I think everybody has a bit of a thing for gospel music, even if you're an atheist (like me) so you keep it a little bit of a secret because the passion and love the singers radiate is intoxicating. I think everyone needs a little more love and happiness in their life regardless of your religion, or anything else abiding by the no harm principle.

+Genos Demon Cyborg It's certain that the woman I referred to is singing part of the alto notes though, which is the resonant note I hear, you can tell by the movements in her face/mouth during the note changes on the "aa" of the last 'amen' - the other female part is the soprano bit which is a constant high note that doesn't change on the last bit so it wouldn't have been that. It's possible that the note is blended with more than one person, and that can often happen when a choir sings a straight note and it all sounds like one person, but as the resonant note had a distinct vibratto, it would have relied on several people all having the same vibratto, which is unlikely, which led me to my conclusion. It could well have been several people though, but it doesn't sound like it to me at least on the video, maybe she was closer to the audio recording microphone.

sigh... Ok, here we go. Let me try to explain this to you.. The music in it self has nothing to do with jesus or god. They did not compose it, they did not fly down from heaven and joined a band or anything else to have to do with music.. EVER! All music is written and performed by humans (with exception of some electronic music.) And here is my point with all of this.. Everyone has different taste in music and you might like this because frankly, it was a beautifully performed song. But you probably like it because of the connection with your imaginary buddy and the fantasy world you live in. Personally I like Star Wars and that entire imaginary universe, so for that reason the imperial march has as special meaning to me and It is a great song, but I might like it superextramega much because of my love for the movies. There is ALOT of beautiful music in the world and also extremely much music that is frankly just garbage. But liking something and trying to convert people into liking the same as you just because it has some connection to some book that you like, what is that about? You get me thinking of a rabid Harry Potter fan I once met that was waaay toooo much into that world. Everything associated with Harry Potter was so insanely fantastic and I was nagged quite a bit about that I had to read the books and watch the movies. It was like she wanted others to share her joy of that imaginary world that she loved but she knew that it was imaginary even tho it gave her so much joy. The sense of community she felt with other Harry Potter fans most likely helped her through some tough times. That was sort of her religion and even if she knew nothing of it actually was real in that world, she still got real friends and a magical world to dream herself in to. For that reason I think it is ok if people go to church for the communal feeling, but the ones that actually believes every word of that book or anything else than just the joy of a loving community and friends helping each other, Those people I just do not understand. There is so much intolerance in that book and all it should be used for is to pick the relevant lifelessons it gives you (like fables or fairytales with a lesson taught about life in them) and use them for yourself to help yourself. If it helps you, fine, but Keep it to yourself.

Given the patently obvious time needed for the uncountable and infinitesimal variations or organism's to become 'us' and the success/failure of such organisms, in random mutations etc.. all conspire to make a believer in 'evolution' as an explanation for the origin of life appear like a complete and thick headed idiot, who has stronger faith in this science fiction than the Christian does in Christ, lived, died and rose. I will concede one thing, the ability to appreciate and accept the reality of Christ's life and mission is not something that comes from 'reason', but a divine transaction that releases the mind and will from their fallen state. Amazing, I love how everyone stood up and gave a standing ovation. It is nice to see that there are so many believers out there. I lift my hands in total praise to you. One of the staple hymns in a black church. Excellent performance, but it's tough when you've seen it done a thousand times. +Assoluta Hmm, nah. Anylised it. It is either someone else or so many women have hit the right frequency and the right note at the same time making it seem as if it blends. The odds it is just sparking from her is just plain daft.
+Genos Demon Cyborg It's certain that the woman I referred to is singing part of the alto notes though, which is the resonant note I hear, you can tell by the movements in her face/mouth during the note changes on the "aa" of the last 'amen' - the other female part is the soprano bit which is a constant high note that doesn't change on the last bit so it wouldn't have been that.
It's possible that the note is blended with more than one person, and that can often happen when a choir sings a straight note and it all sounds like one person, but as the resonant note had a distinct vibratto, it would have relied on several people all having the same vibratto, which is unlikely, which led me to my conclusion. It could well have been several people though, but it doesn't sound like it to me at least on the video, maybe she was closer to the audio recording microphone.

