For the black hats; penguins, cats, bats!
Your homie was awesome with that quick response to the kid, don’t steal from small biz people!
I always have problems deciding how to price things, cause feel like I don’t want to discourage people buying but I don’t want to completely undercut myself.
Last year I did some beaded stitch markers and this year I’m making cross stitched keychains, and I’ve utilized Excel spreadsheets to help calculate how much it’s costing me in materials and work out how much time I’m putting into each item. (I weirdly have a lot of fun figuring out formulas and creating tables that I just need to plug numbers into - I’m a slut for spreadsheets 😂) The info helps me decide what I’m comfortable charging.
It’s annoying when the spaces in fairs aren’t as large as advertised. The fairs I’ve done advertised 6” x 8” spaces with 8” tables. One fair definitely measures out the spaces on the floor and marks the space with tape. But I did this one fair where they seemed to set the tables down and measured out just enough space for a chair behind the table - some table rows are back to back and with that fair, every time we or the people behind is moved our chairs a couple inches back they’d bump into the other person’s chair. (So more like 8x4 spaces instead of 8x6, for whatever reason, and that was annoying.)
On these long videos, I end up checking like 10 times...did I hit the like button? Can I do it again? Of course not. I regret that I have but one like to give!
I always heard I can make it cheaper than what I'm selling it for. You know what I always told them then go right ahead nobody is asking you to buy it.
Being an artist, I often think...but I could make that. The point is...will I though? No. Here's my money.
I have an item that can be custom ordered, but which is such a pain the the arse to make the price is prohibitively high.
I literally don't mind that no one orders one. It's a conversation piece that generates discussion around our sustainability practices.
If I encounter better methods, while making one for individuals I adore and want to give one to... The price can come down. Until then. Enh.
Ffs. I understand the rush or challenge of stealing something. I also get feeling like you never get nice things.
But you DO NOT steal from small or independent businesses.
If it's about the challenge, or "eff capitalism" may I recommend channeling the urge for good, by liberating menstrual hygiene products from mega corporations which pay their staff minimum wage, and don’t offer steady hours; then donating those products to shelters or other charities requesting them…
That is, of course, assuming you have the privilage to get away with it, and were going to do so anyway.
And also a reminder, that if you see someone stealing from a mega corporation, ESPECIALLY if it's food, kids items, hygiene products, clothing, footwear, tents, sleeping bags, blankets... YOU SAW NOTHING!
I was waiting for a dee z'nuts at the end.
