Starring Gary Cooper - Criterion Channel Teaser

- For over three decades, Gary Cooper was Hollywood’s consummate everyman, a refreshingly sincere, unaffected screen presence who imbued his common heroes with authenticity and simple dignity. Emerging as a star in the late silent era, the lanky, strikingly handsome Cooper established himself as a western hero in Henry King’s hugely popular THE WINNING OF BARBARA WORTH and a romantic leading man in the swooning World War I melodrama LILAC TIME. But it was with the coming of sound that Cooper truly came into his own, embodying all-American decency and courage in classics like MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN and THE PRIDE OF THE YANKEES as well as the spirit of the frontier in definitive westerns like THE WESTERNER and MAN OF THE WEST. His relaxed charm also made him a perfect comic foil to Barbara Stanwyck in Howard Hawks’s screwball riot BALL OF FIRE, while his innate gravitas anchored prestige dramas like THE FOUNTAINHEAD. It was this ability to play across genres while remaining inimitably himself that made Cooper one of classic Hollywood’s most enduring icons.

He was so handsome and masculine 😍😍😍😍
Great actor
Who the world needs now. Where are you Mr. Cooper? Love these teasers. Nice work CC.
So many classics. Mr Deeds Goes To Town, The Westerner & Pride Of The Yankees in particular. I even really like Love In The Afternoon but then I love anything with Audrey.
She adds a sparkle of magic to everything!
@@GGiblet One of a kind beauty.
rip mr cooper. you will be missed and remembered
Thanks for uploading, Criterion. Gary Cooper had an incredible filmography with a wide variety of films and roles. My favorites out of the ones shown or mentioned in this video are Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, The Fountainhead, The Westerner, and The Wedding Night. He really needs to be rediscovered by today's audiences and even his existing fans who mainly associate him with westerns. Yes, he was iconic in westerns, but he was also equally great in romantic comedies and adventure films.
Let me tell ya something. Nowadays, everybody’s gotta go to shrinks, and counselors, and go on “Sally Jessy Raphael” and talk about their problems. What happened to Gary Cooper? The strong, silent type. That was an American. He wasn’t in touch with his feelings. He just did what he had to do. See, what they didn’t know was once they got Gary Cooper in touch with his feelings that they wouldn’t be able to shut him up! And then it’s dysfunction this, and dysfunction that, and dysfunction vaffancul!
Lizard Man Maybe he was in touch with his feelings and just figured he did not need to share them with the media.
He was gay, Gary Cooper?
@@prs223 No, he wasn't.
Bring this back please! 🥺🙏
All essential titles of one of the greatest screen legends who needs to be rediscovered by modern audiences. Man of the West is the hidden gem of his late period and is another of the Anthony Mann genre defining Westerns.
I wholeheartedly agree that he needs to be rediscovered by modern audiences. I'm afraid the world might be too cynical for him, but he might be just what we need right now.
Gary coopaah
Strong silent type
Whatever happened to guys like Gary Cooper? The strong silent type!
YES.
Your sizzle reel failed to include Friendly Persuasion, one of the best films of all time. Thankfully your service includes it, but it should have been part of the trailer.
Charlie Wood yes, that is one of my favorites too. Thanks for mentioning it!,
We need a Cary Grant version!
Yaaas!!!💙💙💙💙
Yuk
As soon as I saw Gary Cooper I said it like Peter Boyle in Young Frankenstein
Super duper!
Why in the UK can't we sign in on your website? I tried but it answer "Sorry. This is currently unavailable in your region.
Type in your email below and tell the producers you want it in your country!"
I did left my email sometime ago, but it is still unavailable. Please, make it available in the UK too. I have been loving Gary him since I was a child. The more I watch his films, the more I realise what a great actor he is. Gary Cooper is my number 1 actor of all time.
Blu ray box set please criterion.
Dan Duryea!

When the subscription of the Criterion Channel will be available in Mexico? It's a huge market, please! I don't want to fake my IP adress.
There's only one damned thing wrong with this channel and this trailer, you credit the darn music and it's composer.
He was gay Gary Cooper?
