    • @MrMd5555

Exactly, and it's even more common than most people realize. I can't read a lick of music but have played guitar in many bar bands over the last 21 years but can also play bass, drums, piano & some mandolin. Fiddle on the other hand has been kicking my butt a little here lately but I'm working on it & am confident I'll add that to my repertoire as well in the future. In the band/musicians circles my experiences have been its way more common to run into self taught musicians that don't read music than those who can read it, especially at bluegrass festivals & such. Ymmv

@@MrMd5555 exactly. Sat down to a piano at age 6. Heard chet Atkins play at age 8 ,said my I got to do that. Grade 5 through ,7 band played Trumpet with the super basics whole single noted music. Can play about any instrument I pick up. However, started learning music theory and basic reading music late in life the back door way. I strongly recommend getting basic paino/ keyboard lessons and knowledge even for ear players. It will make your advancement much easier. I'm retired play my guitars every day. Need to get the piano up and going. And the sax and mandolin just rest in their cases. Perhaps this winter. Too many projects.

Turned to just two tunes that had the right mix of hope and melancholy. This one and Equinox by Cole. Going back and forth between them. It really helps. Helps me cry the frustration out without doing much more than just laying in the dark and letting the music sweep over me. Thanks Angel. You may not be aware but your music touches people. Right on Pam. Some of the best in the world. This old man knew Doc Watson, Van Cliburn, Bobby Dylan, Joan Baez. Knew the last two when they were touring with the Rolling Thunder Review. I'd talked Review into booking into Ed Ball's private nature preserve Wakulla Inn. Ball had married into the wealthy Dupont family via his nice and when her very rich uncle wanted to tour Europe during the great Depression Ed was given Dupont's "power of attorney" to exercise while Dupont was on the other side of the pond. Now take a breath. Words he neglected his power of attorney upon his return and Ed Ball awaited his death and acting for him refused to probate Dupont's estate and thus soon became the richest man in Florida. I was lucky enough to have known him and to have fallen in love with Wakulla Springs and spent my third honeymoon in its Inn. I had been put off that the first time Bobby and Joan visited Tallahassee they stayed at the newer and tacky Holiday Inn and made it my business that they'd not make that mistake twice. Nor will I forget Bob's ire when I told him he and Joan were so popular they could have shed themselves of the Rolling Review and have stayed with Ed Ball at the Wakulla Inn perched on top of Wakulla Springs one of the natural wonders of mother Earth. He looked at me with new eyes and said, "the Review is the only world" they knew. I laughed and promised them both I'd be happy to change that for free...I did and the rest is history. Baker

I’ve been a MADD fan of Home Free, ever since hearing them do “Colder Weather”, around 5 years ago.
If they TRIED to do something bad, they would do such a good job at it, that it would be GREAT!
