As soon as Tesla offers low insurance rates for drivers using FSD V12 we'll know it's ready.
…. It’s all brand new but I read same questions
Insurance companies kringe.. 😂 The biggest worldwide scams are insurance, taxation, inflation, our judicial system, bad laws and cops! 😊
Im sure that will come next year, right after thr Roadster and the household robot, and the Semi, and everything else coming next year.
Tesla has no time for auto insurance, they are preparing to send 1 million humans to Mars by 2050. That is what Elon said. For real.
Well I hope you are right and FSD is finally here, I believe we are closer but still some time to go. Having used FSD for a year, I know it had still quite a bit to go. Will see what version 12 looks like. One thing is for sure, Tesla is the only company on the right path to solve self driving, everyone else are just pretenders.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
V12 sure looked smooth on whole Mars vids. Curb to curb! Smooth turning, obstacle management…Let’s go!😊
Yeah it looked just as smooth like the drive Tesla published after Autonomous Day...
Oh wait, that was fake ! Not saying that this V12 drive was fake, but what about all the other drives which didn't go so smooth and they didn't show you ?
It looks great but don't forget he's in San Fran where a lot of training takes place. He's going to get better rides than most. Let's see a few more cities before judging.
Phillip.
@@philliptemple9841 As Lars says, there will be more iteration v12.2,.3 etc. but this is the platform that the production version will be built on.
13:12 Dan O'Dowd was screaming at the screen, "GO! GO! GO!" lmao
Lars, you have a magnetic talent for storytelling. Few have told this story as you, bravo and thank you ❤
Full self driving is built into all Teslas; just need the final software. Other brands of EVs do not have this.
This is exactly what Optimus needs.
Ever thought about a engineering job at Tesla Dr obvious?
Yeh right stuff dodgy features that have proven to have caused the deaths of people and stuffing it into another over hyped scam...the all bright and shiny new tesla terminator...great.
Gordon Johnson likes the Guidehouse chart.
Seems a bit disappointing. FSD 12 wasn't supposed to be another Beta release.
Dirt from weather related grime is a huge problem if there is no driver or passenger to get out and clean the cameras. I spend way too much time doing this to keep my fsd working on my new MYLR. Besides that, it’s wonderful! The best software that’s blinded isn’t going anywhere. ✌🏼
Tesla is leading. Follow or get out of the way.
………. but put th checkerboard DOWN
Leading up all that traffic yeah get out the way is right😂
A little Tuesday [attempted] humor:
Undocumented FSD Modes of Operation:
Toybox->FSD Modes->
• Get Me There In One Piece mode
• Grandma's Driving mode - Top speed 17MPH, stop signs optional, box of kleenex on the dashboard also optional
• Fifth Element mode - because in the 1950s we were PROMISED flying cars by now!
• Back to the Future mode - get there before you left
• Star Trek mode - To Go Where No One Has Gone Before aka Off-Road FSD
• Grand Theft Auto mode - Drive it like you stole it!
Did I miss any?
Yehehe @ get there before u leave 👍
Very interesting! And funny! 16:02
"Garden State Parkway Mode"
@@rgeraldalexander4278 - Being from the Midwest, could you elaborate on the notoriety of the Garden State Parkway?
Elon did say once again, he thinks FSD will be this year. I am one of the early adopters of FSD beta. I think it’s pretty good on major highways/freeways. However, honestly speaking, city street driving can be a complete disaster. Especially if your in a city and there doubled parked cars, the car just stops & pauses for a long time. Tight turns are very slow as well. When your driving in a fast pace city & this happens, there will be always be road rage. Tesla is definitely way ahead of any company figuring out FSD. I truly believe these cars will only get better. ⚡️😎
"honestly speaking, city street driving can be a complete disaster"
Thanks for your honest assessment of 12.3 FSD. Others agree with you.
Thanks for your Positive Message !!!
The Chart from Guidehouse is correct except the arrows are backwards, easy fix.🤣
Ya! Flip the chart around.
