I was a kid in the 70s and a teenager in the 80s, man I'm telling you it was the best time to be that age. High school , girls, cars and rock concerts.and real friends.....we had it all. Even back then we felt the same about these songs as we all do now. Listening now, these songs bring back memories forgotten both good and bad, friends that are no longer here...but I wouldn't change it for the world. These songs shaped who we are today, and those of you in your 50s, you know exactly what I mean. If we could go back I know you would drop what your doing and get on that bus. Appreciate your memories and never stop listening to this stuff... its the soundtrack to our lives. Cheers everyone.
I've never heard anyone else say that except myself I've always said music is the soundtrack of my life & definitely if I could go back I'd be right there on that magic school bus with u & we would drive it like we stoled it.
To anyone who was a teen in the 80's: you have no idea how lucky you were. You got to truly live life, in the best way possible, in the best era in history. Don't ever think that everyone in this generation is screwed up, there are those of us who envy you and listen to these songs wishing we could have been you.
@Warrant : Once upon a time, rock artists produced quality music both lyrically and musically. It was a delight for the ears of any rock music lover. You could listen to it endlessly. It had a special impact for many. The sixties, seventies, eighties... great times or in other words heydays for rock music...! Unforgettable...! Jani Lane... thank you for this masterpiece. Sadly you left us way too soon but you will always be in my thoughts. R.I.P. my friend. Greetings from Belgium (Europe) and Florida (USA) - Marc.
I play this to my 9 year daughter and she loves it. I yearn for the 80s when my mum and sister were alive, but I was a young man then. I am older now and grateful for a lovely wife and daughter, but still 18 at heart.
My daughter is now nearly 11 and going through the "that is cringe and embarrassing phase" but I told her I will always be a metal head and will always love music with emotion.
For most of you who says your stuck in the 80s and were part of this era what a wonderful time this was for us all ..we didn't have to worry about going to a party and getting shot or going to school on Monday and getting shot there ...if we fought we were friends by end of school we partied we drank we messed around and race wasn't an issue what the hell went wrong this music was our daily lives it was part of our growing up I miss my friends I miss the times we had ..thank you 80s for hell of a time and most of all the memories

the 80's and up to 1993, the power ballads reigned supreme. this is just one more example of the awesomeness of that era. don't get me wrong every decade had its own sound, but great music flowed like ambrosia during this time.
Heaven is a Classic, the era of big hair bands could never be replicated, during that time it was so fresh and new. Thank you Jani Lane for this tune. rip
Trust me man, you are not the only one. We are going to listen to these songs and feel nostalgic for the rest of our lives. So lucky that we lived those days when rock was so great.
I absolutely love this band! I got a chance to see them in the 80’s. I saw where the band is touring again, but it will never be the same without Jani! The best generation of music ever! My generation!!! 80’s music will never die!!!!
What a great song.Damn I miss the 80's. I turned 18 the summer of 85. I was right in the thick of it all. Great times.... Back when the "W" bands were all popular- Warrant, Winger. White Snake. White Lion. Great White
this made me cry. i just read jani lane's story and my heart breaks for him and everything he's been through, i hope he's at peace now 💔 his music is forever
Remember he did an interview and he said to the interviewer he could shhot himself in the head for writing Cherry Pie and that he will only ever be remembered as the pie guy.....
@@leeallen7491 yea i know. it sucks that cherry pie is their most recognizable song when there are songs like heaven, uncle tom's cabin etc . i also read his ex wife bobbie brown's book 'dirty rocker boys' and it's just amazing i recommend it 100%
lee allen he later clarified that when he made that comment about the song he was in a pretty dark place in his life. He actually loved the song and had fun writing it
All these years later, I still feel so badly about Janie Lane's demise. I am so sorry... substance abuse just takes and takes, man. I will always love and remember this dude, forever.
"I don't need to be the king of the world As long as i'm the hero of this little girl" This part of the song means a lot to me since I became a mother of three little girls.
My mom met Jani at Hammerjacks in Baltimore, MD. She was sitting at a table with her friends when he walked by and accidentally spilled his drink on her. He felt so horrible and kept apologizing over and over. My nom smiled and assured him that it was okay. He still felt so bad that he ordered her and her friends a bunch of drinks on the house. He then sat down and hung out with my mom for at least an hour. He treated her with such kindness and sincerity. She said he was a true gentleman and it was a magical night. This was back in the early 90s. She said he was the kindest, most compassionate, loving man with a great heart ♥️
Back in 1989, I was security at a bar in Myrtle Beach, Warrant had just made their first album. They came in and played a couple songs. They were staying a few hours away so the Boss, Gary got them a couple rooms and they hung out with us part of the next day. Really nice kids.
@@rayphil9641 Wow that’s so awesome! I’ve been to Myrtle Beach many times...beautiful place! I wasn’t even born when my mom had that encounter with Jani. She said he sat and talked to her and he was so down to earth, selfless, compassionate, and very relatable as a person :)
@@acepaul407 I wasn’t born at the time, but yes, he was a very compassionate and caring man and I’m so happy God chose Jani to accidentally spill something on my mom, haha
R.I.P. Jani! You ,and Warrant was the epitome of what it was like to live in the 80's!Only wish we could all go back. Things are so much more difficult now. SAD.But,no worries, it will get better!!
I'm amazed that I knew every single word of this song, and I haven't heard it in so long that I can't remember when I last listened to it before right now. I was a teenager in the 80's and graduated highschool in 1988, South Florida. Dammm, those were some memorable years I had, especially with music like this song.
I knew a friend of his while he was struggling with sobriety. I was like "Jani FUCKIN' Lane?!!!!!!!" my friend wisely said..."No dude he doesn't need to meet you right now" I heard he died a few months later....I actually cried. I was a huge druggie....If any1 didn't understand why my friend wouldn't introduce us.
This song truly makes me miss the 80's. I don't give a damn what anyone says, 80's hair bands were amazing! Music had feeling and emotion back in the day.... sadly, the same CANNOT be said for the music of today...
I have a feeling one day this stuff will return in some form or fashion. 80s metal in general was the ultimate. 80s music in all genres was LIGHT YEARS better than 90s IMO.
I saw Warrant with Paul Stanley in 1989. They were great in the small venue in Detroit. From everything I have read and heard he was a kind gentle soul. Someone out there knows who committed the heinous act that hurt him so badly. Please, for Jani and all the other victims of this abuse, come forward. Jani has found his peace. There are many of us that love and miss him❤
I've got a picture of your house And you're standing by the door. It's black and white and faded, And it's looking pretty worn. See the factory that I worked Silhouetted in the back. The memories are gray but man they're really coming back. I don't need to be the king of the world As long as i'm the hero of this little girl Heaven isn't too far away Closer to it everyday No matter what your friends might say How I love the way you move And the sparkle in your eyes There's a color deep inside them Like blue suburban skys When i come home late at night And you're in bed asleep I wrap my arms around you So I can feel you breathe I dont need to be a superman As long as you will always be my biggest fan Heaven isn't too far away Closer to it everyday (Ah, ah) No matter what your friends might say We'll find our way, yeah Now the lights are going out, Along the boulevard Memories come rushing back and makes it pretty hard I've got nowhere left to go And no one really cares I don't know what to do But I'm never giving up on you. Glad I was a teen in the late 80’s, best era in a teen’s life...music was great, life was quiet, no technology and we actually have to call a friend’s home to talk to them. Gosh, I’d do anything to relive my teen years over and over agin.
I remember when the pager first came out man we thought that was cool..but you still had to go to payphone actually make a call..lol oh the days of my youth amazing memories.

