I can explain what was happening as I used to play a lot on an extreme bots server as Spy. So it's not so much who you are disguised as that tips them off as much as Spy actions. If you do anything spy like it send out what I can only explain as a ping in a radius from where the action took place. The exception is stabs with any silent killer knife. Takes longer with those, usually 3 or 4 stabs. When the ping goes out any bot in range of it will know you are a spy, call out spy, which will send out another ping(why you will get several spy call outs when one goes off), and turn to deal with you. And will hunt you till you are dealt with. The dead ringer will drop that agro instantly but you have to wait about a second before they forget about you. This goes for cloaking as well. Disguises stop working if they 'see' you do something spy like in it or change in front of them or bump them. So you do need to refresh the disguise with another or they will know. Same of you share the name of the bot. In fact the YER causes some interesting reactions after you hit that stab cap where they will look back at you then sometimes keep doing what they were doing. Back in the before YER time, you simply could not play spy against bots as disguises failed after the first and they can and would track you through the cloak. If a bot spy ever saw you it would follow you no matter what. It's honestly fascinating how dumb they can be but how difficult it can be to deal with them at times.

Broadly soeaking there are three states you can find these Engie bots in: Shotgunning, placing buildings, and upgrading/repairing buildings. The Engies repairing or upgrading their buildings are generally safe to do whatever with. They stay relatively still, making them easy to backstab, and while all nearby Engineers notice you if you sap buldings the Engies working on their buildings will prioritize what they're currently doing over killing you. Engies trying to set up buildings will also tend to ignore you when sapping, but backstabbing them can be extremely difficult because they often move erratically while looking for an open space. Finally, the shotgun Engies are a little easier to backstab than the ones looking for a place to build, especially if they're focused on players, but if you place any sappers near them they'll immediately aggro. So basically, don't backstab an Engineer trying to set up and don't place sappers near Engies with their shotguns out.

Unfortunately, on some maps, that just isn't feasible. Being the funny Frenchman is difficult some days. I've actually gotten used to abusing their AI to break them from the back or middle up to the front. Also, hitbox moments are severe in this server. Also, what I dub "frame 1 turns" when going for backstabs... Not fun either.
A Little bit of info of how the bots look when seeing a spy they will keep track and continue shooting if they have line of sight of you from when first caught so either hiding behind a wall or instant cloaking will result in them forgetting your existants (except for the bot your currently disguised as which will always shoot you whenever in line of sight)
spy is the only class you can solo this gamemode with (theres only a few maps you cannot solo even then), it's not that hard if you use the dead ringer uncloak to push cart for payload maps, and for capture point maps you simply pick the spot with the least sentries, clear those sentries, and cap as for what spy needs to do to help the team most, it's to clear sentries around corners and right behind the sentries in front so team can rapidly push as they clear the front sentries (don't bother trying to kill the engies being shot at, they move too much due to repairing their buildings and the knockback from being damaged, plus if you stand in front of a sentry and teammates aggro that sentry you WILL be one shot out of nowhere) the best maps for spy are upward, swiftwater, and odyssey
Im 1 minute in, and I'm already excited because these bots are set to level 3 or expert mode, meaning engineer bots have: - a 90% chance to recognize a disguised spy isn't a teammate - an engineer you disguised as will 100% of the time shoot to kill - if a spy is on your team and stabs an engineer, you will be recognized too just as quickly - Expert engineer bots are really, really hard to backstab because their tracking is insane And - the bots have a built-in program that if you you backstab them with a few hundred hammer unit radius of another engineer while using the YER, your disguise is just there to stop the sentry from shooting you.
Love the increase in the engineer fortress/vs engineer bots gamemode since it's the main thing I play on. As for spy in this gamemode it is best to do saps and backstabs when you have teammates, especially uber charges. Also spy is the only way to really cap objectives and push carts in really difficult situations.
I like how 2 weeks ago there was only one 1000 uncles server and it rarely went above 10 players. Now he makes a video and has 20 servers that are constantly full
When a bot see someone with his nickname, bot auto say to ALL other bots "this is a spy", so once the bot you disgusted as see you, it will alert every other bot. Also Dane mentioned that bots has 90% chance to detect kill with your eternal reward when it happen in 500 Hu range (9-12m)
honestly with all the years of getting terrorized by bots, i expected this game mode to utilize that technology and make a bunch of bots that play like uncle dane does lmao
As a Turtle Engie/Banner Soldier/Scorch Shot Pyro, getting killed by a Crit Pomson repeatedly in the server(s) is a badge of honor for the many months my friends and I played on it. Even if i had to play as Cloak and Dagger YER spy, pomson kills are hilarious.
Spy in this mode is more of a Support class, your main job is to find all the sentries that are around corners or hidden in a place that your mates have a hard time peaking.
My experience with the game mode as Spy is to get the engies set up around corners that are hard to peek for the rest of your team. Also, the RTR is good when the engies are far from their spawn, since they can't set up a new sentry until the old one goes down. When they're close to spawn, use the stock sapper.
Yeah I know but for some reason showing people that graph regardless of where it's at makes them subscribe I don't know why it keeps working it really shouldn't.
Honestly the best solution against extreme engi stacking is stock + qf and a phlog/dfury pyro. Normally a stock uber can’t get close since the knockback is extreme with multiple sentries, but the qf stops the pyro from being knocked back, and pyro can hit multiple buildings and people at once. Very effective vs wranglers because engi dies fast against 1 and the sentry stop firing is a bonus on top of that
I have found it is actually best to act as a sort of reconnassaince/vanguard class when playing spy on 1kU. This means killing the engineers at the front then sapping their buildings so that the demos and soldiers have an easier time of destroying them, meaning that the process is quicker. I can also identify problems ahead of time so that they don't come as a surprise. I have quickened many a push that requires going out of a doorway by doing this.