Yeah just mirror and flip the image
Bosch will also stoping produce lidar sensors...
Lars I understand your enthusiasm for Tesla, but Tesla can’t even get parts to hertz who purchased 100k cars, there are some real issues you may want to report
Good point. If they cannot service a fleet of 100k cars, what hope is there for the average Tesla buyer. Just one car.
Tesla will be able to drive EVERYWHERE 😮!! ⚡️💥🎶👏💥 Thanks Lars for taking us EVERYWHERE with your superlative reporting.
Probably to the next fatal accident scene.....
THANKS LARS 🥶‼️
I've never seen research proving demand for driverless Ubers/Taxis exists.
Business economics prove a lack of labor rate makes a driverless car more economical
Well, Tesla has made about 360,000 sales of FSD at $7000 (early adopters) to $12,000. That's evidence. Waymo have customers signed up and using them, as did Cruise before they halted.
I travel regularly on driverless trains along with millions of fellow commuters.😊
One small correction, Tesla leased vehicles are not being turned into Tesla to build a robot fleet. They are in fact being resold as a used car or wholesaled at auction. For example, when I turned in my Model 3 Stealth Performance in Ohio, I googled the VIN a couple months later and found it for sale at a used car lot in Texas.
The reasoning behind not letting customers buy out the least is likely because they will accumulate more money selling it themselves at full price (instead of full price minus lease equity from the leasee).
Personal car ownership may go away. It is costly to have your vehicle sit unused most of the time. Public cars on demand is the future enabled by FSD.
Not for me !
Sharing that covid again. It’s bad enough on the bus yet you want that to be in a car is laughable. That’s your future and it’s already there waiting for you 😷
"Public cars on demand is the future "
That is the future dreamed of by Uber and others, who will charge heavily to use a 'public car'.
If you buy an Accord or Camry, and with light maintenance, it will run for 20 years. Nothing beats that, on a cost per mile basis.
That Guidehouse Insights chart reflects the mindset of people who think Tesla is just a car company.
One question is how much continuity and situational awareness is there? Certainly in traffic flow it must be recognizing and tracking entities. But how about the San Francisco case with the GM car being unaware that there was a pedestrian down, out of camera range. My guess is that a Tesla would be susceptible to the same problem. Glad they're putting a camera low down in the front in the Cybertruck, they all need that.
2 weeks
Hope we will see that in Europe soon
Me 2
Lars, they still don't see it.
😅😅😅 What's happening in the back of that prius at 10:19? (Watch in 2x speed)
I have a guess...
Do you think it'sa prius special edition69 fake taxi? @@ofensywnycioban3454
Bad shocks ...😂😂
"Geofenced area" is, in this context, a nice alternative description of "virtual rail". Not as difficult or expensive as actual rail to make or upgrade, but also not even comparable to ability to just drive based on sensor input.
Robotaxis, whenever they will be deployed, "everywhere", the demand for used cars will drop, so sharply I think it'll have extreme effects, that we can't predict very well. It'll be worst for ICE cars, and most sales of new ICE cars is totally dependent on the assumption that the cars retain significant value years later.
While I personally would have preferred this happened years ago, it will be comical to see how the haters whole world view will totally collapse, the foundation for their alternative realities will suddenly vanish for them, like Wile E. Coyote realizing he's running in thin air, and just then suddenly falls to the ground.
Great Channel and great episode as always! Just wondering if you or any of your viewers have ever used the Cruise robo taxi service? I haven't, but I hear it's a real drag...
Also, I would refer to the Guidehouse chart as an hysterical, historical chart...
Your NACS chart is out of date. VAG has announced they’re adopting NACS
Still trying to figure out why Whole Mars has such great hands free drives in SF, while I can go 2 minutes without a "take-over" in San Antonio? I guess I'm supposed to believe 11.4 vs 12.x, but Whole Mars had great drives on 11.4??? I want to beleive that 12 will be the answer, but the skeptic in me is wondering if I'm being duped.
