Little known fact - electric scooters in the Asian markets have a much bigger impact on reducing oil demand than EV sales. That is because of the sheer numbers involved ! Estimated reduction in oil demand from electric scooters - 1million barrels a day...now that, my friends, is impressive !

How is Mary still the CEO of GM?
I noticed that the Hertz fleet being sold off has cars with 90K miles of rental use on them. So Hertz has made good money on these cars rather than selling them off because they cost too much as the MSM seems to feel is the correct reporting .
I think it’s great as it gives the second hand market more stock of EV’s and some of those second hand Tesla buyers might be so impressed by it that they buy a new Tesla the next time they need a car.
Rawlinson getting 62.000 $ for Every EV sold is utterly obscene, mind boggling that the Saudi investors let him do that......
They were impressed with his car. They didn’t know the real production costs or didn’t care.

Every million EVs is a million customers no longer going to gas stations. This is the reverse exponential growth issue.
Gas stations? Are they the places I only stop for a pee and by snacks?
Look at the fall in oil production and the fall in retail price. That suggests demand is dropping off. OPEC+ has claimed they reduced oil production but as usual members are gaming the system and delivering more than their quota. Even with the loss of production out of Eastern Europe demand is falling faster than supply. Oil will still be needed for kerosene, lubricants and plastic. Petrol will become a zero or negative value byproduct. Not today. That will take 20 years

Lucid who sold the least number of vehicles of almost any auto manufacturer in the world has a CEO whose compensation at $379 million is among the highest of almost any CEO in the world. He got highly rewarded for poor performance. And then people wonder why Lucid is on the verge of bankruptcy? If they survive (a big if) they will never be anything more than a small niche player.
Tesla will be next as no one wants those things now they are absolutely useless as main transport in the Eu in winter.

@@fast-trackhack6637 I have a Bolt, it has buttons, I like buttons and do not find them distracting. I also have a turn signal lever. While I lave never owned a car with turn signal buttons I'm fine with a lever. Not knocking your Tesla, just prefer the Bolt layout.
They could also team up with VW group since they recently announced they are adding more buttons back to next-gen BEVs
@@ReinReads if people want to pay for buttons then I guess that's ok. Physical buttons can never be upgraded over the air though.
Blackberry migrated to industrial software over a decade ago. QNX is their operating system for real time applications.
GM going with QNX is actually sensible.
So Trevor Milton of Nikola goes to jail for securities fraud (lying about production and revenue figures)…but Mary BS Barra gets a free pass despite doing the same but on a much larger scale….what’s wrong with this picture?
What's wrong with the picture is the way you painted it. Mary predicted a rosy future situation and failed to deliver on it (as Elon has at times), whereas Trevor told boldfaced lies about the present stage of product development at Nikola. There's a difference.
@@snookmeister55 I don’t agree tbh, I think Mary absolutely knew that there was no way her crew of engineers and her complete lack of software experts would ever come within a light year of delivering on her absurd promises. She just had to maintain the illusion as long as possible to ensure her multi-million dollar income continued. Sorry but whereas Elon is often late delivering on his promises, he does deliver the goods…..Mary has never delivered anything as her long suffering shareholders would no doubt attest!

Think at that level of responsibility she should have known what her company is doing. Not to compare with someone who announced things coming a little early but always delivered like Elon Musk and his staff. At GM they are arrogant liars like at Volkswagen that hide truth about reality. So at my opinion this is already fraudulant and Barra in a serious legislation should go to jail too for not delivering. There is no excuse and she should pay back the stolen boni that belong rather into R&D. It’s definitely not possible that they worked seriously at EV projects under Barra.

The GM segment shows a worker manually sanding down a door. I would consider this a problem, for several reasons.
1- Shouldn’t need sanding- this is a high cost remedial action.
2- If it does need sanding, why not a robot for a consistent finish.
The sand operation likely "provides" a union member a job. Sadly.

Keep in mind the Shanghai factory is the oldest of the new Giga's. Texas and Berlin are about to go full tilt (there is another expansion at Giga Texas) and those will approach production levels at the same level as Giga Shanghai making a production juggernaut.

Alien Dreadnaught is Tesla's goal - the machine that builds the machine. Shanghai is the most automated vehicle factory on the planet and the quickest.