I genuinely think the ping is so bad that sentries are noticing you in between disguises of the YER
Frenchie vs 1000 robots
Im 1 minute in, and I'm already excited because these bots are set to level 3 or expert mode, meaning engineer bots have:
- a 90% chance to recognize a disguised spy isn't a teammate
- an engineer you disguised as will 100% of the time shoot to kill
- if a spy is on your team and stabs an engineer, you will be recognized too just as quickly
- Expert engineer bots are really, really hard to backstab because their tracking is insane
And
- the bots have a built-in program that if you you backstab them with a few hundred hammer unit radius of another engineer while using the YER, your disguise is just there to stop the sentry from shooting you.
Alternativ name for video. Author of guides plays the same ping as his viewers
I absolutely love the game mode and this chaotic video ❤❤😅
Love the increase in the engineer fortress/vs engineer bots gamemode since it's the main thing I play on. As for spy in this gamemode it is best to do saps and backstabs when you have teammates, especially uber charges. Also spy is the only way to really cap objectives and push carts in really difficult situations.
Keep up the great work man, you did a an amazing job
Ah yes 1000x more pain that even gun can't save you from, you really do love losing your sanity
I like how 2 weeks ago there was only one 1000 uncles server and it rarely went above 10 players. Now he makes a video and has 20 servers that are constantly full
15:10 Normal tf2 spaguetti bug, not stripper plugin, as the spy that capped last point on thunder mountain conga'd successfully
music choices goated as always
When a bot see someone with his nickname, bot auto say to ALL other bots "this is a spy", so once the bot you disgusted as see you, it will alert every other bot. Also Dane mentioned that bots has 90% chance to detect kill with your eternal reward when it happen in 500 Hu range (9-12m)
I feel bad for tf2 players who are in regions where a lot of community servers are scarce. God speed jontolhil2
honestly with all the years of getting terrorized by bots, i expected this game mode to utilize that technology and make a bunch of bots that play like uncle dane does lmao
17:25 now that is good dipenser armor
Demoman on that gamemode: Kaboom?
Spy: kaboom indeed you drunked wrench
The bots have improved AI, they will spy check, and something similar to a suspicion meter builds as their fellow uncles disappear
I say this because i frfr watched the whole video that was posted a minute ago, i can say with confidence - it is real good
As a Turtle Engie/Banner Soldier/Scorch Shot Pyro, getting killed by a Crit Pomson repeatedly in the server(s) is a badge of honor for the many months my friends and I played on it. Even if i had to play as Cloak and Dagger YER spy, pomson kills are hilarious.
i really like that there’s no ping limit since i can never play on uncle topia usually and this mode is really fun
gaben gives his sweatiest spies to his uncliest danes
The subtle foreshadowings 😂😂😂😂 1:56
I found that going soldier with stock rocket and buff banner is REALLY affective in this game mode
You've alerted the horde

Literally just finished taking my last exam for this semester. This video was a nice treat to start off Christmas break👍
20:06 Please kindly explain those stats, I'm not mad, I'm impressed. Please, Tell Me.
Maybe he should main scout
I've been playing Engineer Fortress and this is exactly my experience. Failstabs my beloathed
Spy in this mode is more of a Support class, your main job is to find all the sentries that are around corners or hidden in a place that your mates have a hard time peaking.
this is what hell looks like to spy
My experience with the game mode as Spy is to get the engies set up around corners that are hard to peek for the rest of your team. Also, the RTR is good when the engies are far from their spawn, since they can't set up a new sentry until the old one goes down. When they're close to spawn, use the stock sapper.
20:54 bro a third the average is like 5% be glad
Yeah I know but for some reason showing people that graph regardless of where it's at makes them subscribe I don't know why it keeps working it really shouldn't.
Thumnail: Would you look at that, y'all are about to have a real bad day...
*Square Dance music begins playing*
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Honestly the best solution against extreme engi stacking is stock + qf and a phlog/dfury pyro. Normally a stock uber can’t get close since the knockback is extreme with multiple sentries, but the qf stops the pyro from being knocked back, and pyro can hit multiple buildings and people at once. Very effective vs wranglers because engi dies fast against 1 and the sentry stop firing is a bonus on top of that
Have to say. A Kritzkreig Medic and a stock Medic both pocket one Demo or Soldier (particularly with the Direct Hit or Iron Bomber) >:)
@ iron bomber does worse than the loch
@june9914 Aw. Stock/Loch or Direct Hit Kritz.
I'm going to play it now that I know it has no ping limit
Spy has the possibility of fun but good ping is rare
Gotta love the Hi-Fi Rush music in the background
I have found it is actually best to act as a sort of reconnassaince/vanguard class when playing spy on 1kU. This means killing the engineers at the front then sapping their buildings so that the demos and soldiers have an easier time of destroying them, meaning that the process is quicker. I can also identify problems ahead of time so that they don't come as a surprise. I have quickened many a push that requires going out of a doorway by doing this.