Some people say that early 12.3 FSD vehicles have remote drivers that are watching and helping the cars.
Unfortunately I went ahead and subscribed to full self-driving only discover that version 12 is not out to the public yet. It's only out to selected beta testers. Not entirely clear when it will come out to the public but it may not be for another month or two.
Ty for ur patience FSD will be here before th big boys will ha
Tesla fsd v12 is crazy perfect that I watch on RUclips videos yesterday . Now I am sure we are very close to FSD.
Still gotta have more data….. shout out to th beta drivers collecting an storing valuable driving information
Your chart 1-1 at 5:45 has the arrows backwards.
Waiting for Grok to be integrated as an AI assistant in Tesla! 🤩
Amazing news for anyone who needs transportation. To those who say we need less cars, not more...FSD can help with that because there is no need to park once you reach a pedestrian only area.
Thanks!
Thank YOU🫵🙏
Why is no one else freaking out about the alien crop circle at 1:30 ?👽
Airplane autopilot is totally different from car autopilot. Hearing that a fire truck gets stuck behind a self driving car, there is so much to think about that. I do not trust a computer, and that as a programmer.
Good point! What if an injured person is dying in the back of an ambulance, and the Tesla FSD system doesn't make way for the ambulance? Time is of the essence.
3:00 I can make that yellow light 😅 Congrats Tesla 🎉
Are Tesla's FSD cars and electric vehicles different models? Or are both features built into the same model?
Great video Lars and I agree with your assessments. The impact that I don't se covered is what will happen to Teslas sale when they solve FSD. Who would not buy a Tesla if they can enable FSD when they want, for a daily or monthly fee.
Personal car ownership may go away. It is costly to have your vehicle sit unused most of the time. Public cars on demand is the future enabled by FSD.
Mr Elon gon stop selling cars one day
@@sparkysho-ze7nm Agree there there is huge future business in making public transportation better, but he would loss my business.
@@stvybaby I didn't mention personal ownership. To enable FSD at scale you still need to sell more cars. The personal demand would be instance, whereas fleet models would require partnership models or significant solution implementation to make a difference within a few years (2027).
It might make sense if you could pay by the mile, or daily. Lots of people can't afford $199/month or $12k at purchase.
Great News! If, If I drove a car with all those attachments DO Hickeys on My roof, I would Straight up Be Embarrassed!!! I could Not afford 250K for this system...
No Lidar dohickeys on the roof of Teslas. They don't use that technology.
@@stvybaby that's prob why they crash more than all the others lol
@@stvybaby I saw 4 Tesla's at Wal Mart with Big Bubbles on the roof! They Must have Been Waymo or Cruise...Go figure...
At 14:00 you assume Dojo up and running at scale.
Others say Tesla is relying on Nvidia H100 chips still.
Th correct assumption @ 14 : 00 was relevant to Tesla using invidia chips 👍
Got the 2024 Tesla model 3 and it just says fsd beta will be available in a future update.
Maybe I missed something but if you have a billion jobs to fill you don’t need a billion robots per year. If you replace one a year you are cutting labor cost to 1/2 to 1/6 depending on shifts per day assuming a 30k robot and a 60k average salary per worker (latter probably way high counting foreign labor). The robot should IMO last at least 3-5 years to have a reliability similar to phones and cars. That is more like 200 to 300 million per year max. Divide that by 3 again if 1 robot can replace 3 workers per day assuming 3 shifts worked per day. The last reduction is probably smaller than a factor of 3 if a significant portion of plants work 1 or 2 8 hour shifts. I’m used to 24/7 operation in chemical plants which is either 2-12 hour shifts per day or 3-8 hour shifts. The man hours are the same either way.
why is this not making you have your hands on the wheel? does this version also not require eyes to be forward?
In full Tesla fashion they now say that 13 will be the version that won’t come out as a beta.
FSD is a bit like fusion energy. It will always be right around the corner. I feel sorry for the thousands of folks that bought it but don’t yet have it. Soon these cars will be Destin for the used car market where the owners never having used FSD.
