    One thing this movie taught me as a child is that it's perfectly safe to jump from the top of a huge skyscraper, just as long as there's a sloping roof near the bottom to cushion your fall.

    Christopher Reeve was excellent in this; RP did ok with the flimsy script, but mostly Richard Lester tries to ruin it all by forcing stupid stuff like Pryor falling from building. Donner wasn't perfect (i.e. Donner gave us bumbling Otis, wanted to include more regarding a flushing toilet in the Fortress of Solitude)--but Donner was much better than Lester in at least treating things with a little reverence.

      @@blazed420dayz3 Are you kidding me? This is the second *WORST* Superman movie and everyone knows it. This movie's horrible. It has the absolute worst opening to a Superman movie ever for one thing. It doesn't even have the John Williams theme, plus the opening credits are horrendous. It's like they forgot to actually include any, so they just added them in the cheapest way possible. And not to mention Richard Pryor's horrendous, unfunny performance. You know the first 2 films are easily better then this one. So don't you even say this is the second best film.

    Richard Pryor is funny, the writing is NOT funny. Richard tried his best but he didn't write the movie and he certainly didn't direct it.

      It's kind of amazing, you'd never know Richard Lester was a great comedy director going by his work on this movie. The dialogue has no zip, everything's paced too slowly, the shot compositions are generally lifeless...I get that Lester had no familiarity with Superman, but there's no excuse for him to do this poorly with the comedy.

    Ok, and the Richard Pryor character surviving a fall off a skyscraper on skis has to be dumber than Indiana Jones surviving a nuclear bomb by locking himself in a refrigerator. Or Indy, Willy, & Short Round jumping out an airplane in a boat raft.

    In Superman we had Lex Luthor, in Superman II we had General Zod, in this we have these buffoons. Was Brainiac or Darkseid not available. Toyman and Mr Mxyzptlk are silly villains but at least they came from the comics.

    • @afriendofbean
      @afriendofbean 8 лет назад +1

      +Agent Prime On this film, not only do we have Ross and Vera Webster but, there's also Superman as his bad self and Nuclear Man is the villain on the fourth film along with Lex Luthor. The only reason Ross and Vera were villains to Superman is because of Superman messing up their plans with destroying the world's coffee crop and destroying the oil tankers in the world.
