, well, you’re dead inside. It’s not met to be an appliance, it’s an emotional vehicle.
Emotionally stupid.
Lars provided an in-depth analysis of all the reasons…
…You provided emotional word salad.
Time you grew up.
Clearly you have never been in a Tesla. That is pure driving experience. Built Tesla Tough. Best in class. Best selling world wide. Highest safety score. Highest customer satisfaction. I can go on.
Or maybe it’s you, who’s brain dead. That thing is SO overpriced for it’s “performance”
You’re actually talking about an “emotional attachment” to an inanimate object, why? Because it’s an Audi and makes noise? 😂 I truly think YOU are brain dead!
Great Show, informative and entertaining! However, your intro is far too long, a waist of time.
I would choose an Audi R8 over a Model S Plaid any day, any night.
That is exactly why some people don't know the meaning of "like" "day" and "night " ! Until they see the light . Lol.
Me too if I was given it, then I would sell it and buy the Model S Plaid that same day.
@@jjamespacbell or two!don't forget the girl she would like one too lol.