The fist videos of people demonstrating version 12 are full of the operators making excuses for this and that. It is still a thing where if every car on the road was suddenly endowed with version 12, nothing would get done on the planet. Everyone would be late as all cars would be waiting for all the other cars as well as parked cars.
This drive could only be considered “good” if you have a belly full of red koolaide
When can we expect FSS (full self sailing) for merchant vessels? 🤔
In 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2024, 2027 and 2030.
Actually, you can expect it every day, if it makes you feel better.
Great job Tesla.. although now your biggest problems are battery longevity, cost to replace, lack of electrical stations, slow recharge times, lack of range and affordability to consumers. That is still a big list to fulfill. 😢
You forgot a few other Tesla problems: expensive insurance, expensive registrations, tires wear out quickly, FSD still cannot be trusted
I think we all need to avoid any hyperbole. Press would love this to fail. It will require more updates to bring this home. They will be on every issue. We need to keep our heads down. The only possible failure is regulatory intervention. Even if it is done, regulators will need to review and they will demand things. This daid, regulation is a process. I agree that its probably a matter of months. In less than 24 months we should have first Robotaxi..... Somewhere. Could actually be China if US regulators delay.
Hi Lars
"still make mistakes sometimes", like at 6:54, getting in a lane marked right turn only, then proceeding straight when the light turned green, presumably why you said that then. I do hope that the mistakes get worked out and self driving becomes a thing. It does look like it's been getting better.
It does that a lot on version 11. That's it's biggest problem. It's almost unusable on undivided highways.
The motorcycle in front of the car did exactly the same thing! Plus there was a lane directly in front without a conflict - maybe that’s what the motorcycle driver knew beforehand: so the Tesla just followed?
Every human driver in that lane proceeds through the green light.
what is up with that Prius at 10:21
In a world of zoom meetings, you should apply to do Tesla's advertising. Peace
The only problems I see are !winter and heavy rain driving
And windstorms
🤔 What's going on in that Prius in the left lane at 10:16? 😅
It's irrelevant if the competitors can't catch Tesla, or even get near them. It only matters if Tesla figures it out.
And there is no guarantee that current positive results will continue to true Level 4 or 5 autonomy. It may never happen.
@@DerekDavis213 "never" is a really long time
@@darylfoster7944 FSD may eventually be 99.9 percent effective. That is still not good enough.
Let's say you make 4 trips per day: to work, home from work, to the health club, and back home again. 99.9 percent FSD would get in an accident (maybe severe) within ONE YEAR. Unacceptable.
A human driver can drive every day for years, and never get in a serious accident. If FSD cannot match that, nobody will trust it.

BINGO !! (on the Tesla table !!)
Great video I would definitely say that Ford has something up their sleeve with Tesla at the moment. Or at the very least has something in mind. Remember, Elon did say he would help them with software issues in that one interview so maybe they’re going to go further, which is a win-win for Tesla,. And this is why if Ford signs a contract deal with Tesla for full self driving Tesla could charge them a lease for full self driving for a period of time renegotiating it every so many years. which would require a subscription to be done fee to be done to customers at ford, which in return would allow Tesla to sell to their customers a flat fee for people who own their vehicles and pay for lifetime for self driving for that vehicle, or if they want a monthly fee but I’d rather have it and not need it then have to go in and pay for it every time.
I wonder if Tesla have AI tools to convert left hand drive video to right hand drive, prior to AI learning.
Ability to drive on both left and right sides of the road with one CNN would be impressive but a compromise including a waste of neurons.
Where is Tesla storing all these thousands of cars whose leases have expired?
Right now they resell them but the intent is that when Tesla is ready for RoboTaxi operations they will just assign them from the returned leased vehicles and if necessary increase new production to increase the fleet as needed.
Even if FSD is available this year rsobotaxi has another layer of development to go including remote take over for when the unexpected happens, car crashes regardless of whose fault for example. Also FSD currently does not do U-Turns or reverse a necessary feature for the future.

