Awesome video Joel, I think this is the first time I've seen anyone on YT do such an in depth tutorial on masking a vehicle using plastic, I think masking is a skill all on it's own so thanks for sharing this video👏🙏👍John UK
If I'm pulling plastic over backtape and there is a potential to catch or drag I will prepull all the plastic I need by using the full length of my arms to measure the length. Each full arm stretch (outwards like big hug) is a little more than a full panel length. Once you count hood>door>door>rear glass/hatch plus a little extra to ne sure so that's like 4-5 arm pulls on a large sedan/medium suv.
Note the direction of plastic then toss and lay it over the car. Now pull tight watching the middle parts of the back tape where your plastic sticks a little and boom Bobs your dad. I mean my dad, maybe your uncle.
Hopefully it save you a walk and the hassle of using the large paper. Some times it's unwieldy

starting a new job monday getting to paint. graduated in collision 2 years ago and first time spraying in a production environment. what are some tips you can give me?
Take it job by job. Follow the steps and don’t rush yourself. You’re going to make mistakes. That’s a part of the job. Just take your time and learn whatever system you’re going to be spraying. Nobody walks in and is a great painter.

I noticed you’re using a lighter yellow tape and other videos was orange. What’s the difference?
One was IPG tape called OM that’s the orange. I like the IPG PG tape more though. Thats the tan. It’s super sticky and holds on really well. Also a bit more flexible and forgiving. Cheaper than 3m most places and for me holds on a bit nicer.
Plastic > paper all day