sigh... Ok, here we go. Let me try to explain this to you.. The music in it self has nothing to do with jesus or god. They did not compose it, they did not fly down from heaven and joined a band or anything else to have to do with music.. EVER! All music is written and performed by humans (with exception of some electronic music.) And here is my point with all of this.. Everyone has different taste in music and you might like this because frankly, it was a beautifully performed song. But you probably like it because of the connection with your imaginary buddy and the fantasy world you live in. Personally I like Star Wars and that entire imaginary universe, so for that reason the imperial march has as special meaning to me and It is a great song, but I might like it superextramega much because of my love for the movies. There is ALOT of beautiful music in the world and also extremely much music that is frankly just garbage. But liking something and trying to convert people into liking the same as you just because it has some connection to some book that you like, what is that about? You get me thinking of a rabid Harry Potter fan I once met that was waaay toooo much into that world. Everything associated with Harry Potter was so insanely fantastic and I was nagged quite a bit about that I had to read the books and watch the movies. It was like she wanted others to share her joy of that imaginary world that she loved but she knew that it was imaginary even tho it gave her so much joy. The sense of community she felt with other Harry Potter fans most likely helped her through some tough times. That was sort of her religion and even if she knew nothing of it actually was real in that world, she still got real friends and a magical world to dream herself in to. For that reason I think it is ok if people go to church for the communal feeling, but the ones that actually believes every word of that book or anything else than just the joy of a loving community and friends helping each other, Those people I just do not understand. There is so much intolerance in that book and all it should be used for is to pick the relevant lifelessons it gives you (like fables or fairytales with a lesson taught about life in them) and use them for yourself to help yourself. If it helps you, fine, but Keep it to yourself.

Let me reply with some cold hard science. i) According to Prof Fred Hoyle (atheist) the chances of life spontaneously occurring from nothing (he's speaking of just one single cell) are... 1 in 10 ^ 40,000 (exponent) ii) The number of ATOMS in the solar system are estimated to be 10 ^ 80 Now.. just one those to points alone, the idea of spontaneous life occurring is absurd. Now.. consider the counter arguments from Hoyles position... they claim he did not consider the possibility of a) Parallel/simultaneous random occurences, and b) He did not understand probability. I think we can dispense with b) as absurd, and as for a) well... this view immediately encounters the insurmountable problem of the age of our earth being only 4.5 billion years old. Given the patently obvious time needed for the uncountable and infinitesimal variations or organism's to become 'us' and the success/failure of such organisms, in random mutations etc.. all conspire to make a believer in 'evolution' as an explanation for the origin of life appear like a complete and thick headed idiot, who has stronger faith in this science fiction than the Christian does in Christ, lived, died and rose.
I will concede one thing, the ability to appreciate and accept the reality of Christ's life and mission is not something that comes from 'reason', but a divine transaction that releases the mind and will from their fallen state.
So, it does not surprise me at this point that you fail to recognize these realities about Christ, or the significance of the Gospel that Christ died for our sins, and was raised for our justification....such a message may well be an absurdity to your (fallen) rational mind. Nothing new here... it was the same for Paul who wrote just that...

Thomas Paine once wrote "If we have a long habit of not seeing a thing as wrong, it can develop the superficial appearance of being right...time produces more converts than reason"
Well..Paine had his own issues, including the fact that he led the charge among popular literature to abandon all ties with the hereditory Monarchy, but did you know firstly that Paine was at best a Deist and at worst an Atheist, but he argued in his pamphlet "Common Sense" from the Old Testament, and referred to 'Original Sin' in an attempt to persuade the common man of this cause! (Liberty) In reality, he LIED because though he argued from it, he did not believe it or in it..... so on a human level, the American War of Independence was based on a truth told as a lie.