If Tesla is reselling them, why aren't they offering them to the person who leased the car?

Once Tesla licenses their FSD software to other car companies, do you think the others will try and capitalize on a robot fleet like Tesla? Or will Tesla not let them use the software that way? i'm sure Tesla has probably thought of that already though Lol
Keep up the Great Videos!!!
_Once Tesla licenses their FSD software to other car companies_ It's not that easy.
The competition would have to have a comparable sensor suite. They would have to have a comparable control suite.
At that point might as well buy a *Tesla* because it'd be cheaper.
Software is generally limited by use case to maximise income.

Good point, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard for them to install the cameras to cash in on the FSD, but I'm sure Tessa would have that covered in their licensing agreement. Just a thought anyway Lol
Tesla is the best car company ever and no maintenance no gas stations and no slime car salesman and corrupt dealerships and no oil changes no smog check no belts no hoses no spark plugs no air filter no alternator no radiator no starter
But Tesla needs something that no gasoline car will ever need: a 20,000 dollar battery replacement at some point in the future!
I guess the Tesla car "knows" what country it is driving in reading sattelite info, then it can check the trafic rules - but this is what I think - The best wh. from Sweden.
Imagine Tesla cars sharing info. The days of looking for a parking spot will be over!
They will monetize that, you will have to PAY for a good parking spot.
10:18 why is that Prius humping?
@ 14 : 38 ….an when they do , it’ll be called ALPHA!!!
Tesla has NOT done a wide release of v12! Only a handful (literally) of random people have gotten it thus far.
Because there's not many people in the call center where the remote operators are located?
I think... I think iv've heard this full self driving before, by now, I don´t know if Musk is just bluffing for the market. And the chart is because they put Tesla system at level 2 or 3, but not in 4 or 5 (full). Tesla doesn't use LiDar, so, it is going to be a little harder to get to full self-driving capability. LiDar can give you the depth of the objetcs and 3d modelling
Lars, no greetings anymore?
Ir should be all-too-obvious now that Guidehouse never had any actual knowledge behind its "evaluation" of the vehicle assemblers/marketeers/financiers of automated driving capabilities.
Well i am waiting for the day Tesla will take over the responsibility for all their customers, because that's what Full Self Driving is all about right ?
No Supervision needed and if the car should fail, Tesla takes the responsibility as the customer no longer has to watch out what the car is doing otherwise Robo Taxies would be delusional right !?
Wonderful world !
What the hell is going on in that car on the left @10:15

Would you feel better if I was a better driver as your comment suggests? Would it be better to forget automation? Just curious …
I wonder if FSD has the self preservation instincts that can make a difference in dangerous situations? Please try to imagine situations where being human could be of benefit .
O said last year my optimistic guess is FSD solved late 2024 to mid 2025. Let's see how wrong I am.
Is these not go to any holes on road during driving?
I have believed that tesla would solve FSD from the beginning. My logic is if us humans can learn to drive with our human senses and brain then so can a computer and cameras. It will take time due to unexpected difficulties like in snow covered roads. However I can!
Yes, because a crude computer made of silicon will easily match our enormous human brains that were made by God, right?
