I grew up close to Nashville, Tennessee USA in a rural area . My family attended a little church that played this kind of music every Sunday. It's a natural thing for all us hillbillies (I am college educated, by the way) to celebrate Jesus in our Southern way. I am proud of my Southern heritage.

This type of worship and interpreting the Bible for ourselves is why our relatives risked their lives to come to this country and to push past the continuing stranglehold of the British Monarchy Tyranny into the thickest wilderness in the Northern Hemisphere to be Free Men and Women. They fled England France where 2 million Huguenots were killed during the civil wars that led to 200,000 Huguenots being massacred during St Bartholomehew’s weekend that ended a period of peace. Lutherans and Quakers among others joined the Scott’s Irish beginning in BBC the late 1600 going as far west as Abington, Virginia forcing the British to follow with their need to tax. But the Frontiersman declared themselves Independent 4 years before the Declaration of Independence with the Sycamore Shoals Charter near Kingsport, Tennessee. They later saved the Revolution with their Historic trek over Mount Rogers, Virginia 350 miles to defeat the British at the Battle of Kings Mountain. They are now known as The Over Mountain Men and only 25 Patriots were killed in an up hill attack after riding for 48 hours in a tropical storm. The battle was over in 45 minutes with the British office Ferguson being killed along with estimates ranging from 300 to 600 of 1,500 Tori recruits, forcing Cornwallis back to Charleston from Charlotte giving Washington another year to recover from Valley Forge. The victory gave the Continental Congress donations and recruits again, and the next year, The Southern Revolutionary Army along with a contingency of frontier mountain men defeated Cornwallis at the Battle of Cow Pens (the battle at the end of the movie The Patriot) which forced Cornwallis into a harassed retreat to the peninsula of Yorktown, Virginia where Washington reluctantly agreed to come when the French Armada told him that they would not attack the British fleet in New York. By the time he and the French fleet arrived to bombard Cornwallis from the bay, Nathaniel Green’s Men were near digging trenches close enough to use their mortars which would have finished Cornwallis alone.
All of this is due to Hillbillies as you call us, and we get little or no credit for our contributions to this country, but Theadore Roosevelt called the Southern Appalachian Mountains The Birth Place of Liberty (something along those lines). So don’t under sell yourself, your “Hillbilly” history and the importance of our religion to this Republic. It needs us again!

This reminds me of my childhood in south Texas when I'd go and sit as close as I could to a black church at the end of our street and listen to their gospel music on Sundays and during funerals. I loved it because it moved something in the deepest part of my soul, but at that time during the mid to late 50s in the deep south I could neither attend their services nor would they accept me in their community (I tried) but it remains part of my soul and heart to this day. Thank you Southern Gospel Revival for this, I am so very grateful. It reconnected me to that young white boy who couldn't understand why the people in my neighborhood (and other whites I knew, including my own family) couldn't see the goodness of those who could sing such wonderful music as our neighbors were singing from their hearts, and how much they loved God and look beyond the of the color of their skin and know their goodness.

I remember my grandmother, who passed on in 2008 at the age of 88, dancing to this song even in old age, it DELIGHTED her. You kids are fantastic!!!!! Love you guys and gals.

The Reverand Claude Ely From Pennigton Gap, Va. wrote this song and was my Pastor in Newport, Ky. up till his death. He was said to have made no money for this song as long as it would help someone come to know Jesus.

@@ronball7356 The Church was Charity Tabernacle, in Newport, Ky He passed away on May 7th and I was sitting next to the piano and he was Singing and just like that He fell backward away from the piano with a massive heart attack and was gone to be with the Lord. He always said that He wanted to Preach, Shout and Sing before he Died and He did all three in that order that Sunday night.

This is the most haunting version of this song I've ever heard. It's by far the best I could have imagined. Courtney Wilson does an amazing job of singing and the bass singer is equally haunting in his position. A Souther Gospel Revival deserves all the accolades they could get, as their musicianship and vocals are beyond compare!

How can man miss the Soul of man is God created and stirred by the Love we should nourish for Him & each other. Live to be 250 and it was a short trip but the second life with a eternal Soul & your body will dance for eternity.
I wish these people would come together and make another gospel album. I have looked each one of them up and listened to several of their country songs but none of them compare to the work each one did on this album. This album and video are superb.

I was making a long drive up to Atlanta from Maryland and all the radio had to offer was pop / rock and talk. Then I hit North Carolina and started hearing this sort of thing. And Me a metal head. But I'm not ashamed to praise God. It pulled up back up and I was ready to face what I had to face.

@@Pipsterz The intentions and thoughtforce behind the words are what actually matters hence why the affects of so called "suggestion" (really just the influence of thoughtforms generated by emotions/desire and intention and concentration) are still observed when people are babbling, or when their languages aren't comprehensible to each other, or when nothing is said at all. The word itself is symbolic. In my investigations however I think there is a universal language where certain combinations of phonemes (the sounds that make up words) take on an objective meaning that reinforces the intention behind. This universal or sacred language has been found in evidence all around the world (check out Max Freedom Long - The Science of Miracles and also Collin Wilson - The Occult for some mention of this) and is only known to initiates for in this language the word has actual power, so it can't be used for regular conversation, since every utterance has a profound effect. The Kabbalah (both the hebrew kind and the hermetic one, but especially the later) also concerns itself with this. I would recommend to read Keys to the True Quabbalah by Franz Bardon.
My friend I mean this with all respect and compassion, there's life and death in our tongues, and we need to remember that when we speak it has power to effect those around us. I love this music on this RUclips video, however I'm always going to remember that when I speak, and others, they can tell who I am by my words that flow through my lips. As Christians serving the Lord, we need to thrive to be different from this world, in every aspect. You can't prove that your different, if you are acting the same way. I know that it''s a challenge for us to be set apart, but that's what God's word commands us to do. It comes from doing the ways of God, and standing in his Holy Ghost presence to purify us from all infirmities that are flawed to him.
I remember a black lady singing this song in our church back in the 1970's. The song has been around awhile.

I want this song played at my funeral too! I want my funeral to be a celebration of life and my crossing over to my eternal Life with my Savior, not a mourning of loss. I want my family and friends to be happy to know that I am with the Lord, even though they will miss me. And when time on Earth is done... Ain't no grave gonna hold my body down.
