I too use the Walcom guns. The Carbonio 360 light base and the 360 light clear as well as the ego 190 and i absolutley love those guns. Once i bought the first one the (360 clear) i went right in on the computer and ordered the others and listed my hvlp ones i use to have on ebay.
Just curious what the difference in the final result would be between this and wet block sanding with 800 grit, blocking all the orange peel out and then buff polishing? Ive only been painting for a year, and only had 1 job come through which required flow coating
Hi jason . the fender is all off the gun no cut and buff required . as Roland mentioned this is a display item here at dna. its hung back up on the wall looking amazing
So to be clear the purpose of a flow coat is for those who don't want to do 800,1500,3k, cut, compound and polish but instead just do 800 and clear to save time? Or is it to build more mils in the clear?
A bit of both, there are multiple reasons why painters flow coat. could be due to using huge flake under the clear through to having more clear "UV Protection" when spraying candies . or just to have more depth in their color. Painters some times flow coat due to not getting the finish they had hoped for the first time around. in most cases painters will flow coat to get a flatter finish . its also safer to flow coat compared with spraying 6 coats of clear in one session

After flowcoating and you wetsand and buff, if you burn through the new layer of clear, will it show the 2 different layers?

Do you use slow activator/flo and last question is the topcoat your using is 2 components or with thinner ?
Doing a pearl. Would you flow coat on both the pearl and clear or just the clear

You can't achieve more depth by removing clear.

Did you say 4 to 6 weeks?
correct mate , just because a clear coat is dry to touch and fitting up the car is safe , it may not be fully cured. 4-6 weeks is recommended
Or more. Even with multiple sessions of IR, days in the sun, etc. Or else... old sanding scratches make an appearance..
In the sun the pain cures faster correct? 1 day outside is like 2 weeks depending on the temperature
what grit sandpaper?

Is it always 1 coat when flowcoating? Or do you put on 2 coats if the clear your using is normally a 2 coat clear?..

We always recommend 2 coats of clear for any application.