These so called “experts” are not wrong , they perfectly know and intentionally attack Tesla because of Elons personality, because he has real vibranium huge balls 😄
Thanks for video - i think you are being over optimistic with 2024 predictions - nobody disagrees tesla are in a unique position on the development journey of FSD - but there are some storm clouds gathering on EV and Tesla may need to have some good development news stories to counter - did you see the coverage of EV in the recent cold weather in Chicago and NYC - Uber drivers had to take 3 hours without work each day in their Teslas - 50% range in cold - long wait lines for chargers - also uncertainly about the second hand EV market and how will that work , prices slashed on new EV is hurting current owners and resale values - EVs are not iPhones - selling a 5 year old EV with depleted range and poor battery is going to be very costly - and basically unable to match a new EV from china - BYD pricing battery tech is amazing real threat to tesla too - in addition to range anxiety we have confusion on charger standards - VW and Ford are pausing production on EV due to ‘demand issues’ and those pesky shortage in chips - then there’s the reality of ‘regulators’ who wont allow FSD that quickly due to safety concerns - even China wont allow cyber trucks atm - and someone needs to explain how the battery replacement costs of 30 000 for a single vehicle is possible - what value are 5 year old EVs going to achieve with depleted range - there so many headwinds with EVs and FSD i think you’d be better expecting it to be slower to get market traction in reality - will they get there - 100% - will it be in 2024 - me doesn’t think so much
it's just another beta update that cant drive without a human

Remember this. YOU, you as a human being is the most advanced being in the universe when it comes to observing and understanding the universe. It took many millions of year in order to create something that is able to perceive the universe the way you do, and even that is extremely flawed and limited.
Do you think we will be able to create a machine that has no ability to think to be able to perceive the world to even a fraction of what we are able to within any time limit you can experience? It took 3.7 billion of years to create what you can see. Why do you think we can do better?
Once Tesla offers cut rate insurance rates to those using V12 FSD will be widely adopted, and regulators will become more or less irrelevant. After superior safety has been proven over time FSD will become standard, and eventually only rich people will be able to afford to chose to drive manually. Very few will.
Once FSD is driving cars around *without* constant human supervision, after a few collisions FSD will be pulled from the market. Just watch.
Tesla won't release FSD until the data will show it to be ten times safer than a human driver, the insurance rates will dictate adoption, and regulators will have no say in the matter. @@DerekDavis213

Extreme conditions might need v13 or v14, especially if its Indian city :D
@@Zripas different rules for different types of traffic. FSD must distinguish between working buffalo 🐃 and sacred cows in an intersection as motorbikes fill every available space and move in all directions.👍🏽 The ultimate challenge!🤔

I'm just curious if FSD actually using geolocation data to use different training data based on where it is, as different countries will have slightly different rules and will need slightly different training data. Base one could be shared across all countries, like "do not hit puppy" but there is always some small/big differences between countries.
There is already a video on RUclips that shows 12.3 driving in New York. Lots of issues, and disappointments there.
This is why I love Tesla and I will always support Tesla and their visionary.
I love how the haters and the arrogance have made people look stupid and that’s what they deserve. Why in the hell would you want to buy a car from people who are idiots that are running it and soon you’ll learn if you do buy that it will hit your pocketbook hard.
Thank you Elon for your visionary for our future and making it brighter each day of our life.. 👏
I remember a time when people told me that Crypto currency was going to make everyone rich and I was an idiot of thinking it was the dumbest thing even (since you can't buy anything with it). Now it is just full of scams and still offers nothing, and most people who bought in on it is now holding the bag.
Tesla do not offer FSD. That is a pure lie if anyone say it is. The only use Tesla has is to see who is stupid enough to fall for the lies.
Everyone will be licensing Tesla's software soon.
Yeah, what say you Dan’O 🤡. ‘24 is going to be quite a year. I foresee shock and awe in the future.
Every day you say how great Tesla is doing BUT almost every day over the past 6 months their stock price has dropped.
Many deepl entringed heavily subsidized over paid horse traders on th New York stock market will be severely affected by the growing demand of th devistating reconstructive disruption
Wall St Wankers disregard anything that is not currently contributing to the bottom line.
Combined with the concerted efforts of the media to denigrate Tesla…
What do you expect?
That is so great I'm so happy the stock is down to $189 I could almost cry 😂
sold all my stock just before the new year ...
Hope it goes back down to $100 then I can buy again and watch it grow.. can't wait till some big changes happen with semi, cyber truck, bot, ramp ups and then end of 2025 start selling some ultra cheap next gen cars .. the stock will shoot up then finally .. and I'll be that much closer to retirement 😂
Really could care less if fsd ever happens .. 😂
