I was born in 1985 and raised in suburban Ohio near Cleveland, but these songs awaken the heart of some of my ancestors. They make me long for the better days of a much more Christian America. Bless you! We’ll all be together soon Sister!
I'm 78 and My Dad and Mom sang gospel songs on the way to church and home. Dad loved Bill Monroe and took US to the Grand Ole Opera and I learned to play the guitar. Till I Lost my finger in a accident. I still TRY to play because my dad loved Bluegrass and gospel music
I love this type of music, reminds me of my younger days when neighbors visited and played there instruments for the gathering, and I loved it. The world has lost all that today, when people don't even know their neighbors, they just don't know what they are missing ! Thanks for the beautiful music!❤😅
back in the early 60s Our neighbor would take his guitar sit on the doorstep and serenade the entire neighborhood with similar songs. Quite a special time
Up to the 80s it was much more common to really SING together - as 'ordinary' Christians, not musicians. Meanwhile, we are so spoiled with the continuous provision of recordings and 24/7 availability online, that private singing has mostly been reduced to church gatherings - if not even there a (semi-)professional worship band has taken over that as well. It's a big loss for the body of Christ to not sing any more together in private settings, IMHO
I was raised around it but didn't appreciate it now at near 70 I listen to it and cry tears of joy the LORD TELL ME TO LISTEN TO IT AND READ THE BIBLE HALLELUJAH TO LAMB OF THE MOST HIGH God
Youall know I use to part of the flat n struggs band I'm da part that's still strugglin I can't sang a lick that just ain't my gift but I can out dance any body I ever seen I'm 70 now now n I can still hit a party lick when I was younger they called. @highsidingtothemoon By who, “Jews”? "Brown people"? What makes you think anyone wants to “replace” you just because you’re white and/or Christian? I LOVE this music and I don’t believe in your religion/god(s), thus I am ZERO threat to your classic American traditions and music. THIS is what makes America great, not some racist bs. THIS! Music and creativity that’s born of the American experience, be it religious, secular, or “Satanic” (as with Metal music, which I love AS WELL). I want to know why you think you are being “replaced” and why you won’t accept the simple fact that great Music & Art is what defines US, the American people, no matter what we look like, what god we worship, or whether we don’t believe in superstitious nonsense like Christianity anymore. Yet still can love Gospel music as we love Arabic music and more... Will this music melt your heart or harden it? WWJD, indeed?
I agree to what you’re saying. It’s true man kind, the evil doers are destroying what Our Lord and Savior created us to live in harmony peacefully and lovingly.I live in Tennessee and have all my life.God is my rock my friend and my protector and comforter.he is my everything
This kind of music is forgotten by so many, but it's uplifting and soothing. I can sit and work for hours with this kind of music and not mind it in the least.
Under younger people, I know a fair amount of people who have bluegrass in their playlist and I am not even in America! Especially after Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 came out. People are getting back into it again. Billy Strings has been getting some big time TV show screentime as well. It might not be getting as big as it once was. But there are young people interested in it again.
I agree totally I love old school music I was raised by my grandparents listening to music like this since I was a child I'm a 52 year old Man and I still love it to this day I'm old school with all my heart👍
I sought for God w/all my heart in the 1990's & I found GOD the Almighty - HE showed Himself in very many very many ways I could not even begin to explain - it is far above our understanding - please understand we can never know more than GOD!
I was raised up with bluegrass gospel music, Earl flat and Lester shrugs Were my family's friends, everybody played piano mandolin or the guitar, And the banjo, All the ladies sing, this music has always touched my soul Somehow. Always seems to bring back good lasting memories of my childhood when things were a lot simpler and so much truer, Now look at the world today and what it has become, A distorted shadow where things are upside down it seems. The words of blue grass gospel music are pure and true, just like God's word is pure and true, oh for the time When we have been there 10,000 years singeing & giving praise for eternity.. I love playing my guitar and this music is always just a chord away And a simple Rephrasing of how I strike the strings, my friends don't understand where the sounds come from when I play, I treat each note as a human voice waiting its turn to speak With emotion the words I hear floating in my heart.
I believe it's Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, & they certainly were a special gift to the 🎶Stained Glass Blue Grass🎶 listening community! Take care, & God Bless🙏🏻!
You are exactly right Todd😎, I never could get their names right. But what wonderful memories and times they were growing up. It seemed we were always laughing and playing music and just enjoying wonderful fellowship. I was always amazed watching my cousin Mary Alice playing the banjo, it always seemed out of place for her watching this beautiful young lady of such refined character fingerpicking and playing all over the place. But what did I know, I was just some little kid. I actually just gave a guitar lesson to the young man next door, and explained to him that I once sat right where he was, struggling with the absolute basics of simply how to hold the pick. Challenging him to understand how the emotion within you will one day be expressed in your instrument. Stay blessed and keep safe in these challenging times, God is in control. Danny in Texas
Such a beautiful story and each word a poetic gesture. To grow up in a musical environment like that deserves a book or some great songs in its honor. And the notes... The singing notes must be preserved and collected so as to allow new generations of Christians and Christian musicians access to the true sounds of God's Grace unfurling through the hearts, voices, fingers and strings of those who Know Him personally. 🙏🙌🫶💕
My father was born July 28th 1918 in Easly South Carolina. Although he traveled the world because of the war and later his jobs... he always loved his music. Now I caring on his legacy in enjoying this beautiful praise

