A friend just bought a new car at a dealership about 9 months ago. When they took his trade in, I asked why would they take a 5 year old car? They did not understand that they have a car lot full of obsolescence that has little to no value. My friend wants a Tesla, just could not afford it then. He could now. Wonder what Tesla will give him for a trade in on a slightly used ICE less than a year old? Probably not much! lmao

Did you know that 65% of slaves do not know what their car is costing to them and nearly 80% even do not own their car? If these people would have learned to calculate costs they could afford to buy an EV. Our cars TCO at our company dramatically decreased. Converted into gas or petrol equivalent we use TEN TIMES less energy that we should not waste by stupidly burning like since 100 years with low success of improvement, charge at home and destination in 10 seconds, have a climatized car in the morning and because we rarely make 350 miles a day we absolutely have no range anxiety. On our Teslas we had several OTA but not issue to go to the workshop so far just with an older Model Y we have new wishbones but no more the bad original ones from Tesla and problems of noise solved too. The Kia EV6 in two years had only three times changed wheels as we live up in the snowy mountains. We have cheap water power and PV and choose only hotels with reserved garages and 11 kWh chargers which is definitely best for the lifestyle we live and business we are in!
I got 12.3 OTA last week and can say it is totally awesome and drives better than I would. The excitement about progress Tesla FSD AI team is making is REAL not imagined! Tesla for the massive WIN!
I just got 12.3.3. and it's way better than V11, mostly in the sense that it feels more natural/ human. Still has a few annoyances but so far no safety disengagement, just some nudging with the accelerator.
Tesla is massively scaling and optimizing 4680 battery production and AI compute in 2024. Quiet yet powerful.

The key point Barra made was they brought in a Silicon Valley team last year. Detroit thinking has been moribund for decades. I think Ford CEO said a couple years ago (maybe it was VW?) that he didn't think they could make the transition with their current team. Legacy auto is finally be forced to realize EVs are not just ICE w/ batteries.

Free FSD for a month could also be testing the water for governmental approval and public acceptance of safety. Not to mention Tesla's own confidence in releasing FSD to the public.
It does sound a bit risky, why not make one month free available to everyone but only after you had 1 or 2 months to get used to driving your new Tesla ?

I don't believe Chinese EVs will sell in Europe OR North America.
There's no trust in the quality and safety of their products... there's also significant political opposition.
There will be some small competitors who survive but Tesla will dominate.
What was interesting about that statement is toyoduhs plans for ev growth. In 2023 they barely had 1% of global sales as pure ev.
And they are now acknowledging that in 2030 or just 7(6 really) short years they'll need to almost 30x their in house ev sales? 😀👍🏻

You're right but not all data is useful at this point. Multiple FSD test cars have spent weeks on Chuck's Turn.

The only chance of survival the legacy auto have is to immediately start building new factories building exclusively EV's and design EV's from the ground up like Tesla and BYD and stop converting ICE cars to EV. They already have a small chance of survival and if they do not start now, they will be gone in a decade.

Ford indefinitely “delayed” their EV “City” that “should” have opened in 2026 for the ‘27 model year. GM has no “plan” to build even ONE factory for EVs: GM has amateur assembly in disused space in 1950s ICE plants…
It’s seems like KIA do conversions quite well , the NERO is a very competent EV .
The last 20-25% will be very hard to convince going full BEV. And the arguments are hard to defy. To satisfy long distance drivers in low population density areas and cold climate do require a step change in technology and cost too.
Mary brought in a new team of software engineers, and they still couldn’t develop a good software package for their blazer suv.
Legacy is finding it extremely difficult to build a good software system because they use so many parts from suppliers which have their own internal IT.