For better or for worse, the "big 3" us auto manufacturers will continue to prioritize production and sales of ICE vehicles. If the US government didn't insist they do so, I doubt they'd produce a single EV. I don't offer that in terms of support or as an indictment. Just an observation. I am quite certain they do not worry about the charts of EV sales. However if, for some bizarre reason, Tesla produced an ICE model that sold as well, or better, then the Y, you'd see a completely different response from the "big 3". They don't take EVs seriously.
All that to say, GM is not in "big trouble", if by that you are only referring to EVs. They sell tons of ICE models. Their money is made via ICE models. If they start losing ground in THAT arena then, yeah, big trouble. But EVs? They just don't care.
2025 will be even more interesting!

5 years ago, GM & Ford CEOs agreed to each make 180k EVs in 2025. Neither will hit that (LEGAcy) target.
Because the non virtue signaling poorer folks cant afford them or want one.

I think there’s knuckling under to dealers that don’t want to sell vehicles with so little service. Current mechanics may be unable to master electric cars and still keep up to changing ICE vehicle’s standards. Things are changing too fast for present dealers. The dinosaurs are kicking off.

Lars, Blackberry is a software company and the reason why the governments of the world used Blackberries was not because they loved the phone, but the software was by far the best and very difficult to hack. That's why Blackberry is still around, they make some of the very best software in the world. However, I don't know how good their vehicle software will be, but it stands to reason that it should be pretty stable.

Before Tesla had their official presence in Thailand, my agent (Machine tools - think laser cutting, Haas CNC) bought a Model x.. he imported it from Hong Kong and it cost him 12 million baht (about $340,000). No service. He had to air freight it back to HK for service because rats at his condo chewed up the wiring. He got it back from HK, and within a few weeks he could see rat shit all around it again. Feel bad for the guy. But the only models officially available now in Thailand are Model Y and 3... Cybertruck is on the website now, but not available to purchase.
Another reason not to live in Thailand.

What you call "paradigm paralysis" already has a name - perceptual bias. It doesn't require a paradigm changed, only a new factor. The car making and market have not changed how they work. People have always decided what to do, and chosen between alternatives to maximize perceived value.

All of the buy back recall Bolts are now fixed with new battery & software and they are re-selling them for under $20k there are an estimated 100k of these units.
You can expect Mary to announce her retirement by the end of this year while GM stock is still worth anything. She'll need a year to sell the rest of her stake in GM before it crashes and burns.

Think about this: If the Gigafactory is Tesla's real product, what type of product is Tesla itself? I am not talking about what type of a "financial product" Tesla stock is.
I am asking about the real total process and production of the physical and information transformations of Tesla as a whole, as a core of the physical plant and IP of Tesla, and compute as process . . . . All products, services, and the physical plants along with potentials of management, employees, capital allocation power and everything directly controlled and highly effected by it.

Hey Lars, please read a Wikipedia article about the flat earth. Unfortunately there is none in Danish. The English and German articles clearly state that most serious researchers of their time assumed a globular earth. Very few assumed a flat earth and they did not have much influence. The circumference was even calculated as early as 300 BC.

Paradigm shift basically amounts to deeper understanding.
Last night, a Government Emergency Alert went out to Alberta as temperatures dropped to -60° C with wind Chill. People were asked to Unplug their EV’s and all high draw devices.
Power failure was expected. Saskatchewan diverted electricity from its Natural Gas and Coal Fired Stations and saved the lives of thousands of people.
People forget that renewable energy is only really suitable for the habitable parts of the planet. Fossil fuels have allowed life to extend to places that were nearly impossible to survive in.😊

I remember paying 430$/month for lease of 2015 car of the year Chevy Bolt, which much inferior in terms of size, range, acceleration, ride, quietness, tech...compared with Tesla model 3 Highland. Now I just ordered to lease a model 3 Highland for only 399$/month including tax and fee and everything( 12,000 miles/year)
Gen 2 Bolt in 2025, i know i would get one if i needed another EV as my 2019 is great, well, as long as it has faster charging.

Tesla is taking a hit in the recent extreme cold weather here in the USA this month. Drove through Chicago a few days ago and I've never seen so many Teslas abandoned on the side of roads and at charging stations. It appears their batteries don't like it being way below freezing for extended times. They need to figure this out soon. I guess this explains why they are so popular in California where the weather is so mild all year around.