You shouldn't be religious if you truly want to follow Jesus. Following Jesus isn't about religion. Religion is a manmade phenomenon. Following Jesus is a spiritual movement of free will. A battle was fought in heaven a long time ago by a very selfish creature who wanted to be God. This selfish creature was a beautiful master of music with strings formed in his body. Sadly this creature succeeded with taking part of heaven with him but thankfully lost the battle. God and His mighty angel army won the battle and God's Son took our place to die for our sins. Someone who was without sin paid an amazing price so we could be free to choose who we serve. If you choose to believe that Jesus, the perfect Son of God, died to save you from your sinful nature due to fall of man through Adam, then you are saved from final death in hell.
I'm 84. Classically trained, vocally. My mother said when I learned to rock in a chair, I would sit and listen to this kind of music and rock to it. Classically trained or not, I still enjoy it. "If it sounds good, it is good." Duke Ellington.
Hey Dennis, I'm only 73. My college training was Opera. But my original training was in church singing these same old gospel hymns. In the church of Christ we sing acapella. It got rather comical in several of the college music classes, for I could only read shape notes and it was far easier for me to learn the music by "ear" rather than trying to read the music. My dad came to one of our Opera performances and was noticeably upset with the music. He said, "That ain't Grand Ole Opery"! Nothing sweeter than acapella 4-part harmony with obbligato.
@Random Hajile For a musician it's all about notes so please note that I said there is no argument about music be it Folk or Classical or national by country. It is however all about notes and that sound, you know that thing called music, well that's it my friend! Sing, play or listen it's all good for you, me, them or God. And remember that old man out in front of the ol country store with his fiddle or guitar or? He or she's doing homespun music, God that's nice.
I agree completely, if it’s good it’s good…I was raised playing old gospel and country .some blues ,some bluegrass. I play it all on the guitar…..but nothing stirs my heart more than when I remember Mother playing, I’ll fly away or maple on the hill. ….I’m 74 and I still remember that beautiful voice echoing through my soul …..she would look in my eyes and say ..( you were made in the image of God and I want you to act like it j then she would sing straight from her soul , the birds would stop to hear her sing….I miss that precious angel more than words can say….
Mary, I love your comment. I went to church with my Grandma In a North Georgia country church. This generation don't know what we know. They don't feel what we Felt. They don't understand the power and the glory of God. If only once they could feel God's power, God's love Embracing a group of people Coming together in one building to praise our Lord. It is like nothing else You can imagine. It is glorious !!!
Spiritwolfbro, wondering if you were speaking of yourself when you said, "even if you aren't that religious". Pls reply, as I want to tell you something, in love, for your soul.
Yes! I despise religion for what it's doing to America of late, but this music is both beautiful and complicated technically. I'm a fan, for sure! I also love Black Metal though. Hahaha!

There never was a lord Jesus. Because a bible book says he existed does not mean that it is true. Gospels are not about the life of a son of God in the first place. It is already been a proven fact that this bloke is just representing the sun throughout the year of 12 month in the zodiac hence the 12 apostles. There was no crucifixion ( crucifiction yea) and resurrection does not exist nor ascension. Virgin birth and Nativity scene all from Osiris Isis and Horus ! Sayings from that dude J F C ((jesus fucking christ) came from OT time phillosophers and were never said by this son of a bitch (mary) . 3 kings / magi / astrologers ? LOL nope they represent teh 3 stars in the belt of orion.. Mary ? represent Virgo and bethlehem means house of bread.. A House means a zodiac sign hence Virgo who has a hand full of corn ! It is all code and the authors ( we do not even know who they were) knew it of course. Not only NT is astrotheology (yea even revelation is astrotheology) but the whole OT also. Who brainwashed you, parents, priest , teacher, evangelist, whicker ? Well this is info for all yoiu deluded jesus freaks on this page. Do some study on the origin of your false belief. You have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm 76 !! Raised on bluegrass...nothing has come along to even come close . It's so heart soothing....thanks for it!!! 💖

Hi..how’re you doing.?
I've been playing music for 60 years and I love bluegrass I'm a country artist but bluegrass is is country as you can get
This kind of music is forgotten by so many, but it's uplifting and soothing. I can sit and work for hours with this kind of music and not mind it in the least.
I grew up on this kind Music love it.yes you. Fell it in i your soul,
Under younger people, I know a fair amount of people who have bluegrass in their playlist and I am not even in America!
Especially after Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 came out. People are getting back into it again.
Billy Strings has been getting some big time TV show screentime as well. It might not be getting as big as it once was. But there are young people interested in it again.
this music isn't forgotten by me...I am german and I love bluegrass / cajun...to me its urban music we should learn from...
I agree totally I love old school music I was raised by my grandparents listening to music like this since I was a child I'm a 52 year old Man and I still love it to this day I'm old school with all my heart👍
I couldn't agree more 👍♥️♥️
Want happy memories of my Mom? I just listen to some Bluegrass, gospel or not.

I’m neither religious nor from any western country (let alone North America) but I can’t stop listening to bluegrass gospel music. Inexplicable.
It's the harmonies!!
God is drawing you toward Him.
It's the God of all Creation speaking to you through music! Yield your life to Him and He will make you a new being!

Mary Yearwood, I love you. Praise God always. I'm 70 my mom n dad were on stage and radio in 1947 until 59. Western band. I know you.
I'm 84. Classically trained, vocally. My mother said when I learned to rock in a chair, I would sit and listen to this kind of music and rock to it. Classically trained or not, I still enjoy it. "If it sounds good, it is good." Duke Ellington.
Amen Dennis

That is some beautiful gospel music to praise our Lord Jesus amen!!