Got my first chance at driving with full self driving on. Very impressive. Except it’s kind of like handing the keys to your 14 year old. You don’t trust it. But it drives VERY VERY well. But it does drive differently than you. So it does scare you a little bit. I tried normal mode. Think I will have to put it in chill mode (although I never considered myself a chill driver) until I learn to trust this young guy driving MY car. After I learn to trust it, I would love to try “aggressive” mode. (Never with my wife in the car as she is truly a “chill” driver). In 30 days I will have to seriously think about when I want to spend $200 for a monthly chauffeur.
You would need to do the following experiment to get your bias (positive or negative) out of the equation: let someone else drive the car without telling you whether it is on FSD or not and then try to guess. The driver could give you a sign, when he might change from human to FSD or the other direction (sometimes he does, sometimes not). If you could reliably tell the difference, much less biased.

It's unusable at 4-way stop-n-go intersections. It stops way short of the intersection and makes multiple creeps up to the intersection before going. Makes other drivers wonder what da funk is wrong

FSD 12 is amazing. Breakthrough of epic proportion. I have been subscribing for the past many months and witnessed the improvement on each update. I am using it every day. Takes me to work and takes me home. Takes me to appointments. Drives better than I do. Certainly pays better attention. I’m a good driver. Don’t get me wrong. But I have other things to do, but car only has one job, drive perfectly.
The only ICE CEO that is smart enough to adopt tesla’s FSD is FORD CEO. I expect Jim to announce their subscription to Tesla’s FSD by the end of this year.

Nokia and Kodak were both late to adopt new technology. They were once leaders in their field. Now not so much.

Kodak invented the digital sensor and produced the first digital FSD. And then they went back to film.
GM produced the EV1 and the Spark/Bolt. But GM seems to be pulling a Kodak and not pushing aggressively on their earlier start.

Hi Lars, greetings from the U.K. Well, it looks like the auto industry is heading into a perfect storm. The world demand for new cars is down due to economic and security uncertainty, and the fundamental technology is being disrupted. Personally I switched to EV back in 2019 with the little BMW i3, I still have it, it’s all paid off, and saves me $$$ every year with no servicing or fossil fuel to pay for. I will not go back to an ICE car by choice, I enjoy being NICE! 😂😂😂
They're already making billions off of ice manufacturers selling clean vehicle credits. Now EV manufacturers will be paying for FSD software.
FSD is amazing. I tried it several times this weekend doing various errands. I’d pay $6K or $50/month though. It’s still priced too high for me.
200,000 in U.K. and I am seeing them everywhere here. Lots of white Model Y so when more colours are imported they will all sell fast. The COMPACT will sell like hot cakes here.

A heads-up....
If you are a UK resident & own an EV, & haven't renewed your car tax this month, it would be prudent to tax it TODAY.
As of 1st April next year EV's will be taxable. It is not retrospective, so if you re-tax it today you will enjoy 12 months free of road tax rather than the remaining months of your current tax.
My EV was taxed in Nov last yr, I have just taxed it online today, so we now have 12 months free tax to run instead of 8 months.😁

I find it hilarious that Mary said this year is the year of execution! 2021 was that year for the Corvette when they promised a $72,000 starting price marking a big change in how they were to market that car. Guess what happened? The price doubled. I no longer trust anything they say. Instead, I’ll buy a Tesla model 3 performance refresh.

Started using my free FSD other than a bit of confusion at ending destinations parking lots and finding my driveway. The car drove pretty darn good. I drove around all weekend I can understand we’re not going to see a driverless car right away but it’s clear we will see this perhaps by the end of this year. It’s like a kid learning to walk soon it will be running and soon after that it will be driving better than me
It’s no longer FSD beta. It’s now FSD supervised… 😂

Tesla has the knowledge and capacity for unbelievable tecnologocal progress, yet simething simple as making the rain sensor work is a struggle taking years, while the competition already have a better working rain sensor. What's up with that in 2024?

That's because it's not a separate rain sensor. Best part is no part. It is a matter of training the Ai to sense rain just like removing ultra sonics. Sure it's harder to solve those via software. The trade-off is, of course car can be less expensive in the future

To survive, legacy auto must: 1. Return to being a manufacturer rather than being assemblers. 2. Develop an EV software architecture. 3. Commit to high volume vertical manufacturing of EVs. 4. Design and scale to profitable EV manufacturing. 5. Sell EVs.