Kristine Hede Burkal finally! I'm not alone lol. I mean, I always thought this song could perfectly be about father-to-daughter love. Even when I was a teenager. Now that I have a 5yr old princess of my own i feel the same way. His daughter did a cover of this song. I dare anybody to listen to it and try not to cry. Apparently he really was a hero to a little girl.

Where can I find it and listen to her?
Wow...is it on RUclips?
One of the best rock ballads of all times!
I too cherish this song and especially the memories it brings back to me
I was a kid in the 70s and a teenager in the 80s, man I'm telling you it was the best time to be that age.
Amen!
To anyone who was a teen in the 80's: you have no idea how lucky you were. You got to truly live life, in the best way possible, in the best era in history. Don't ever think that everyone in this generation is screwed up, there are those of us who envy you and listen to these songs wishing we could have been you.
I think today anyone who was young in the '80s knows exactly how fortunate they are.
Born in 1975, the 80s were just oh so perfect for me. But we didnt realize it until we see what today is, good lord

I LOVE Warrant & this is one of my favorite songs. May you RIP Jani Lane, you'll be forever missed.
I play this to my 9 year daughter and she loves it. I yearn for the 80s when my mum and sister were alive, but I was a young man then. I am older now and grateful for a lovely wife and daughter, but still 18 at heart.
You don't need to be the king of the world, as long as your a hero to that little girl

This song is one of my all-time faves. Seeing Warrant in 1987 on the Motley Crue tour, and singing Heaven was just that!
One of the best power ballad ever❤
the 80's and up to 1993, the power ballads reigned supreme. this is just one more example of the awesomeness of that era. don't get me wrong every decade had its own sound, but great music flowed like ambrosia during this time.
matt lerch I agree w u matt. Warrant was comercial hard rock but really fuckin good!!!!

matt lerch the 80s had a lot of crappy music too. I think things got better in the later 80s.
Well, what we know as 80's music, especially 80's hair metal is from 1985 and up.
"How Much I Feel" (1978) "You're The Biggest Part Of Me." (1980) Ambrosia had big hair, too, or, also. Small World

That's the real Jani Lane. The one we knew back in the club days.
Back in 1989, I was security at a bar in Myrtle Beach, Warrant had just made their first album. They came in and played a couple songs. They were staying a few hours away so the Boss, Gary got them a couple rooms and they hung out with us part of the next day. Really nice kids.

I've got a picture of your house
And you're standing by the door.
It's black and white and faded,
And it's looking pretty worn.
See the factory that I worked
Silhouetted in the back.
The memories are gray but man they're really coming back.
I don't need to be the king of the world
As long as i'm the hero of this little girl
Heaven isn't too far away
Closer to it everyday
No matter what your friends might say
How I love the way you move
And the sparkle in your eyes
There's a color deep inside them
Like blue suburban skys
When i come home late at night
And you're in bed asleep
I wrap my arms around you
So I can feel you breathe
I dont need to be a superman
As long as you will always be my biggest fan
Heaven isn't too far away
Closer to it everyday (Ah, ah)
No matter what your friends might say
We'll find our way, yeah
Now the lights are going out,
Along the boulevard
Memories come rushing back and makes it pretty hard
I've got nowhere left to go
And no one really cares
I don't know what to do
But I'm never giving up on you.
Heaven isn't too far away
Closer to it every day
Ohhhh ohhh
No matter what your friends say
I know we're gonna find a way
Heaven
Whoah, oohh, ohhh

The great Jani Lane ladies and gentlemen. Such an amazing voice and talented songwriter. Warrant is nothing without him.
I can't tell you just how beautiful 1987-1989 was for this style of music----it was incredible
I will say this, the metal singers could really sing back then! And the musicians could really play and sing!
That is because they were real musicians since they were in school. They learned solfeo and theory, one or two músical instruments. Toda reguetoneros or rap singers they are not musicians
