I loved seeing what all of you carried, and how you guys carried it !!! I am looking into getting into bikepacking at 56 yrs old, possibly on my Fuji Sportif LE 1.0. I just don't like the "elitist" attitudes of the people who can afford the things that they all seem to "need" to have. But, a lot of them, in the Chicagoland area, seem to have a pretentious aire about them. I would like to see a breakdown of the cost of all of the gear you guys had, because I am on a fixed income (retired) and use a lot of military surplus stuff (that I have acquired throughout my military career), with a few more "modernish" equipment (and old Timex Cycle Trainer GPS Bike Computer - 2010'ish, and the 2014-? Fuji), and would like to know what I could afford to "upgrade" to. Thank you in advance. Keep up the great work !!!
Can you please make a video about bike packing with an old/vintage bike ? (especially that most of the vintage bikes has rack and water bottles mounts ..)
I used a modified 1985 Trek 420 to do the Kettle Valley Rail trail in BC, after riding to the start along the North Cascades Highway. My first tour with the BP bags was with a 1980 Talbot. I was fine but I did get a new MEC COTE to use on gravel. I copied the geometry of the Tabot so the main diff was the disc brakes. I also added a Redshift stem suspension and seatpost suspension. The new steel frame is livelier than the very old one.
ayyyy peanut butter ramen! i love the shin but my favorite w/ pb is beef ramen.. think 'satay'; lots of options to doctor this with: sriracha packets, chives, whatever veggies u like (i like baby spinach), beef jerky (which rehydrates a little when you put it in hot water), curry powder, avocado, seaweed ... just to name a few
I think I've worked out how to fit everything on bike, without resorting to overflow backpack 😅 Also I was impressed by Da Brim, so have sent for one. So thanks for posting.
What length stems are you guys running on those drop bar bikes? Currently building a Surly Karate Monkey with drop bars and feel 70mm is a bit long but don't want to go abnormally short. Cheers from Canada!
We really enjoy the combination of Ti frame with a carbon fork on our bikes, that's why we spec it that way. But the Lorax is suspension corrected geometry if you ever wanted to run a 120 mm suspension fork on it
as we can buy the identical titanium carbon gear directly from china for a fraction of the price I am more excited about the nongshim ramen than everything else.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Heb 9:27) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:5)
Great video. It's good to see what other people's set ups are like. Would love to see more like this.
Thanks, I'll do more!
The Seiko that Andrew is wearing is absolutely marvelous! The Casio on the handlebars is stunning as well!
Love seeing the variety of bike setups
A nice variety of pack choices to consider there. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing each of your setups! Fun to see each of your choices. Clip-on dragonflies for the win!

I like the brim, gotta get one!
Did he just put peanut butter in shin ramen??
Only the best, I told him he was missing soy sauce, yummmm.
Don’t knock it til you try it. It takes Shin up to 11.
My man had never heard of peanut sauce or Thai food.
I add kimchi
Crack an egg in ramen.

@@barrybogart5436 that's a really cool experience
I have one in the garage, meant to do it last winter, but its on track for this upcoming winter.

Thanks for watching!
Nice shoutout to Sports Rack in Marquette!
Question for Mitch - Where did you get that hat? it looks sick.
Neil, tell please about helmet extended Hat or how it’s named 😅

PeanutButter in the ramen is really throwing me for a loop. how high were you when you tried that for the first time????
Have you ever had Pad Thai, it’s inspired by that. Peanut butter noodles have been a backpackers dinner for ages.
Which old man mountain rack are you rocking Neil?
Elkhorn, It worked great!
Everyone has a cool build especially Neils. I did the GRX XT 12spd build on my Nordest Kutxo last fall. Been loving it ever since.
Some nice setups there and the bikes aren't bad ether. Looked like it was a good time. Take care, Al
Which sandals is Mitch wearing? Thanks!
Size on the Lorax?
Medium :)
how were the noseeums?
We got super lucky. The bugs were super manageable. We did all treat our stuff with permethrin which probably helped too.
Sooooo the fork mounted peanut butter is... shaken not stirred 3:03

LOVE this content
3 righteous rigs. bless!
Looks like a stunning route, Neil. Great to see you guys having fun out there. Also, what is that GPS mount Mitch is using? Looks slick...
It's built into the Roval bar/stem combo, pretty neat little system.
Oh man! I was hoping to see footage from the actual tour. Nice bikes, though
I'll see what I can do.
Three great set-ups.
Is it coincidence that they are all Ti frames and carbon forks or do you guys just think they're the best materials for this type of adventure?
Hipster will be hipsters.
Mitch’s bike is a steel el mar!

Nothing turns me off on bikepacking videos like suspension and carbon forks 🤢🤮
@@broadfjord7087 lol I bet you get turned off on about 99% of Bikepacking videos then.
Da Brim !!!
What do the fake fireflies do? Do they scare off mosquitoes or something?
Yep, and flies, i think that paired with spraying our clothes and tents with permethrin really worked well.
Screw the bikes, all about that hat/hemet combo
The non alcoholic beer did it. This ain't my kit. Lol.
#bestofall is the Casio Watch🤓
agree, Andrew's cycling computer is top of the line!
god, i was supposed to do this this summer. I hate my job.
Great video!

Interesting, I kinda like the 12oz bag of coffee, but the ramen is pretty sweet too.
Where's the PADDLE part?
And who is carrying Neil's breakfast dinner food? I see he eats candy for lunch.
We didn’t paddle, super crunched on time. If we had another day we would have for sure done that. Haha, I forgot
To mention I had real food in there.
That MN Twins hat 😍
Wow. Neil packing sandals and a camp chair. Just when you think you know a guy. Clearly kids have made him soft.
Peanut butter and ramen...?
You’ll thank me if you try it.
@@andrew_nepsund feedback soon😅😂
@@andrew_nepsund THANK YOU! Ramen Elevation
Old Milwaukee NA is the best
100%. I wish it was easier to find in the big city. All the expensive NA’s are taking over.
Full face bug net? Wow.
It's typically bad enough to bring one, similar to midges in Scotland, but not as bad during our trip.

OK, DaBrim is sweet!
