  • It isn't "new in box" but at 971 shutter actuations for it 12 year it is close enough for me. Speed and high ISO performance are this cameras weak points but with reasonable light it has great image quality and it is a joy to hold and admire for its build quality. It'll be fun.

So pleased to hear you talking positively about your new/old Olympus E-P1.
I am new to photography, having prevously been an aim and shoot with a mobile phone guy, but a first grandchild and a plan to return to holiday in North America for a 6th time I thought I'd try a 'proper camera'. I have Parkinsons disease so there's no time like the present to take the plunge.
My Olympus E-P1 is immaculate and came with the original box and the full and complete set up (with the 14-42mm lens) and it has a frame count of.....476, yes I did say just 476!
I still don't have a clue what I'm doing with it so any basic information you can point me towards for example I didn't know about optical viewfinders so I'll definitely be hunting for one to make life a little easier.
    Thanks once again

The EP1 was the first MFT camera I purchased in 2015. I still have it paired to a 17mm 2.8f. I have since bought several additional MFT cameras and lenses but I still take the EP1 out for family shoots as it’s fun. Enjoy your new toy and grandchild.

It's just beautiful. We keep acquiring the same items, down to the Yashica view finder.

My first m43 camera, still own it, love it and hate it.... It took me a couple of years to realize it's potential.. Once I saw the light, my m43 adventure began....

Ira, I thought I had conquered gas but it was a left over that triggered a purchase. I had sold my Nikon D7000 and dx lenses except for a 35mm 1.8 that I loved so much I couldn't let it go. When I saw a mint D3000 for £49 I fell. Now this cute little camera with that one lens lives in my car as a carry everywhere. A year ago a VF-4 viewfinder led to a very cheap EPL-7, beware accessories! Who am I kidding, at these prices just have fun. All the best.

That entire package cost me about $200 Canadian so it still looks good to me.

I think that EP-1is a classic camera, the first in a line is the nearest to the designer's idea.Later models of all makers tend to put on weight as the rush for sales builds in more features. This has an elegant simplicity. Think the Mini now and then, the Issigonis ideal slowly faded.

    That's a lovely camera!
I have a soft spot for Olympus cameras, my first decent compact point and shoot was an Olympus AF 1 mini, I've had several mju models since, I even have an mju zoom 105 model, featured in one of my latest videos on my channel.
All 35mm film cameras, oddly enough I've never had a digital Olympus, watching your video, I see a model that appeals to me very much.
I enjoyed watching, I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect?
I mostly fly drones but have a healthy interest in retro photography.

I have given in to GAS again myself by buying three Manfrotto tripods. Oh well, it's only money! Nice video as always, Ira.

I bought one on ebay like new in the box in black with the 20mm 1.7 lumix for $150. Thats crazy. My only complaint is the 230k rez screen. It was much bigger and heavier than i expected. Compared to my x100 it has better close up sharpness

I was just wondering when you will get something else..! I am miles away from your purchase habit, but nobody's wrong here. The question I always have with such camera is: ok it is noce to hold, well built, nice condition, good deal, but will this new thing improve my photography skills, and do I really need it? 5-6 years ago I bought a lot of lenses, just to try it and resell them a year later or even less. I understand the need to get such things, but I have decided to not buy anything else since. I guess I am cured! Good to watch your video Ira.

I admit that need is not the motivating factor. Seriously I went looking for a small Olympus body to use with my body cap lenses and the good batteries left over from the broken camera. This thing turned out to be very nice and had a lens that works well with it. I wanted a pocket camera, now I need to a bigger pocket.