Today my first time ever trying FSD Beta in Canada (so not only USA 😉). It is incredible BUT not perfect. It probably drives as well as son who is a G1 driver and better than a number of drivers on the road while there is room for improvement, no question asked! Will I pay $15k (Canadian) for it?! Absolutely NOT. Will I pay $5k?! Absolutely Yes. It doesn’t matter how good it is, USD 12,000 is too much unless is making money for you.

I will be surprised if your Q1 projections are even close. I want to hear your mea culpa next week when your Q1 projections today turn out to be 10%, 20% or more too optimistic.

Lest anyone misunderstand my stance, I am on my 13th electrified car and my 6th Tesla, a '22 Model S. I am a huge fan of Elon's intellect, vision, drive and accomplishments. It would be nice if some of his most talkative fans had even a small degree of the intellectual honesty that Elon regularly demonstrates.
It has been glaringly obvious to me for most of the 3 years or so that I have watched Bestin Tesla that Lars does not possess this trait. Early on, I was a Patreon supporter of Lars. But the value that I place on accuracy and integrity led me to drop him from the list of RUclipsrs to whom I contribute monthly.
I hope the data shows that FSD is much safer than human drivers
I just subscribed to FSD and I only get version 11, my sister doesn't subscribe to FSD but she gets the trial for version 12. Can't figure that one out 🤔

@@snookmeister55 Thanks! Ya, GK has been dumping TSLA...that won't age well. I am just coming up to speed on Tesla's push into more advertising. I heard about the initial forays but I see they are doing a lot more now. They are smart to keep it online and not buy mass media type stuff. The advertising they are doing is much more measurable.

Had my first drive with FSD today, downloaded the free trial last night. Had 1 issue were the car tried to turn into a military range that was not part of my route. Blinker came on and it tried to enter the turn lane, I had to take over and continue with the planned route. Other then that 90% success, thru multiple small towns, lights and stop signs and multi lane open road. Still very impressive

Renting a new shop at the most expensive Zurich Bahnhofstrasse just a few streets away from Tesla Shop and nearby to Genesis. However there are still no EV for Europe and before buying a Hummer it would be rather the Cybertruck most probably already outselling the first. But the rest e.g. Bolt here failed years ago as Opel Ampera with its battery overheating problem! So think anyone would like outdated Cadillac that once in the past was called US Luxury car🤪 Today similar products come from HiPhi or Yangwang and they exist and are sold in numbers or also from Genesis which is in the class of Bentley, Mercedes and Maybach already. But Fairytale Aunt Mary just has the Wuling Mini EV in the backhand but since subsidies in Europe are history also there she cannot earn money with a trick to steal from taxpayers and government. The Wuling Mini EV is such a scam scheme!🤔👿🤬🤡🤯💩🦄👿🤑💴🤮🧙

The next bull run is coming for EV companies. NIO will be TSLA's main competitor and the 2nd leading car manufacturer in the world by 2035. Once TSLA releases the Compact TSLA in late 2025 this will cause demand to soar. Everyone in the world will be driving fully autonomous electric cars by 2040 produced primarily by TSLA and NIO. The stocks have both been crushed by demand concerns, but a large scale compact affordable EV hasn't even been developed yet...we are only at the beginning. The rapid transformation is coming.

IS IT TRUE that "Electric cars are not a possibility AT THIS TIME if you can't charge at home"? Suppose you don't even have access to a 120V 15A wall outlet for level 1 charging. Have you any alternatives other than running an extension cord out to your car?
Charging at work is one possibility. Some employers are adding chargers in their employee lots.
Public charging is an option that corresponds to gassing up an ICEV, but the present state of public charging--while improving constantly--is poor and unreliable. As the number and technology of chargers improves, along with battery tech, this will become increasingly useful.
MURBS (Multi-unit residential buildings) like apartments and condos will increasingly install chargers both for new builds and as retrofits.
Third party chargers at malls, restaurants, grocery stores etc. might be feasible for some folks. Planning your charging to match your errands and activities will take a bit of effort but might work.
A look at current progress in each of these areas might make an interesting video.
