Well I hope you are right and FSD is finally here, I believe we are closer but still some time to go. Having used FSD for a year, I know it had still quite a bit to go. Will see what version 12 looks like. One thing is for sure, Tesla is the only company on the right path to solve self driving, everyone else are just pretenders.

Elon did say once again, he thinks FSD will be this year. I am one of the early adopters of FSD beta. I think it’s pretty good on major highways/freeways. However, honestly speaking, city street driving can be a complete disaster. Especially if your in a city and there doubled parked cars, the car just stops & pauses for a long time. Tight turns are very slow as well. When your driving in a fast pace city & this happens, there will be always be road rage. Tesla is definitely way ahead of any company figuring out FSD. I truly believe these cars will only get better. ⚡️😎

One small correction, Tesla leased vehicles are not being turned into Tesla to build a robot fleet. They are in fact being resold as a used car or wholesaled at auction. For example, when I turned in my Model 3 Stealth Performance in Ohio, I googled the VIN a couple months later and found it for sale at a used car lot in Texas.
The reasoning behind not letting customers buy out the least is likely because they will accumulate more money selling it themselves at full price (instead of full price minus lease equity from the leasee).

  • @stvybaby
    @stvybaby 4 месяца назад +3

Personal car ownership may go away. It is costly to have your vehicle sit unused most of the time. Public cars on demand is the future enabled by FSD.

"Public cars on demand is the future "
That is the future dreamed of by Uber and others, who will charge heavily to use a 'public car'.

One question is how much continuity and situational awareness is there? Certainly in traffic flow it must be recognizing and tracking entities. But how about the San Francisco case with the GM car being unaware that there was a pedestrian down, out of camera range. My guess is that a Tesla would be susceptible to the same problem. Glad they're putting a camera low down in the front in the Cybertruck, they all need that.

"Geofenced area" is, in this context, a nice alternative description of "virtual rail". Not as difficult or expensive as actual rail to make or upgrade, but also not even comparable to ability to just drive based on sensor input.
Robotaxis, whenever they will be deployed, "everywhere", the demand for used cars will drop, so sharply I think it'll have extreme effects, that we can't predict very well. It'll be worst for ICE cars, and most sales of new ICE cars is totally dependent on the assumption that the cars retain significant value years later.
While I personally would have preferred this happened years ago, it will be comical to see how the haters whole world view will totally collapse, the foundation for their alternative realities will suddenly vanish for them, like Wile E. Coyote realizing he's running in thin air, and just then suddenly falls to the ground.

Maybe I missed something but if you have a billion jobs to fill you don’t need a billion robots per year. If you replace one a year you are cutting labor cost to 1/2 to 1/6 depending on shifts per day assuming a 30k robot and a 60k average salary per worker (latter probably way high counting foreign labor). The robot should IMO last at least 3-5 years to have a reliability similar to phones and cars. That is more like 200 to 300 million per year max. Divide that by 3 again if 1 robot can replace 3 workers per day assuming 3 shifts worked per day. The last reduction is probably smaller than a factor of 3 if a significant portion of plants work 1 or 2 8 hour shifts. I’m used to 24/7 operation in chemical plants which is either 2-12 hour shifts per day or 3-8 hour shifts. The man hours are the same either way.

In full Tesla fashion they now say that 13 will be the version that won’t come out as a beta.
FSD is a bit like fusion energy. It will always be right around the corner. I feel sorry for the thousands of folks that bought it but don’t yet have it. Soon these cars will be Destin for the used car market where the owners never having used FSD.
The fist videos of people demonstrating version 12 are full of the operators making excuses for this and that. It is still a thing where if every car on the road was suddenly endowed with version 12, nothing would get done on the planet. Everyone would be late as all cars would be waiting for all the other cars as well as parked cars.
This drive could only be considered “good” if you have a belly full of red koolaide

The only possible failure is regulatory intervention. Even if it is done, regulators will need to review and they will demand things. This daid, regulation is a process. I agree that its probably a matter of months. In less than 24 months we should have first Robotaxi..... Somewhere. Could actually be China if US regulators delay.

Great video I would definitely say that Ford has something up their sleeve with Tesla at the moment. Or at the very least has something in mind. Remember, Elon did say he would help them with software issues in that one interview so maybe they’re going to go further, which is a win-win for Tesla,. And this is why if Ford signs a contract deal with Tesla for full self driving Tesla could charge them a lease for full self driving for a period of time renegotiating it every so many years. which would require a subscription to be done fee to be done to customers at ford, which in return would allow Tesla to sell to their customers a flat fee for people who own their vehicles and pay for lifetime for self driving for that vehicle, or if they want a monthly fee but I’d rather have it and not need it then have to go in and pay for it every time.

Thanks for video - i think you are being over optimistic with 2024 predictions - nobody disagrees tesla are in a unique position on the development journey of FSD - but there are some storm clouds gathering on EV and Tesla may need to have some good development news stories to counter - did you see the coverage of EV in the recent cold weather in Chicago and NYC - Uber drivers had to take 3 hours without work each day in their Teslas - 50% range in cold - long wait lines for chargers - also uncertainly about the second hand EV market and how will that work , prices slashed on new EV is hurting current owners and resale values - EVs are not iPhones - selling a 5 year old EV with depleted range and poor battery is going to be very costly - and basically unable to match a new EV from china - BYD pricing battery tech is amazing real threat to tesla too - in addition to range anxiety we have confusion on charger standards - VW and Ford are pausing production on EV due to ‘demand issues’ and those pesky shortage in chips - then there’s the reality of ‘regulators’ who wont allow FSD that quickly due to safety concerns - even China wont allow cyber trucks atm - and someone needs to explain how the battery replacement costs of 30 000 for a single vehicle is possible - what value are 5 year old EVs going to achieve with depleted range - there so many headwinds with EVs and FSD i think you’d be better expecting it to be slower to get market traction in reality - will they get there - 100% - will it be in 2024 - me doesn’t think so much
